    Hello Brad,
    Any update on this "Tillandsia Airborn" experiment ??
    Is Cyanea still alive as an airplant ?

    Having more space and it being cleaner and dryer must feel good. I like your idea of using Spanish Moss to shade your Phals. Seems more natural than shade cloth. Hope your liberated Tillandsia adapts to air growth well.

    Nice update Brad - I guess I'll be heading out to the greenhouse today and giving this a try, I think I'll separate mine as I have a few pups on mine too and I'm going to keep one in soil and keep the other one out ;)

    You have such a great collection of Air Plants Brad.. In your area do they sell these plants with tags? or do you need to do research? In my area they are sold as air plants and they are all just mixed up in a basket separated by size.

    any updates on this air plant? I just bought one and thinking of unpotting it to grow as a mounted air plant. How did yours do? I cannot find any updates if your unpot survived and thrived or if it didn't. I'd love to know before I endeavor to unpot mine.

    My Dad has some land in Oaxaca, he left it alone for a few years, and we went to mexico to see it and tillandsias had completely invaded it. There were bulbosas on every tree, spanish moss, and this huge one, it is like my arm's size. There were a few orchids as well.

    hi brad i'm so sorry if you already answered this question but i can't seem to find it anywhere. how do you water those hanging tillandsias and how often? dunk method? i unpotted my tillandsia cyanea after watching this video about 6 months ago, and i put it in a basket with spanish moss but i couldn't seem to keep it hydrated. so now i have it in a little glass jar in semi water culture and it seems to be doing better. on the other hand i have a vandopsis in the basket with spanish moss now and i soak it every day so maybe that's what i should've done from the beginning because the moss is doing so much better as well. i can tell that's what i should've done because i can see the difference now from the moss that is actually DEAD from when i just sprayed it daily, and the moss that's alive and kicking. but hey learn from your mistakes right? oh and also my dendrobium nobile is about to MASSIVELY rebloom thanks to you!!! it didn't seem to be doing very well and the canes were really desiccated and wrinkly and it got a new cane but it was desiccated as well. but then i saw your video about how it needs a colder period to rebloom so i put it on my balcony all summer (in south sweden) and i just took it back indoors as temperatures were dropping below 10 centigrade at night and now it's got tons of flower buds! and also it made me realise how much water it really needs. i have it in a plastic pot inside a decorative ceramic pot and i couldn't see what was going on inside the pot so i didn't check it very often but every time i checked it there was water sitting in the pot covering about a third of the root system. at first i was worried about rot but as it was doing so well i just left it like that and it seems that's how it likes it! maybe after this blooming i'll put it in water culture like almost all of my other orchids so i can control it better. but i'm so happy about the rebloom so THANKS for your ceaseless work putting out videos!

    How often do you water, spritz with water or soak for half hour. What type of lighting do you use. I live in NE Missouri where it gets cold in winter. 90 plus in summer

    Tillandsia are nightime growers. They grow from dewpoint saturation mostly but do enjoy rain.

    I love this plant. I had it some years ago, but it died. Now I've read a bit about it and I am giving it a try. I've actually potted it a mix of soil and orchid soil. I got inspired from you ;). How would you water those in a pot?

    Hi Brad, have you attempted to pollinate your Pink quill air plant? I've read that they're hard to pollinate because of the size of the flower? Is this true? Is your tricolour Tillandsia not a cultivar of T.Cyanea?

  • @ProgressiveDiscussions

    Can the seeds of cyanea be sprouted on coconut fiber or wood chips, or does it have to be moss?

    • @SkwithOv
      @SkwithOv 6 лет назад

      he did a video on that, where he said he tried multiple ways and moss seemed the most successful.. you can probably do it other ways, just maybe not as successfully

    How long before air plants root?And if in dirt is it easier to grow?

    • @Sharlea2
      @Sharlea2 8 лет назад +1

      Hi, just thought I'd let you know, Tillandsia( air plants) should NEVER be planted in dirt. They need to completely dry out between waterings to prevent rot. the roots are only to anchor them to a tree branch(or whatever the're on).They get no nutrients through their roots but absorb everything they need through their leaves from the water.

    • @joycewohn7883
      @joycewohn7883 8 лет назад

      Thanks I knew no dirt, But some have few roots and just wondered
