I have a 2012 with 98,000. Changed plugs, flushed coolant, flushed transmission, new brakes and tires are next. I’ll probably bite the bullet and replace the shocks too. Not looking forward to that. I love it! It’s been a great truck.
The camper shell looks great. 👍🏻
Send the shocks to Texas Shock Works. They offer a rebuild service where once you get your rebuilt shocks, you send yours back to them.
Great to see that the truck is still treating you well. I have 135k and love my Gen 1, but one glaring issue I've had was replacing the transmission due to some module failing. It's rare but can happen. Other than that, same general maintenance like you've had.
Your transmission issue is always in the back of my mind, but I have hardly seen anyone with 2014s have issues. I'm doing a trans filter replacement and fluid drain this weekend, hoping that keeps me good for a while. I'll make a video about this, but I really want a 2nd gen raptor, but I can't justify selling this tank and replacing it with a newer truck that may not be as reliable
GEN 2 raptors have the ecoboost which has a slew of issues, the plastic oil pan leaks, the camp phasers will go out sometimes twice before 120k miles and its a steep bill, yes FORD has revised cam phasers but i have seen those fail too... also turbos like to fail around the typical mileage people are buying them used and thats a pretty penny.. IMO its not worth it. and the large moon roofs are notorious for leaking @@Garagetopics
I’ve got a Gen 1 sitting at 116k. Replaced both blend door actuators and now onto the shocks. Love the truck! It been great and very dependable.
Nice! I'm hoping I never have to touch the blendoors
Definitely a cool looking rig, even with the cap! Glad to see you’re enjoying it in good health!!!
Thanks! Can't complain these days 😎
Had my 14 super crew 3 years now and getting close to 140k and I love it, come from a 15 ram laramie 4x4 with a weird transfer case that disengage front wheels at idle (very dangerous on boat ramps) and wanted a real 4x4. I only had to do maintenance and had no failure in 30k miles. Brakes, shocks, all lubs, water pump, auxiliary belt and tensioners, all ball joints and tires replaced, just as any other car would do at same mileage. Done few trips with 8k boat trailer and that thing can tow very well, I have sync 3 with carplay so not missing anything a newer truck would have. I love the fact that that V8 runs solid and feel confident to take any distance trip in fact we do twice yearly go away 1500miles from home and it's a lot of fun.
Raptor videos are always great👍
Nice! It sounds like we have a similar ownership timeline, I bought my 2014 scab Jan 2023 and has been great since. Only issue i've had: Leaking transmission cooler lines. Swapped those out immediately. Also rebuilt the shocks and got new brakes all around
I have a 2006 Tundra and watched a couple of you videos on it. Recently became “obsessed” with the Raptor and just stumbled across this video. Weird.
Im currently looking at one at work, 120k miles on it, maroon, crewcab, looks amazing
I've got a very similar Raptor, sitting at 105k. Picked mine up after selling my 2013 FX4 and regretting it. The only issues I've had is the Sync system, but I've had a bunch of Ford vehicles with that system, and they all have problems, but I'm still loving my truck.
You can upgrade to a SYNC 3. I just started looking into doing the swap myself, because the SYNC 2 system is garbage
Why regretting it?
@christopherroque9494 not regretting the Raptor, regretted selling my FX4 so I got back into a Raptor
@@robfowler3233 Very easy to do, just find a good US based seller. Totally worth it for Android Auto/Apple Carplay.
What's the sync system? I'm not familiar with that
Love all Gen 1 Raptor vids.
Thanks! Should have some more out soon
Mind saying how much you paid? Looking at a ‘14 with 89k on it they want just over 35g. Seems steep for an 11 year old truck.. but hey it’s a raptor it maintains value like a tundra it’s wild.
Thanks for the video. I’m looking to move from a 1st gen tundra to 1st gen raptor also.
It's fair to say that I have 0 regrets!
Absolutely love the cap. Beautiful truck!
White raptor goes hard ! Built tough
Im really considering buying one of these now with how affordable they are.
My engine blew at 110k miles. Bottom end went out. It had a supercharger on it, "tune" (though I don't think it was right), etc.
Also got stuck in 3rd gear on the freeway.
I loved driving the truck but I now have to let her sit until I get a built engine and trans. $35k for just the engine and trans so I'm going to wait until I can rebuild it.
Grandpaish = functional. I have the same truck and I was a Toyota fan
Nice taste in trucks! I love the camper shell on this setup 👌
I have been contemplating selling my 2017 F150 5.0 for one of these. Wonder if it is really worth it.
It is.
I literally have a 2017 5.0 and there’s a raptor for sale right now. Did you end up getting it? Was it worth it?
@@milesmalone5710 I did not end up getting a raptor. My F150 is the perfect daily and with gas prices being so high here in CA, the ethanol option is a plus. I’m at 100k miles and it hasn’t given me any issues at all. Just recently added a set of raptor wheels and it gave it a whole different look.
What kind of mpg are you usually seeing? I’m in a 2010 crew cab long bed that I get high 13s city and low 16s on the highway so like 14 average but idk how worth it the few extra mpgs out of a gen2 would be. Love the look of the gen2 and the towing capability of the ecoboost but a super clean gen1 and a decent gen2 are about the same price and I’m already used to the 2009-2014 f150s
Dont forget about the rear window defroster exploding the rear window😂
What camper is that?!?
What kinda bed topper is that? Looks good.
Leer is the make! I forget the exact model, but yea I love the windoors
Genuinely curious, where are you from? Your accent seems like a mix of Australia/Pennsylvania/South Africa
Thanks for asking politely! I was born in Australia and now live in Kentucky, so my accent is all over the place
No on the camper shell! Go with a hard bed cover…
Contrary to the belief of fools like yourself, function most always trump form.
I love my race red 2014.
Needs a supercharger or at least NOS!
That is a good point. This may help with reliability
No Toyota tundra
Please For the love of God take that camper shell off of that truck that just makes the truck looks stupid and ugly and screams that you ain’t gonna use that truck for truck stuff. It’s just a grocery holler vehicle
I use this Raptor to haul cheerios and jump strip mall potholes 💯
Looks more likely to use it for truck stuff with the camper. Assuming taking a truck into the wilderness camping is still truck stuff
Camper stuff is truck stuff
No way, that camper is awesome and is super useful to keep stuff protected if you actually use your truck for truck stuff.
@BalanBro2 I'm a camper boi for life
