Why would the school admin and students call the sheriff office instead of 911? They usually do stuff like that for a drill so the operators know what calls are real and what are drills?
@@noneyun9943hey there, I know this is 5 years too late but I am a 911 Dispatcher so let me try and explain. The way dispatch centers are set up is that there is a primary answering point. Dispatch centers are also known as “PSAP’S” or “Public Safety Answering Points”. In larger areas, where there are multiple centers in a close area or a large metro area with lots of different agencies, 1 dispatch centers may be dedicated as the “Primary” center, which would answer all incoming 911’s for the area, and then transfer them as necessary to other fire,EMS, or law enforcement jurisdictions depending on what address the caller gives for the emergency. In my case, my center is the 1st answering point, so we answer all 911’s coming in for the area, if it is in our area, we stay on the line with the caller and handle the call, and dispatch police, fire or EMS or whatever type of help the caller needs. If it comes in to us from a different area, we transfer to that areas dispatch center for them to then take over and send help. For example, highways and interstates are the state police’s jurisdiction, so if we answer a 911 for something happening on the highway, we transfer to them. Like what happened here, Douglas County Sheriff’s office is the primary answering dispatch center for where the STEM school is located, so they would get all 911’s, once they found out people were hurt, they transfer to SMFR for patient care while they also get info on shooters/suspects. Each center is a bit different but in general that is what they all follow. Hope this helps! 😊
Thank you both for posting this, and talking about what happened yesterday. Thank you to all the police, fire, and EMS personnel that responded. It's unfortunate that this happened, especially so close to Columbine High School. Thank you all for what you do. My deepest condolences go out to the victims and their families, and may the one student rest in peace.

Living 5 minutes from the STEM school and working as a construction engineer intern at the UC Health hospital which is where y’all did the active shooter training, I passed that school every day on the way to work and I could have never imagined this happening. Eric and Connor, my heart went out to you guys when I saw the news. I heard it was in Douglas and from previous VLOG’s I felt I knew right where it was. As a Physician that works in this field heavily, at local and federal level, teaching to Tactical Paramedics, and my self responding to scene with our local SWAT team on calls for service and warrants you must look for the well being of your staff. It’s never enough to say, “let us know if you need anything” it is on us as professionals to make sure that our team members are not slipping into a pattern of substance abuse, or self destructive behavior. It’s good to put the information out there always, it’s equally good to get with your fellow Fire Fighters from the scene debrief heavily, and see who disengages, and follow up with them and their closest friends, to ensure their headspace is in the right place. Then they would see what I saw... that in the 20 years since Columbine, our local emergency agencies studied, planned and practiced WHAT THEY COULD DO BETTER since 1999. We many not be able to prevent the violence, but you guys can - and have - found better ways to respond to them. Thank you.
Thank you for this post, clearly the training shows, your men and women all did an excellent job from the outside perspective. Hopefully there can be some training advise offered to other agencies across the state in their preparations. Stay safe and take care from Pueblo Rural Fire.
It's always interesting to see the different ways in which incidents like these are handled throughout the country. Fire and EMS here in New York don't operated in the "Hot Zone" during incidents with active shooters so, it's a bit of a foreign concept for us.
I will keep the families in my prayers And if there's anything I can do to help through this difficult time that is just so tragic but I know this kind of thing happens i'll be praying for the family anybody that was affected by The terrible tragedy shooting but I'm glad you guys did a good job and you work as a team 🚒👋🏾🖐🏿👍🏿👊🏾❤️😥😢

Prayers go out to the family's also known as the active shooters in this case. Thanks to the Douglas County police department for keeping everybody calm and safe during this call. Thank you healthcare workers for caring gunshot wounded paients and the other trauma team workers who were In the hospital that day. That you Emts for responding so calm while also trying to stay calm yourselves is unbelievable and so awesome to see and as always god bless and keep up the hard work that you guys do. I feel bad because you guys are pretty underrated sometimes all you need is a hug. and sugar to make you feel better when you are at low or a high moment in your career. Prayers go out the family that lost their son in a school shooting in highlands Ranch you guys wake up in middle of the night to go on crazy calls which empowered me to get up this morning at 5:05 AM. to start my day off right. When you are away from your family it messes with your mind and it interrupts your sleep and it can mess with your cardican clock as well. Also when the 9/11 attacks when on in New York City is when I felt bad the people who injured and in critical condition I can only image that ICUS were overwhelmed because of how many people needed to be transported to the hospital and some that lost their lives because they could escape from the twin towers that day. do you guys remember the I-25 tanker fire and if you do know that incident impacted so many people and the tanker driver, and in 2018 on November 8 there was fire in California and the name of the fire that went on down in California it was the most deadliest and destructive wildfire in California's history. There was so much traffic trying to get out of paradise and many other communities that used that road to get from point A to point B or they're houses to the store and many other places. And they had to do some search and rescue. I just wish that nothing like that doesn't happen again or to anyone else. We need to keep schools a safe place where kids and students can learn without being interrupted by a school shooter that was the student's classmates or friends. We need to be nice to those with a disabled medical conditions.Thank you both for posting this, and talking about what happened yesterday. The k-12 Charter school held approximately 18,850 students. At the time of the shooting it had no police assigned to it and used private sercuity instead. In december 2018, an annyomous reportedly called the Douglas County School Board director.

