Like me I have no choice. I am a single mother of 3 children and full-time nursing student working in my school and working as a CNA/HHA with no relatives to help me. It's really hard but I will not give up cause we were homeless before for 6 months and I promised to my kids that will never happen again with the help of God. So guys you can do it. Don't be scared to juggle.
Unrealistic for schools to think that their students won't have to work. If you are a full-fledged single adult over 40 with kids and a mortgage, guess what.....you can't quit your day job until you finish nursing school. I held my full-time 40 hr week accounting job that paid my bills and mortgage while I went to school at an accelerating nursing program on nights and weekends. It was very hard, poor eating and no social life for 16 months, but it was doable. Only young 20 somethings still living with parents or have the option to, can follow that 'no work during nursing school' requirement
Could I ask you how you did your clinical program when there are accounting deadlines? How much did your program end up costing you? Did you become a nurse? I'm currently working in corporate finance.
Sarah, Thank you so much. your videos helped me a lot in nursing school. Especially when exam is approaching. During our first semester of the our professors recommended your videos to the class & I watched them ever since. I passed the NCLEX-RN in 60 questions during covid-19 season. I want to say God richly bless you and you’re family. TY
I worked part-time/full-time and was in my first semester in the LVN program. It was difficult but, doable since 1 class was in person and 2 online due to COVID. Clinicals were at a nursing home. This summer, I got a full-time night job at a state hospital and will be making more money, but also taking 5 classes. I have to work to pay house rent. I will study/do HW at work and then sleep when I get home. I will try it out and see how it goes.
This is a really good advice. I say this because I use to look at my age and wanting to beat the clock, but if you look at it you may not make it through the program if you do not get your house in order. It is important to get the Financial aspect of your life together before committing two years of your life back to school. These programs are very strict and only want the best and complete success of their students.
I'm seeing a lot of posts online about 8-12 hr clinical hrs a day and not knowing them till after you start school and change every semester. Idk how I could even bartend with 12 hr Clincals . I can't see anyone working full time let alone part time. Sucks. I couldnt do nursing even if I wanted to.
I am currently taking my nursing pre-reqs and got hired as a nursing assistant in one of the top hospital in the state where I live. This job is 12 hours-3days a week 7p-730a night shift. I also have young kids. Due to COVID, mostly all my classes are online which is convenient. Yet, when I do get into the nursing program, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do a 7p-730a work shift then straight to class. Any advice?
I'm going to take my pre-reqs for RN as I wait to take my NCLEX for PN. It worked out for me going to work full time and did my schooling for LPN but for an RN, I'm just not sure. Thanks for your advice! ❤
I can barely keep up with my advanced 200 level anatomy/physiology pre-req class wile working 40hrs. I'm in evening classes 3 nights a week. So wish I could work part time..
Hi! I want to hear your suggestions for me. How many hours and days do you think I can go to work while studying nursing program? Please I really need your advice because I don’t want to waste my time taking prerequisites.
How about working part time(24hours) in a hospital as a new grad while in a RN to BSN program? I have a family to take care of, a husband and two elementary kids. Would it be too hard as well?
I worked as care assistant for 8 or 9 months, now i change it for Live in care, I was wondering if is possible to study Nursing when i am atleast 2 weeks in month at work, and i couldn´t go to school or so, but mostly during my work i would have time to study
+Michael Anyim I'm not sure why there aren't more videos about private schools, Michael. Perhaps they are more expensive, or maybe some aren't accredited. I'm not sure. Thanks for your question, though.
+RegisteredNurseRN thanks for your fast response. what do u think about private nursing schools and is it possible to do a masters degree in traditional school after getting a BSN in a private school. i will be done with my pre requisite soon and am considering a private school because of time
+Michael Anyim Yes, it is possible to go from BSN to MSN (most schools offer this). To help you get a better idea I would look at the private nursing school you want to go to and see if they offer this type of program because every nursing program offers different options.

Hi Sarah,
Do you know anything about part-time registered nurse programs? Are they effective at all?
What about if you already have your Bachelor's Degree? Would you still have to take all the prerequisite classes?
I can barely keep up with my advanced 200 level anatomy/physiology pre-req class wile working 40hrs. I'm in evening classes 3 nights a week. So wish I could work part time..

This is why I’m doing NECP
