Thank you for this lesson, Paul. I'm about a 15 handicap, and I have struggled with a hook for YEARS and never heard that simple explanation you gave for the "duck-hook" player. I went to the range and practiced your "think turn, not shift" and hit about 15 beauties in a row! Excited to go play 18 in a few days. Thanks again.
Very good. Super simple to fix but when someone doesn't know what to do they are literally just trying to hold off and manipulate the face (which will never work). Just keep this in mind for the future and you will be playing great in no time.
Started golfing in 2018 and struggled with a giant slice for 2 years. I took about a year and a half - 2 years off when covid happened and played a lot of VR golf on my oculus. Came back this year and was magically hitting a draw! Now several months later im fighting a nasty hook with my long irons and woods. Havent even touched my driver... golf is hard
It's hard when you don't know how to fix it. I teach my students to fix it on their own. If you are hooking it without trying to hook it your grip is too strong. Make it more neutral: ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html Watch you ball. If you are pull hooking it then switch to firing your body. If you body starts first you will hit it either dead straight or with a slight draw. This is 5 mins to fix.
@@paulwilsongolf This describes exactly what has happened to me. I only play irons because I enjoy doing this, and am pretty acurrate at it, but recently my straight shots have started to pull left, adding a few shots to my average. I intend to practice with your tips starting tomorrow.
Easy to fix. Just follow the tip. Pull is you hitting with your arms which leans you left as you come down. Lean left = swing left. Need to lean right by firing the lower body. Glad you found this one and fixed it. Try to remember it for the future. As soon as you see one go left do practice swings at knee high feeling the legs and hips then apply this feel to you shot.
Thank you! As a better player I have done a few of these changes. You’ve added the fine detail and have built confidence in what I’m doing. Mui Bueno Gracias
this dude just called me a better then average player, I'll take it! It's definitely my grip, it's too strong and sometimes I throw my hands too soon to try and get extra club head speed. This helped me understand the nuance. Makes sense pairing this video with my home simulator data. My swing path is 2.5-4° inside out and my club face is 3-4° closed compared to my path on my bad shots, and almost square to the intended path or in this case his alignment stick. This definitely gives me good places to start.
Well, when probably 80-90% slice and you hook yes you would be better than average for sure. Stop trying to hit it with your hands. You need to fire your lower body harder while keeping the wrists loose for more power. You've got this. You want to hit it super long? Do these 2 drills for 1 month: ruclips.net/video/SfIM2GWj9Cs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/hJeAcEYbvhM/видео.html
Glad you like the tips. Funny how you like my delivery. Others think I am yelling at them, talking down to them, talking to them like a 5 year old. I hear it all. If they don't get that I actually care and want people to improve then they can find someone else. Glad you're with me.
I love the details that describe the results from a faulty grip and/or swing path (yup, mechanical engineer here). My on-course problems are when I begin thinking distance... I begin to slide and tighten up. Too fast and I'm hooking, arms too tight and I'm pushing right. I know this now, and I need to create a list of reminders and tape it to my golf bag (TURN... RELAX... 50%...). You're the best Paul, thank you!
Thanks so much. I just try to say it in a way people get it. Too complicated and you will just be scratching your head and never try it. Yes, trying to get distance is a huge problem. You need to watch this: ruclips.net/video/utFggMFjtng/видео.html Those are the right thoughts but after you watch this tip it will make sense why that will get you hitting it longer in the future. Keep at it. Sounds like you are getting it.
@@paulwilsongolf Just revisiting this because I migrated into a duck-hook player using an overly strong grip. Man, things can get away from you. Glad I had this bookmarked. My contact is crisp, just been sending way too many balls into the woods on the left. Even my punch or long chips were going left. Stay tuned!!
They sure can get away from you. That strong grip may work at first for a bit but at some point you will lose it left. Stick to more neutral and this will never happen. Easy to fix. You've got this. Oh my god. I’ve watched 30 videos on this topic. I’m a 7 handicap who gets too in to out. This is the best, most easy to understand video to help. Really well done. Thank you
Love the content Paul!! I've always had a pull hook as my miss and following this tip, I could feel the difference in my good shots vs my bad pull shots at the range today. I now realize how over the top is created with the upper body hitting the ball vs lower body swinging the club. I've watched your content for a few years now and always end up coming back to your channel when I feel like I've lost my golf swing.
Thank so much. I appreciate it. Yes, you don't want to hit that shot. You need it starting right. This means you need more body to get the tilt. See your shot differently though. You have half right. Everyone dwells on the negative. I like to see the positive. If you are doing have right consistently then get the other half (body). Thanks for coming back. I get this from a lot of people.
I used to use a strong grip and swung with my arms , I hit my driver straight down the middle almost every time on the course and the range almost never would I miss a drive. Recently I developed a hook and the more I tried to fix it the worse it got , you tube videos seemed to make it even worse , I took your video and implemented a weaker grip, stopped hitting with the arms no forward slide , turn with the body all the way. Problem solved no hooks just long straight shots THANK YOU PAUL. What I think is crazy is that I had hit the driver so well for so long doing the opposite ? guess that is just golf
I took time off. But it seems like not hitting with arms is what has been huge, now I'm working on the body swing it takes practice when you have hit thousands of balls the wrong way. Thanks for all your help Paul.
