Nice review, different than the other aviation vloggers. And nice to refer to the stopover possibility. They should promote it in a boutique style : posh day time use of hotelroom, ( guided) city tour, fine dining, specific shopping , whatever. Xiamen Airlines does this quite succesfully . So they make a positive of a long transit
Hi. Thankyou for showing this. Im on the exact BC flight from Bali to Manila then back to Syd in January. However, I broke my flight up by almost 2 weeks to spend time in Phil. Your insight into these 2 flights, it has me so excited.
I was able to sample their A321neo last year, it's a much better cabin than an old A321ceo model with IFE and a sophisticated business class seat. I thought they would be doing this in the Ber months which is a seasonal period in the country but I guess that was a crew familiarisation thing and the ceo cabin is how they're going to serve regional SEA now. Not bad for 4h flying but it does make their product look bad for one region.
Great report, love your dry sense of humour! I married a Filipino, and my husband's family like sweet food, not so much for me. We've flown PAL to Manila in business class, I would rate them higher than QF!. Did you experience the traffic in Manila? Looking forward to the Sydney trip report! Keep up the great work.
Ah yes, I forgot to mention the traffic, it was practically impossible to get anywhere at 5pm. I ended up walking 4ks back to my hotel because I couldn't get a grab or a taxi.
Funny as review. Love a flight reviewer with dry Aussie sense of humor. PAL seems decent, especially for the price. Manila is definitely a shit airport though - makes CDG/LHR/FRA look good.
Hey mate - great video! I have a 15 hour layover in MNL later next month during a JFK-SYD flight on PAL. Did you have to pick up your bags in MNL and take them with you, or did they stay in transit? Thinking of also leaving the airport and having a look around.
Another great video - PAL is a bit underrated. Mate of mine scored Melbourne to Narita return for $670 recently which is excellent value. I think her layover at the notorious Manila Aquino is 16 hrs lol

In terms of the lateness, we have a saying about Philippine Airlines - PAL - Philippines always Late!!! LOL But if you get over that, they are a great airline to use, and the service is amazing.

I didn't have any checked bags! I don't think you have to take them, you'd definitely want to double check this though! It's well worth the trip out.
If you need a better service than PR on the DPS-SYD market then go SQ or CX. The latter has the same fleet as PR with better products.

It's not cheap when you have to put up with delays, poor quality food and service. Lost of time adds up to the ticket prices tremendously.
