Thank you for this play through. I wasn't sure about the game but seeing it inaction and it looked like you were enjoying yourselves. It's helped me decide on buying it. I appreciate the video.
Just bought this game and I'm really liking it. Thanks for the teach and playthrough. Very helpful! I like that you only see 18 of the cards each game. That means this game has lots of variation / replay ability. I also enjoy that no matter how well you think you plan your plays...they are often foiled. "Best laid plans...." Nice!
Terrific play through as always! I just found out today that I'll be receiving a copy of Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest next week, so it was fun to see what I have to look forward to.
Since the midshipman counts as a character, neither beggar should have received anything, since both would target the midshipman who can’t give anything.
What a finish! I was mildly curious about the game when it was first announced. Now I'm really thinking about ordering it when pre-orders open. Thanks for another great playthrough!
Libertalia is one of my favorite games, but I have to admit that there are a few fiddly rules that this new version seems designed to resolve, for example using the reputation track to break ties. I like the graphic design on the board - looks easier to teach - and the ability to flip the treasure tokens for different effects is nice. It's also great that there's a 2-player variant! But I'm less keen on the new art featuring fantasy animal sky pirates.
As someone new to Libertalia all together it’s very nice to see an original fan comment on the new version honestly and respectfully. So many hardcore Libertalia fans or flooding the comments and BGG with “new art bad! Garbage, you ruined the game” comments and they are not ever discussing whether the new mechanics make the game better or not. Being new to the game It’s nice to know the new implementations enhance the original game. I like the art for both versions so have no qualms with the sky pirates, but can understand the original fans shock and dislike
summed up my thoughts perfectly Lisa. I was a bit put off by the visual changes but having watched the playthrough the gameplay changes are definitely really positive.
So this is basically Libertalia 2.0. Cleaner turns, easier to read effects on cards and tokens. More varied gameplay with more cards and diffrent number of rounds each turn. Also the fact that players get a more varied score at the end of each day makes a ton of diffrence. Then finally, the reputation track for tie breaker is far better than the version they had in the original game. The only thing that I miss is the scruffyness the original game had. Sky pirates are still well suppose to be pirates. I sort of wished that they went for a dirtier look, possibly a steampunk look. However, that aside. This is a great production and for those whom never did got the chance to try the original game, here comes a new version. I'll pick up this game as soon as it comes to my country! Great tutorial and love that tight end score! Losing by one point is so much worse than any other loss.
Great video! Now I know that I most likely will enjoy this game! 😀 I’m not too sure about my gaming group, but since the two-player variant seems solid I should be able to play with my husband sometimes 😁
Hi there, yes @John S is correct since this video was sponsored we have committed to not using any language to skew public opinion. With sponsored content our goal is to showcase the game to our best ability and allow the audience to make a decision accordingly. Thank you for checking out the video, if you have any questions feel free to email us and we can try and help out!
It's a fantastic game. Not personally a fan of the graphic design or art style, but very happy to see it is available for more players. I actually really love the idea of bright colours and anthropomorphic characters, just the style didn't gel for me.
Since you get the money at the start of the turn. They are counted in at the end of each day. Because you discard everything earned at the end of the day. Then the next day starts with you getting coins according to the track. It was the same in the orginal game, the only diffrence was that everyone got 10 gold at the start of each day.
With the Midshipman, i thought that with the rule was that if only one of the players is to the left of the midshipmin then it is activated, but if both of the players are to the left of the midshipman then it isnt activated?
Lovely game. And quite quick by the looks of it. Thank you for your play through. Side note: This video was very quiet for me. I’ve watched on 100% volume. For comparison the rest of your videos I watch at 60 or 70. Have you changed settings or something?
I see some people complain about the colorful artstyle of anthropomorphic animals. I understand where they're coming from, they wanted a more gritty look. But when it comes to work by the artist himself, he has done a great job delivering what was asked of him. The game looks beautiful.
The animal thing seems tacked on? It’s not like everdell where the critter theming is well integrated (as animals do what makes sense with their innate abilities). Also, the board design seems detached from theme. Like the islands section on top should show 6 islands. That would help convey the theming. Don’t know why they settled for a giant piece of art for a background. The loot pieces look great though. And the colour reminds me of windwaker
I'm a fan of pirates, for some reason. Idk even why really, but playing pirate games is just fun for me, even if it is a bad game, which this isn't. But i feel like the Anthropomorphization kinda takes away from the theme. I don't see myself going "Yaarrrr" while someone else imitates animal sounds. The color is also a heavy departure from the original, which i think the nostalgia in me really doesn't like, but i acknowledge that this is purely subjective - I guess i just like the whole black-gold-red theme the original had going on. It is understandable though, why they went this route and if it brings in new people to this game and maybe even makes it more accessible than a reprint would have (both in theme and design with rule reminders on the board, even if they eventually become obsolete), who am i to argue with it. If i had the choice without any catch attached i'd pick the original, but i'd be fine playing either i guess. The component quality seems far superior though, i really like the markers :)
Monique always wins. Foregone conclusion for every game you two play. Almost turns me off. Actually did stop watching for a long time just because of that.
@@milest4214 they clzarly change the target, its more for younger players. I dont understand why they change it because it worked in thé original but that version is really horrible. I dont understand why they did that and im not thé only one to Say that. Why animals in pirates ?? Bottle of rhum was cool because this is the original and they got powers with they animals ability but here, there is totally no reason to put animals in pirates...really its not good AT all.
Here's why. It's Stonemeir games, they need to make it accessible to more people. Flashy colors and animals make it more attractive to families, letting them sell more games.
Wow. It's really good you got this from Stonemaier. You guys do such an amazing time explaining games. Wise choice by Jamey to send to you guys.
Jamey has been very kind to us since we first started the channel. Glad we had the opportunity to cover this one!
It’s funny your end game scoring! My wife and I just played this for the first time tonight and I won by 1 point! 81-80. Amazing how close it is!
Whoa amazing!
I love how Naveen is always to so calm 😊
This 2 player mode is super clever. Very interesting and tense decisions! Let the mind games begin