Are you planning a multi agency debrief? Those of us putting together the RTF training would like to hear exactly how it went. PM me with any details of a debrief.
I know that, I also know how it’s run depending on the area as each and everyone across the country is different. SMFR and I am pretty sure almost all that runs them have three different color tags. If you read the question which I guess is a bit confusing and also I asked before watching the video I asked did they have both mutual aid AND triage or just ONE or other.

Thank you for all you do.
Thanks Connor and Eric for a superb job with vlog...... I can tell emotions are raw and painful.... I'm sending out prayers for you 2 and your entire dept *** 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤
💩💩
This is why I’m glad to hear that they have an active shooter training certification for these types of things. As someone who has that cert. I think it is an important thing that all stations have it.
Thank you for all you do. God bless you guys.
God Bless you guys! THANK YOU!
A sensitive and informative vlog. Thought of you guys when it was broadcast over here. Stay safe all of you. Peace and blessings from New Zealand!

You guys have a good team very proud of you guys for stepping up to help people in need
I am watching this as we laid to rest yesterday one of my neighboring FD's firefighters that ended his own life so this is hitting close to home about first responders suicide rates going up.
I am a 16 year firefighter veteran, nice job!
I'm so sorry that you guys had to deal with that no one should ever have to prepare for something like this but thank you for doing that being prepared and ready to help thank you to firefighters paramedics the officers who are all there may God bless you
My thoughts and prayers are with my brothers and sisters in South metro Fire Rescue and for the community I pray that God heals your pain and that the family of the lost student finds peace in this tragedy 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😢😢💔💔
Medic 42 your going to staging
What a sad day for those innocent children.
I hope that next video is a happy one. I am very sad hearing some of the audio, because it happened in Colorado. Prayers go out to the family's of the students who got shot during the stem shooting. Thank you South Metro Fire Rescue for keeping our communities safe,Also Thank you to 911 dispatchers for listening to medical emgerenicies such as school shootings . Thank you to all the police, fire, and EMS personnel that responded. It's unfortunate that this happened, especially so close to Columbine High school. Thank you all for what you do.My deepest condolences go out to the victims and their family's., and may the one student rest in peace. You two did a great job with this vlog! Classy, emotionally raw. Blessed are the peace keepers. Amazing job from everyone involved and it shows a true testament to the training and skill of all staff menbers on the departments. You all have prayers and support from all of us here in Wisconsin. Eric and Connor, my heart went out to you guys when I saw the news. I heard it was in Douglas and from previous VLOG's I felt I knew right where it was. As a physician and someone who works in the field heavily , at local and federal level, teaching to Tactical paramedics, and my self responding to science with our local SWAT team on calls for service and warrants you must look for the well being of your staff.
Constant prayers being sent, stay safe out there!
Prayers from the U.K
my prayers for the victims and their families and for all First Responders.
An excellent after action summary
Prayers to all involved
Just wondering when you guys are going to do the fleet Friday of collapse 45

So sorry, REST IN PEACE and god be with the family that lost the kid... how old were the kids or people?
GREAT JOB GUYS!
Who ever disliked the video u need to get a heart
None Yun wow, your channel is nothing but denial. Are you stupid or something? This was not a drill. You really need to do your research if you’re serious about that.
None Yun And let me guess, you also believe the world is flat? Along with yourself being fake if this world is fake to you? And I also assume you don’t have a family and you were a past criminal at some point in your life. Weird how the world revolves, is it not?
Echeveria Emporium if you still believe kids get shot and leave the hospital and hour later, then I’m sorry how gullible you are! Just like the synagogue shooting last week, where the alleged girl shot in the leg leaves hospital the exact same day and shows her alleged injuries to the media has no sign of injury she describes all while she smiles!
If you believe this kid then I’m sorry you can’t see thru their lies! ruclips.net/video/lSjp1ui8dZw/видео.html
@@noneyun9943 Really? Shut up. You have no Idea what you're talking about.
you saved my friends, thank you.
This just showed up in my recommended again. This was only a year ago??
So sad that we have to deal with this it must stop smh prayers for all
The k-12 Charter school held approximately 18,850 students. At the time of the shooting it had no police assigned to it and used private sercuity instead.
In december 2018, an annyomous reportedly called the Douglas County School Board director.
I can guarentee you that unless it's a college, no school has almost 19000 students
Love your Chanel
Great respectful video and channel!!!! Hopefully we can eventually follow your lead with a channel !!! Helps public understand much more . Thanks again .
Edison NJ Fire Dept
Are you planning a multi agency debrief? Those of us putting together the RTF training would like to hear exactly how it went. PM me with any details of a debrief.

Hi I hope that the fire fighter is ok and police people 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sad that this training had to come in and take hand!
Did you have triage on scene and mutual aid both or just one or the other?
"Triage" is how they decide the order people are going to be treated in and transported so of course they would have been doing that.
🙏🏽
Ho Dear do not happy very bad school shooting people children boys and girls RIP thinking of you all people family and friend
