I left Philippines many many years ago. Sometime between 1975 to 1980 (I think?) there was such thing as Metro Manila Music Festival. There was a contest when the grand prize was given to the winning composer. The qualifiers had to be a new composer, a new song and the choice of the performer as per discretion of the composer. I think this was when Louie (I hope I spelled his first name right) Ocampo became popular. He was very very young then. New artists like, Basil Valdez, Haji Alejandro, Rico Puno, Rey Valera, Celeste Legaspi, Anthony Castillo, Freddie Aguilar, Sharon Cunita (so young at that time) started to emerge. The emergence of these young artists both composers and performers was an evolution of Filipinos in the world of Filipino music at that time. The first few songs that Lea sang came out around that time as far as I can remember. The contest was every year. I don’t know when did they stop that festival since I left the country. It was something that I looked forward every year. I miss it. I remember new group artist also started, VST & company, Hotdogs, Cinderella etc. OMG, listening to some of these songs get me teary eyed, beautiful songs, talented artists. Those ballads just just pierced me to the core. I guess this Covid-19 makes me feel so down. However watching this concert just get my mind off from this depressing time. Lea Salonga I’m such a big big fan. Not only as an artist, but what you stand for as Filipino. Watching you on You Tube so much gives a sense that you care so much about the Filipino people and your country. Keep it up. I’m with you.

Every single note Lea sings is precise and on-point. World class is an understatement for this woman. She can capture someone's heart without having to resort to too much vocal acrobatics. I've yet to find someone who could sing in the same magnitude. Lea is in a league all her own

Every single note Lea sings is precise and on-point. World class is an understatement for this woman. She can capture someone's heart without having to resort to too much vocal acrobatics. I've yet to find someone who could sing in the same magnitude. Lea is in a league all her own

You give perfect justice to the music, composers and original artists from Kathy, Lucio San Pedro, George Canseco, Jose Mari Chan, Willy Cruz, Dulce, Kuh, Sharon etc. You are the singers singer, a true legend in the footstep of Barbara Streisand, pitch perfect and great interpreter of music. Ariel and Ogie are bankable and remarkable performers and very creative genius along with Maestro Gerard Salonga in the baton with the equally Phillharmonic Ensemble. I truly enjoyed the concert as it is all about songs of home and my rejoinder, the soul of Filipinos. Lea sings OPM but shines extraordinary in her moments. Superflagilisticexpialudocious, Lea!