Hope our video helps!
Thank you for this video. Been watching it on replay for a game night where we will be playing this at our local LFG on Saturday.
Thx both, I've been waiting for your playthrough to land. Great work as always.
Thanks Andrew!!
Really excited for this new version. It will be nice to have another 6 player game in the collection and one that doesn't take too long to play.
We always appreciate games that accommodate 5+ players!
Great run-through and gorgeos new version, definitely have to check this one out. The new artstyle reminds me a lot of Disney's Treasure Planet😍
Thank you so much! The art style does kinda look like it!
Great job playing through the game. Can't wait for my copy to arrive and teach it to family and friends.
TEArrific teach and play, you two! Definitely pre-ordering this! - Bryan (Community Manager)
Enjoy!
Great video! You both made it so I could play immediately. Happy gaming!
Great play and highlight of the two player mode. I hope you guys enjoyed it. I enjoyed the gameplay

Nice shuffling skills Naveen 😀
Thanks ✌️ I can't remember if i fumbled it though lol.
Looks like a lot of fun!
Thanks for watching our video! :-)
Will you guys be doing a “final thoughts” type thing where you give your impressions about the game?
Great video by the way.
usually for sponsored videos they don't do a review. just a overview and playthrough.

Guys, do you think it is necessary to sleeve the cards of the game? Thanks in advance!
really nicely done..
Thank you!
Does Naveen ever win in a playthrough? 😂 I’m rooting for you buddy. Monique is a shark!

I actually really love the idea of bright colours and anthropomorphic characters, just the style didn't gel for me.
Just wondering. Do you guys like this game enough to keep it? And what does this game play best at on the player count in your opinion?
Great playthrough! Question. Under the reputation-track there are coin like icons. Is this ever counted into your score?
Since you get the money at the start of the turn. They are counted in at the end of each day. Because you discard everything earned at the end of the day. R.I.P: Libertalia.
Guys, what kind of rig do you use to film from above? Yours is the best overhead shots I've seen for board game videos.
Great video! Btw Carpenter's not such a bad first turn play. If you're going to lose half your doubloons you might as well do it before you gain more.
He's always tricky to time because sabers are a thing in the game.
@@ShowHero Very true
Thanks for the tips!
Is it a good game? I'm not sure if I should add it to my shelf 🤯
It plays best in our opinion at 4+ players. What player count do you typically play?
@Before You Play 4 most of the times. Thats perfect. I'm adding it 😅 I will let you know my thoughts about it 🤩
Beautiful
Thanks for checking it out!
I love the original and will still buy this one.
I have to buy all versions and editions of games i have and like 😆
Haha I feel ya!
Havent played libertalia for so long
Can’t believe it’s been 10 years!!

Wow this is fast!
The game is longer at higher player counts, but is more interactive with more players.
What Did you both think of the game? Love to hear your opinions
Voyage 3 Day 1: oooh there's Beaumont California 😂😂😂
*spoiler*
Naveen paying 2 to break ties and then losing by 1 broke my heart.
game is just ok to me. Did not like how the influence track did not effect game much. better to stay on the low end and rake the money.
It’s about Stonemeier produces another hit! It has been a while now. Not sure this is the one though.
Naveen’s shuffling at the beginning made me cringe …so bendy

Did anyone else cringe the way he shuffled those cards?
To each their own I get my games to play and I don't need them to last forever cause I am definetly not going to 😀
This is definitely a hard pass for me... Libertalia is a favourite of mine and I love the drab look and pirate theme. Thanks anyway for the video.
No worries, thanks for checking it out though!
You love the…. Drab look? I think if you love it, there’s probably a better word to use than drab, which is inherently a negative word.
This art is meh to blah at best.
Another snoozefest from Stonemaier.
This New version is horrible ! Why they put animals ??! Why all thèse flashy colors ??!! My god !
It's not horrible it's just not for you. Keep your drab colours and white men!!!
