Day 10 | 100 miles! | Appalachian Trail 2024

- On day 10, I hiked 12.3 miles from Carter Gap Shelter to Rock Gap. From there, I got picked up by the Macon Country Shuttle and was dropped off at The Grove Hostel.

I read a book about someone who came from Spain to hike the AT, and he always talked about "los cantos de los pájaros" (the songs of the birds -- the book is written in Spanish). He just loved the birdsong! Congratulations on 100 miles! Wow, great views! That was some fierce wind!
Love your smile and joyous countenance. It makes me happy. Thanks for taking us along for your journey of a lifetime. When you get to the Smokies, try to do the towers on both ends of the park, Shuckstack in the South and Cammerer in the North. You won’t regret it.

Very proud of your first 100 miles, you did great. How are the new shoes working out for you? I love the shuttle services I used them in Front Royal Virginia when I hiked the Shenandoah National Park. Love the smile on your face, keep up the good work and thanks for bringing us along.

I highly recommend climbing every firetower, especially in the Smokies. Shuckstack after Fontana has one of the most amazing views of the Smokies to the north and a good chunk of the AT you already hiked to the south. It’s not as rickety as it seems. One tip just keep looking up as you climb and coming down its less scary if you walk down backwards. Mount Cammerer near the end of the Smokies is .6 off trail but again totally worth it. It’s completely made out of stone, totally unique and also has spectacular views.

I no u are overloaded with things to do, but the Merlin bird app identifies birds by sound! So great for when you are traveling.

I almost died on that climb up Albert. I lost balance and The weight of my pack had me falling backwards. My buddy grabbed me thankfully! The climb was well worth it!
I got my trail name climbing that mountain. Bug. I was huffing and puffing so much swallowed a bug. ugh best wishes bug

I do sometimes have trouble hearing you over the wind noise. Please consider using a small microphone, or wired earbuds that have one built in. This would improve your audio quality.
Pretty ballin you are carrying your go pro while climbing those stairs. Also was the bus driver a convict? His shirt was stripped a local jail guy.
Absolutely amazing. Hi Moole visit k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place. Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower

I’ve been stretching my ankles and calves a lot since that is where I have been having some pain. I also stretch my shoulders throughout the day when I take my pack off.

The east coast is so beautiful! I love how the mountains seem to go on forever.