How did I know you did something like taking a break? Seen this a million times. I have helped countless people get it back after taking a break. Here is the problem when you take a break: ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html Stay focused. Reduce the amount of balls you are hitting. The ball is the problem. Hi paul This video came up as I was searching for help on why I was duck hooking a driver a couples times a round. It was very frustrating as it has been costing me to break 80. This vid basically cured issue for me as I now make sure I fire my hips through earlier. Went to the range and hit a few balls. Then played a round and didn’t hook the ball once entire round. This is such an easy fix for me to execute. Thank you for posting
Very good. Not fun when you start duck hooking it. As you see, it's super easy to fix. Try to remember this tip if it ever happens again into the future. Don't get worried. Just think about it and apply the fix. Great job.
Paul, thanks for the great lessons. I'm hitting em better than ever! My prob was mostly sliding/over the top arms leading to slice rather than pull but this lesson helps me understand the swing. Been hitting a nice draw with higher swing speed...and most importantly my arm doesn't hurt anymore! Cheers!
What a great video! Thanks Paul, I think this is going to help big time. 3.06 at minutes you hit the nail on the head about releasing early because I have to have the sensation of holding off the club release, and I still get a draw shape. It's a compensation that isn't ideal because either a snap hook can happen if I don't time it right or a huge block to the right. Then I realized i have 3 knuckles showing so no wonder those hooks you mentioned (90% of the time with my irons) are happening. I get an overdraw as a my miss - it's killed my handicap this year, the amount of greens I've gone for and the ball suddenly goes left just before it's on course to hit a green has been terrifying.
This is so easy to fix. Always start with the grip. Was thinking about it the other day. To draw it you need 1-2 degrees closed to the path so why is everyone trying to get you 45 degrees (shut face) at the top? Just point the lines of your grip at your shoulder not outside the shoulder if you want a slight draw. Anymore and you run the risk of snapping it.
Thinking the Bryds were also golfers? A tune that will help during my walk. For my drives, the left side of the course is hurting my game (which rarely shows up on the range) Turning helps fix so much, thank you for the clarity and the tip Paul!
The pulls are you adding arms in the downswing. On course it shows up because you are trying to give it a little extra. Arms start first and you send it slightly over the top. So swing at no more than 50% with driver for 1 round and see what happens. Also, don't pick distance targets out there. Hit fairways and greens so pick a close target or one way into the distance that you know you cannot hit. Then swing easy.
Finally see a video I have been waiting for!!! Thank you so much for explaining so clearly what had happened to my swing (driver). I am not sure whether I am the 'better player' as you described to have duck hook, yet yes I do have stronger grip, which I need to fix. Can you explain a little more about the 6 degree, or 2 or 4 degrees extra? what degrees are these ? In addition, can the duck hook be fixed by moving the ball position backwards a little? Thank you very much.
Glad you liked it. I have been fixing hookers of the ball in minutes for years. So simple to fix. The degrees are the face being closed more than you normally are at impact. You close the face it will hook. A little you get your draw a lot and you get the big hook. Just follow the tip and literally in a few minutes you will be hitting it great. Just need to know what hook are you hitting. Don't drop the ball back. That's a band aid that will never work. Why not get to the root of the problem and fix it. I just explained how.
Hey Paul, for the life of me I cannot get my wrists to roll over in the full swing but I have had some success by doing a 'body draw' if that makes sense. The right wrist rolls over slightly and the ball flight is fairly straight with sometimes a pull hook. Do you think I should try to roll over my wrists more? I have gone from 200 driver carry to 220 but I feel like I am still leaving distance on the table since I am in my 30s.
You are doing it too late. Roll it from the top. Try to roll it at impact and you will never do it. ruclips.net/video/p4vASmOzkPg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html Get that then add body to straighten it out.
Very helpful…..got a new issue. I try to come from inside and want to attack with AOA up so I think I tilted too much…..so how do I get the upward attack angle and yet not over tilt to right. When I hit up I get so much better distance but now I’m worried about the snaphook.
Just tilt a little bit so that you can see the back of the ball. Eventually, you'll get so good that you don't have to look at it. As long as you fire through and have that tilt without sliding, this will work for you. Practice, practice, practice! I'm right at close to scratch and I have this stupid snap hook from time to time because I'm trying to rip away at it and tilt too much. Don't focus on tilt too much and just swing through. Easier said than done.
@@allanbenoit8305I’m about an 11 trying to be single digit. Have terrible issue issue with driver inconsistency going from a 300 to a 240, makes no sense. I’ve been hitting long straight but straight left. Can you elaborate on on swinging “through”. You mean to swing out towards second base longer?
