Thanks so much for looking at my replay! I made most of my mistakes early on. The stun spore on Zama was a mid ground. If I moonblast raw and they sack corv they win by using Zama to chip me into pult. If I put up webs on Zama coming in then same thing. If I stun spore on corv I at least have a chance to get webs before Zama comes in. That was my thought process at least. Is that the wrong thing to do in that situation? Maybe moonblasting raw has better odds regardless
That makes sense, I didn't give you enough credit here. Stun Spore had a 25% chance to miss Zama, and if Corv swapped in, you needed to click Webs on it, giving it a 75% chance to Roost and win the game. Basically, Moonblast / Sticky Web gave you a 50% shot, and Stun Spore gave you a 75% chance to succeed if Zama entered, and a 25% chance to succeed if Corv entered. I believe this makes Moonblast, Sticky Web, and Stun Spore statistically exactly the same play, funny enough. So you are correct, Stun Spore was a fine play!
@@pinkacross2042 Statistically Stun Spore would still overall be safer, Corviknight having a 75% chance of Roosting on Webs turn =/= 75% chance of Corviknight winning, the Corviknight is still paralyzed, it can be killed if its unlucky in the following turns by para rolls and/or crits (this only boosts the % by a bit, but is still slightly safer) It is also safer because it's not all or nothing, and the opponent's switch selection is not a true 50/50, it cannot be accurately gauged as there are several lines of thinking the opponent could follow, switching in Corviknight statistically gives the best chance of winning for them by a moderate margin, if they want to play it like that. But also, that makes Webs the most likely option for that turn (and Moonblast the least likely) if both sides take the "optimal" action with this in mind, meaning Zama could take the win if the opponent chose that. Naturally you can't turn mindsets into raw predictable numbers as any actor can pick any strategy, making it an unknown variable (it could be 100% swap to Corv with prior raw win chance stats in mind, it could be 100% Zama with predicting the opponent's best move in mind, it depends on how the opponent thinks, which you can't reasonably know in a random ladder match), so taking the middle-ground option is best if the statistics are roughly the same in an even scenario like this, as your odds swing far less with the opponent's strategy, and your chance can never reach 0.
Love this video style, I'm a big fan of good analysis whether it be sports or Pokemon, its always nice to hear somebody elses perspective on things especially when it's credible and unbaised!
whoops I forgot to submit last time, but maybe this is a blessing to fetch a good replay now and submit it love the analysis as always! breaking down matchups and how to recognize/handle them is a good thing to think about turn 0
For the first team whats with the 29 speed IV's? If the goal is slower U-turns shouldnt it just be down to 0 or does the 29 speed IV's let it outspeed something important?
Just looked at the speed tiers and... I have no idea. A 29 IV gets you 168 speed, and a 0 IV gets you 139 speed (assuming both are neutral nature with 0 EVs as seen on the Pokepaste). It lets you outspeed Primarina which I could see being valuable to some capacity, but I'm not sure why they wouldn't have an 18 IV instead if that was the goal.
Ok, this is my team and its for Corviknight mirrors. The 2 less speed IVs ensure I lose the speed race against Corviknight but don't really cost me any speed against everything else.
Why does Iron Treads run Steel Beam even though it’s a physical attacker? I’ve tried to anti-lead against it with Weavile a few times and each time it nuked me with Steel Beam.
It uses Steel Beam to KO itself to avoid Rapid Spin and Defog, which could remove its Stealth Rock. It also is just a very strong move, and Treads has decent Spatk.
Thanks for the tips with my team. My reasoning for trying to kill the Clef was that I didn't want my Treads to lose its Leftovers and get worn down. 100% a bad move though.
That makes sense, and Gliscor's health is always quite easy to get back-- the main issue that game was giving the Gliscor a chance by playing too passively and burning Tera. Thanks for the submission! :]
Excuse me, but would y'all know of a consistent answer to Roaring Moon in OU singles? My core Pokémon, Soecs Latios, gets ran over by it; nothing I can find walls or outspeeds it, or can hope to damage it. It's starting to ruin my progress in learning OU singles, and that sucks even more 'cause Roaring Moon is one of my favourite mons :( Any help would be greatly appreciated
@@thatonegaminglatias4345 There is no 100% reliable defensive answer to Roaring Moon, you'll need several to answer it fully. Body Press Corviknight and Skarmory, with Iron Defense, can beat or significantly chip it. Dragon Tail defensive Garchomp and Gouging Fire are also effective. On the offensive side, you want priority. Kingambit, Rillaboom, Dragonite, Raging Bolt, and Weavile are all great for revenge killing Roaring Moon, Weavile in particular. A lot of physical walls also help, like Landorus, Alomomola, and Dondozo.
@@pinkacross2042 Wow. That's so bs, but thanks for your quick reply! I think I'm just gonna play UU instead, cause I can't see any good way to switch any of those in safely

I don't know for sure but would guess it's purely for the corv mirror, really wanting the slow pivot
Pretty sure its just to underspeed other corviknights while outspeeding everything else. Corv doesn’t usually run 0 speed for u turns.
