This is one of the pieces of dsp lore that always makes my brain collapse into a mix of anger, laughter and confusion. Why he trades-in games without the boxes at the store? It's such a douchy fking move. And then there is the absolute humiliating move of throwing the empty boxes at his fans (and complaining about the shipping.)
It's like giving 40 cents to charity and bragging about it.
I'm trying to figure out how someone not claiming their prize for a giveaway would get you so upset that you start being toxic to them? Maybe they decided they didn't want the game? Maybe they got busy? Maybe, God forbid, something happened to them and they were in an accident? Why would you get mad over that at all? It's such a stoopid thing to get mad over, instead of just "Sorry, dood, you missed the claim window, I'm going to redraw and give it to somebody else." and moving on? Good lord Phil is such a toxic POS.
Man he bought so much crap over the years instead of saving/investing. He could've easily been a millionaire but he squandered every single dollar.

So I just won an empty collector's edition box for a game that's several years old? Hype!! I wonder if anybody kept that garbage and if it has any intrinsic value as a part of DSP history. After all, ALT is a Phil Burnell internet slueth/historian.
So “hardcore gaming season” is something entirely made up by dave? Every time he said that I wanted to gouge my eyes out.

Good lord, he really thought people would try to fraudulently get extra raffle tickets in his raffle for an empty game case. The delusions started a lot earlier than I thought.

Why does he sway like he's on the open ocean every time he's standing up?
Watching Phil's recent retcon of this ever happening and then this, you can really see how he loves to twist things so they're technically true but also not really once you look into them.
He now claims that "hundreds, even thousands" of people were entering these giveaways and that it was on very high demand. However, he doesn't mention the games he was giving or how many re-rolls he had to do because people just didn't care enough to claim them, and this is before TIHYDP I believe, so he can't blame trolls or even back then he had enough trolls to win all of his giveaways, vastly outnumbering actual fans. Also, his idea of "thousands" entering apparently doesn't consider that many were probably on all giveaways, meaning it was the same hundreds, but as we know, Phil thinks that if he does 10 giveaways and there's 200 people on each and in the end there's 2000 posts, then that means "thousands of people" were participating, same way he believes he has different audiences depending on different games, even though the usual number is around 200-300 on streams and ahn-demand videos
The funniest part of the 2012 giveaways is that he even says they're not good or that he didn't like them, and this is when he was making good money, often bragging about how a video of a +80 part playthrough made him hundreds of dollars, so him not even using the ad revenue of a couple of videos to get 10 copies of a game like Dark Souls tells you a lot of how little he was giving back in comparison to how much he was making.
The amount of shit he had in his condo, was foreshadowing Styrofoam mountain
I can't state enough how much of a braindead consumer you need to be to continue buying special/'collector' editions of games WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY trading in the game disks. He really thought the gravy train was going to continue on forever back then.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but gotta give him credit when it's deserved: Phil looked the best he's ever looked in that 1st vid from 9/12.
Him having to re give away those games slightly reminds me of how today’s problem. He doesn’t have enough viewers to accept “claim” 500 gifted memberships. Meerkat was right, oic didn’t set up the bots to accept them

Honestly you just want to find a style of playing that is fun for you... I never found one, but I can see the potential it had. It is a Long game so I agree there.
