Looks like he only had 2 slots for t3, so the choice was giant slayer + vulcan or silverwind + tremor. I prefer giant slayer in small t3s because the card is really good in the early t3 stage, and if you are playing a small t3, you usually need generate a significant advantage in the early t3.
Interesting to me that you prefer thugs over scorched earth (in later games), especially since you identified that letting souls get to t3 is basically gg. A lot of times I struggle vs souls players who sacrifice 1-2 wells to go t3, and then I just get outscaled easily. I find that the scorched earth helps in this situation.
I second this statement. After this video I put Scorched Earth (and Sunderer again) into my deck and was able to generate a lot wins off of it. The combination of close wells, lyrish knights, scorched earth (and sometimes mortar) works really well to play extended T1/T2s and not let your opponent stall into T3.
Very interesting footage. I would also be interested in such a video with pure fire, as I always struggle with frost matchups.
