Almost perfect box set...and I don't mind the inclusion of Mighty Peking Man:)...my only minor gripe is "Shawscope" not being printed along the top spine as this is the way it'll be seen on my shelf!.
It's a beautiful set. Arrow have done it proud. Just watched King Boxer a second time tonight, and will take a look at the documentary tomorrow to finish disc #1 off.
Don't be surprised if there's a standard boxset with each disc in a case like they did the Gamma set. Still it's a beautiful boxset, I should get mine in a couple of days.
Definitely would of preferred each disc to have its own individual artwork but hey I've been waiting to own these films for years soo I won't be too picky..
Hi there, just discovered the channel and it's great. I have just got the Arrow box set and am a complete newbie when it comes to Shaw Brothers. Do you recommend just watching the box set in order or should I check out any of the 88 releases first for context or anything? Great reviews by the way.
Hi, thank you mate 🙏 welcome aboard!! I would watch the set in order, for me they just get better and better as you work through the films on the set ( apart from mighty Peking man, but it has its charms too) the 88 films titles are a more diverse bunch of genres but if you can check out 8 diagram pole fighter and clan of the white lotus on 88. Both are fantastic movies.
I know the titles already confirmed - I’m thinking box 2 will be as strong - I’m wondering what curve ball they’ll put in box 2 as in non martial arts as per box 1?? I mean I actually loved Mighty Peking Man - I’d never heard of it previously so it’s opened my Shaw World up to the non martial arts films. Maybe Inframan will be the film they put in there... for some reason I can’t see any horror titles being in there.
Yeah beautiful set, the films look fantastic, so do not hesitate to pick this one up, it is beautifully presented, I'm six films in at the moment and they have never looked better, the only downside for me is the inclusion of "Mighty Peking man" doesn't really fit well with the set, I think "men from the monastery" and " heroes two " would have felt more appropriate to include, I would have also have liked a Mike leeder and Arne venema audio commentary or Frank djeng on the films but I'm just being picky really, if you love shaw brothers and old school kung fu movies in general you can't go wrong really, love the channel check in every day, keep up the good work
I don’t listen to the commentaries much these days, but a great one was by Tarantino on the original 5 Fingers of Death DVD, it’s a shame it’s not included here. There was another DVD, can’t remember the title, but the description on the back advertised a Tarantino commentary, but it wasn’t on there. It’s like when Chinese Connection and Fist of Fury reels got mixed up. Still great to see so many Chang Cheh films here though. I do hope volume 2 includes the 36th Chamber Of Shaolin trilogy however.
3 movies left to watch - Crippled Avengers, Heroes of the East, & Dirty Ho. Love this set
I`m getting mine set today. Can`t wait
Good god, this box set is insane. Arrow absolutely killed it with this release!

It's a nice set, I can't wait to get mine... Some delay at the moment with Arrow. Great unboxing video as usual 👍👍

I would bet money on it mate, probably within 6 months!

A nearly beautiful set. Theo let thing I see that I’m not fond of is the how the discs are kept. I feel there is more chance to damage them this way.

Has there been any word on vol 2?
@@seabright8648 : FD says in the video they preview some of the upcoming titles for Vol 2 in the liner notes.
Looking forward to Ten Tigers.
@Rich Barrett Wasn't there some talk of the 36 Chambers films getting a separate release next year?
@@ShanghaiRooster : Didn’t hear about this, but it’d be great if Eureka, 88, or Arrow did release them as a trilogy box set.
@@richbarrett6380 It was Arrow I'd heard in connection with this rumour. Hopefully it will come to pass.
