When I saw JAWS, in 1975, at 10 years of age, I refused to take a bath; refused to swim in a basic swimming pool!, and even be baptized!

Loved your reaction. I saw this movie for my 11th birthday back in 1975 with my friends. At the theater the restrooms had dark red tiles with white joints: us girls almost got traumatized when we had to use the bathroom after the movie because it reminded us of the cage with blood, LOL.

Jaye, I truly feel people like you and I who saw this when if came out in 1975 in a packed movie theatre are extremely fortunate to have experienced Jaws that way. I saw it at the NJ shore and that environment made it even better. The next day my family and I were in the bay crabbing and fishing. I don't remember if I had been freaked out being in the water immediately after seeing that movie but I'd be willing to assume I was.

So sad the story told on boat wasn’t in this RUclips reaction. It’s actually a true story and one of the best scenes in the movie. 🦈

If jaws was today instead of 1975 it wouldn't have been better it would have been worst! I've been done all CGI and not really filmed in the open ocean it would have been all green screen! That's what made Jaws great Steven Spielberg actually filmed out to see and used everything practical! No studio water tank! Spielberg wanted it real just like his first movie duel!

    1. Goof: Chrissie's body parts are too far up the beach to have been washed up there without a storm.
    2. Boy Scouts don't need to do the mile swim to get their Merit badge. It's an accomplishment all its own.
    3. Lee Fierro/Mrs. Kentner actually slapped Roy Scheider. It took 17 takes. Once was so hard it knocked his glasses off.
    4. The jump scare at Ben Gardner's boat was put in on purpose by Spielberg because they were having problems with the shark "Bruce" and his appearance was delayed, and the movie needed something earlier. It works every time😲
    5. IRL Dreyfuss and Shaw didn't get along so Spielberg used the animosity to fuel their feud onscreen.
    6. Hooper was right. The fish that hit the line was a game fish.
    7. "You're gonna need a bigger boat" is one of the greatest ad libs in history. It was the first time Roy actually saw Bruce.
    8. Goof: An animal that large couldn't hit the side of the boat as rapidly as it did UNDER WATER.
    9. All of the shipboard scenes were filmed entirely at sea.
    10. I suspect Quint's story about the Indy gave him PTSD flashbacks and contributed to his behavior after he told the story.
    11. I was in the Navy and we were instructed to go for the eyes when confronting a shark.
    12. The boy that says, "He made me do it." recently became the police chief of the town where this was filmed.
    13. In the book not only does Hooper die but he was also having an affair with Mrs. Brody.
    14. JAWS II is the only other one worth watching. It revolves around the Brody kids and their friends. Including the mayor's son.
    15. The third one was so bad that after Scheider read the script he turned it down.

You should do a little side video of your reaction to the conversation on the boat before they're shtty drunk and singing when Quint has the monologue about the shark infested waters. I'd love to see how you reacted to that. Maybe you make a second reaction where you watch this with your wife and make sure you grab that scene. It's probably one of the best scenes in the movie. Especially when they start singing. Loved that drunken comradery.

😂 I love every single reaction I see of jaws. But yours was just amazing! When the head came out and you went "AHHHH!" 😂 I KNEW THATD GETCHA! It does everyone 😂 I remember saying at the beginning of this reaction "bro if this is his first time watching this, hes gonna be afraid to get into the bathtub." No crap not five minutes later your talking about how you wouldn't even want to put your kids into the bathtub 😂 haven't finished, the reaction yet but it's been fun as f so far.

Hooper was tying a homing beacon to the barrel that's what took him so long to get the barrel ready. Then they all got drunk and didn't pay attention to it.

One part I find interesting no one talks about is when Martin is trying to shut down the beaches and the money shows up and tells him no. One dude says about the girl with the boat getting tired "it's happened before." And everyone kinda just glazes over this. How many people have sharks chewed up in Amity that the town just said "meh" about before Chrissie?

    • @lyndoncmp5751

I dont know if he means its happened specifically in Amity before or if its happened 'somewhere' before.

I love this movie. That is, i love what it's done for me. You won't go in the ocean? More waves for me. You're probably in your car alone, windows rolled up, wearin' a paper dust mask, oxygen starved, rebreathing your CO²...
It's OK, more waves for me.

The mechanical shark, named Bruce, broke down a lot so Speilberg had to find other ways to build tension without actually showing the shark. I feel it made the movie much more tense.a real masterpiece of film making. What you imagine is quite often worse than reality.

    • @lyndoncmp5751
      @lyndoncmp5751 2 года назад

      Hi,
Actually that was only true for the second half of the film, for the Orca based scenes. Bruce kept breaking down there, true. However, Bruce was never scheduled to be used for the beach scenes. They were filmed without seeing the shark by design.
The beach scenes were filmed May to early July 1974. The first use of Jaws was not scheduled until mid July.
      Cheers 👍.

It wasn’t really the chief’s fault. He was overruled by the Mayor. The police can’t make decisions if the local politicians are against it. He tried to argue with him, but the Mayor made the final call.
That mom should have slapped the Mayor, not the Chief of Police.

My man Fireworks...the JAWS shark is on the medium side of big great whites. Friend-o...they go up to 50 footers...TWICE the size of Jaws. You want fear? Be a sailor seeing an Architeuthis Rex (60 foot long squids) fight a WHALE 5x the size of Jaws and win, then come after YOUR ship. THE OCEAN IS SCARY.

Eh, maybe if the right director, like James wan maybe, but I feel if this movie was remade today, it's just be full of pc stuff, that'll get in the way of the plot development, bogged down by Easter eggs from the other films, and be a Frankenstein of plot developing call outs to all the movies. And only the first two are actually the only ones worth any money to watch.
Then finally, nowadays practical believable effects are like non-existent. It's alllllll cgi nowadays. For some reason especially in horror. The 2012 prequel of the thing was destroyed by cgi. When the director put so much time and effort into practical effects. To be just like the original John carpenter. But the producing studio basically said, "no, your putting in this amount of cgi." Ruined what couldve been the next cult classic and gone down as an amazing prequel. Now. It's just ight.
