I had a dream a few months ago that I believe shows a similar message to what you are saying. In my dream I saw a father. There were two daughters. One was bruised and broken, but the father knew her. The other daughter was a brand new sparkling clean daughter, who he didn't know, and hadn't been thru anything. The Father was told to choose. He could choose the broken daughter that he knew, or he could have a brand new one that he didn't know. When the time came for him to choose....he went straight over to the broken daughter that he knew. He didn't even look over at, or consider getting a new daughter. Though the daughter that he knew was bruised and broken, he knew her, and he had been thru all of the those trials with her. He knew each bruise and every bit of brokeness, and knew exactly what had caused them. You could feel the absolute love that he had for her. And he ran over to her, and tenderly took her into his arms and held her. I believe that our Heavenly Father is the father in this dream, and we are the broken and bruised daughter. Though we have been thru much in this life, and made plenty of mistakes, and have been battered and bruised by these experiences, he has been right there with each of us, going thru these things with us. We just have to seek him. He is waiting for each one of us. He wants to heal us, and make us whole and radiant. His love for us is so great, all we have to do is to accept his love.

In relation to your dream...I heard today from a John Paul Jackson video that vehicles in dreams often symbolize callings. Also I heard before that clothing can symbolize the mantle God puts upon us. So maybe part of your dream was about throwing off the old to be able to put on the new so as to advance in your ministry.
