The reason for being able to reset every digit in ODO is if you want to transfer ODO from another unit. If you had a speedo on your bike and you bought the Meilan, you could transfer your mileage and have your accumulated total show on the new unit.
Bro literally this is a life saver. I ride a boosted board around town, and I cant ever tell how fast I'm going without checking my phone which is super dangerous on a busy road. I could just velcro this to a watch strap and check my speed and range as I'm going along, too good!
Thank you, just picked one up. The setting/changing of the odometer is if you were switching from another device and wanted to keep track of totals miles.
would this work for a car? my dashboard is out of commission so i want to see what i can do for the time being. speedometer apps on my phone burn into the screen after a while
What’s up bro, sorry I hate when people call me bro. Anyway, I subscribed to you because you ramble a little but stay on point and have very usefully advise. Thanks cousin, hate that saying too lol. Have a great one! In less then 1 day I’ve ordered things you have suggested in a few videos, thanks again!
oh wow.. i just saw this.. haha.. yeah i definitely ramble a bit. i dont script anything, i just talk. i try to be as real as possible. I'm not a huge youtuber with sponsors and stuff, im just a normal dude who brings things to the community i think are of value. i think scripting is too much like being a sellout.. things should be more organic than that.
good to know. it must not be all of them though becuse i tested mine in a car for speed and distance accuracy and it was perfect. Then had it on my electric scooter as my main speedometer for months and it was perfect according to ride tracking apps like "Relive"
The odometer is the amount of total miles you have rode for. Since this product is designed for bikes it will have features for bikes. We don't use the ODO for our RC cars. I mean, you could. If you wanted to see the total amount of miles you have drove your car for you could leave the meter in your car and running every time you use your car. And what you set it on is either nothing or whatever you want. The odometer will calculate the amount of miles traveled but they allow it to be settable in case you are coming from another odometer to this one. Say you have 74,000 mi traveled on another device, you could enter those 74,000 mi into this new device so you can keep total track. Or you could start from zero. So you could literally set it to whatever you want or nothing at all.
ive actually only ever plugged it in to top the battery off.. Ive yet to kill the battery. and ive gone weeks without charging it before. The battery life is extremely good!
So i am thinking of putting one of these in an RC plane that does over 100mph... will this speedo hit those 3 digit numbers? or should i look elsewhere..
I think mine may be defective?? I'm running a typhon 3s with a 26t pinion and only getting a max speed of 15ish mph with the M3 GPS, using my cell phone with a free GPS speedometer app I'm getting 65ish mph. Am I missing something or is my unit defective? Any input would be greatly appreciated! (So I can return if it IS defective)
That definitely does sound defective. If you know for a fact you're more than 15mph and that's what it's saying then I'd say either settings are wrong or it's defective. Did you enter your correct time zone? It needs to know the time zone so I can accurately get the elevation so the satellites can accurately calculate the speed
I completely reset the unit (holding menu on back and top right buttons together) entered the correct timezone (7:40pm currently Eastern -4) clock shows accurate time, took it for a pass and it shows max speed of 20.5mph. Is there a serious lag (A LOT of distance needed for accurate reading) or do you think it really IS defective? How long of a run do you do for your speed runs?
Can you please tell me if a bicycle speedometer will work because I bought one and can not figure it out I don’t know if it will work with a RC car a bicycle speedometer
@@dustinplee5067 yeah that'll definitely work too. I've done that. But I was always super paranoid with it. I have an expensive phone so even a little tip over would cost me a lot more than some scraped plastics.
Personally, i would run this unit along side my phone with google maps open to see if theres a distance. It's pretty hard for gps units to not be accurate though. they get their information from satellites. So the m,ulti billion dollar satellites would have to be wrong for this to be wrong. Unless theres a major major error in its programming. Which is definitely possible. But yeah id confirm with a phone or another unit.
Yes, once it's on and has a good signal (solid light) it automatically is logging info. Until you save it or delete it or start a new save channel. You don't have to start it.
If your RC car Top Speed is expected to be over 100 mph, this will not work for you. Look at the display it has two digits. I own a RLAARLO 917, so this is no good for me, sadly. Top Speeds of the upgraded RLAARLO 787 - 917 is near 190 mph... lol.
Hey joshua. Are you rocco's son?? If so i know your dad and he's super cool and i live in rochester NY as well lol. And i see you know a lot of rc cars which i might need your help as well if possible.
i just noticed this comment, sorry. youtube is terrible about notifying people of new comments. but yeah there's a max speed. thats why its usable as a speed running thing for rc cars.
I used it as a speedometer on my ebike for a few weeks till I sold the bike. It's not the fastest updating thing I've ever seen. It updates once every couple seconds. Made it annoying for speed runs when you had to hold top speed for a few seconds in order to get an accurate reading. They're all like that though. It's a tiny device connecting to satellites in space. It's reasonable for it to take a few seconds imo.
@@jstagzsr yeah not bad for the price, but once every few seconds defintely isnt ideal especially with the more expensive skyrc ones updating 10 times per second. a deal breaker for me I think.
@@meese1k The screen may update the display 10x a second but it still takes a few seconds to send and then receive data from the satellites. Even the skyrc one. That's why you have to hold ur top speed for a while to register. I have no doubt skyrc is faster but you can only get so fast on these tiny units. The fact they're even capable of connecting to satellites at all with almost no antenna is amazing in itself. I love technology.
However you want. Under the body, on the wing, under the wing, on the shock towers, on the hood, there's no wrong way to attach it. Wherever it fits on your car. Just make sure it's secure. Use thick zip ties or duct tape, or 3d print something.

Directly compared to a Cateye these under read distance and have a tendency to overread speed! Not sure which is more accurate.

I'm not sure tbh. It does have 3 digits. I'm not sure if it stops at 99.9 mph or if it drops the decimal and goes 100mph +
Thankyou, this is a very useful video.