This is you hitting it with your arms. When you try to hit it leans you left. Lean left you will swing left. That's your pull. Because you are hitting your wrists are tight so you lose power too. So you need to hinge and rehinge back and forth loosening up your wrists: ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html Do that first and loosen your wrists. Once you loosen them up you need to work on direction. This is your body starting first and arms following as you come down. So you need to switch to legs and hips to hit it. You could because the driver is longer and you want to kill it. So you are really pull hooking driver too you just don't see it. So do the neutral grip to reduce the hook spin. Then fire your body first arms follow. Now the irons will be dead straight. Driver quit trying to kill it. Loosen your wrists by doing the roll over drill. Once you can purposely hook it you fire your body. Once you do it's dead straight also. This is literally 10 mins. The problem is you see the pull hook as a bad thing. I see it as half right. Just need the other half. This is all in the Fix Your Own Swing section of The Body Swing. There are 2 drills there that you need to master.

Enjoy and try to apply your key swing thoughts. Any guidance on how close the ball is in your stance. I sense I stand too far from the ball. I haven’t seen a video on this if I recall.
I like the butt of the club to be about 6" from your belot buckle. Driver a little more. So have the toe slightly higher than the heel at set up. This is important because if the toe is too high you will be too far away and not high enough will put you too close. So toe slightly higher. Then measure from the butt of the grip to your belt buckle.
Glad you like the videos. I appreciate it. I am actually off until October. Too hot and I'm too old. Let me know if you can make it out in the fall. Just contact me on my website paulwilsongolf.com Thanks for your interest.
I found on a few other videos the idea that you bring the arms down while you drive with the hips. Don’t LEAD with the hips too much. Bring the arms down at the same time as you drive with the hips, so the arms aren’t coming through really late. It’s that late arrival of the arms that causes the hook, club closed down a lot by the time it reaches the ball. So don’t be all hips and lazy with those arms. Get them both going together!
Why not get the arm unit working then switch to hips instead of trying to time your arms which you will never be able to do. You need to watch this one: ruclips.net/video/bLskGy7rulo/видео.html
Hey Paul great video as always. I had a question. So I been pretty good with my irons lately. Hitting a 6 iron dead straight about 190-200 but when I hit driver it will go straight but I'm only getting maybe 220 carry out of it. Do you have any idea what I'm doing
Are you sure you're not de-lofting your 6 iron. I hit it 180 so you are blowing it by my. That would also mean you would be flying driver 320. So I think you are changing your grip with the hands too far ahead getting you to de-loft the club. So your 6 iron is a 4 iron. Because the grip is too strong you have to tighten the wrists to not hook it off the planet. Tight wrists = slow swing speed. So the driver goes no where and the irons go too long. Fix your grip first: ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html Then do wrist hinge drills to loosen them up: ruclips.net/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/видео.html Once you get that then start switching to body to power the swing. If you don't think you are changing your grip video your swing and you will see that you are switching it to strong just as you take it back. Let me know if I am right.
@@paulwilsongolf honestly no, it's a high lofted shot that lands pretty soft with the 6. Part of me feels like I get too tight when hitting a driver and or I just start swinging with my arms. I feel very loose from 5-wedges, even hybrid is nice and fluid but when I get driver in my hand I tend to tense up
So go out and hit a bucket super loose. I can only keep telling you to do this. It is up to you to do it. Super loose. Out of control loose. Do swing up in the air at knee high. Let the tension completely go. Then within 5 seconds step up and apply this same feeling. It should feel out of control. Keep doing it for one bucket. If so you will see amazing shots which will tell you to keep doing it.
Snap hooks are my big miss with driver. I tend to hit it straight or slight draw. I have a neutral grip but will sometimes get 1-2 hooks in a round. They usually happen after I’ve just pushed one out to the right so I overcompensate and close face too much next time I hit driver.
That could happen. The problem is you are trying to fix a direction problem with your wrist hinge. When you push one all you need to do is think about turning. So you see a push. The next swing you hit the top and think TURN. This will stop you tilting too much and you will hit it dead straight. Also could be pushing it cause you are swinging a little too hard and coming out of it. So slow down then you won't come out of it. Done.
@@paulwilsongolf that’s 100% accurate. My pushed drives are almost always on par 5’s where I’m really trying to send ball out there instead of just going with my normal swing. Very mental. Thank you!
Finally someone explaining a bit what a duck hook is. Sounds more like me at hcp17, is it the same thing as 'overdrawing' the ball? Or does it also hit high on the face for some topspin? (hence the ducking?).
Well, at a 17hdcp you would be pull hooking it. To hit a duck hook you would need an inside out path. If you started golf as an adult you would be swinging over the top. Better player swing from the inside and release it early thus the duck hook. This could be in the center of the face or towards the toe. The pull hook is different. Swinging over the top and closing the face. Again, could be center of the face or anywhere really. If you actually do have a duck hook it's simple to fix. Put down an alignment stick. More neutral grip. Turn more cause you are sliding. Done. This is all of 5 mins to hitting it perfectly.
Thanks for the explanation. So topspin has no part in in. (As a non-native speaker I still wonder where the 'duck' in duck hook comes from, not from the bird surely?) I do have a in-to-out path by the way, even though I started golf at 29. Always had. I think I have to thank my field hockey past for that.
Not sure why they call it a duck hook. Maybe because it's low left. Ducking left meaning low. It's also called a snap hook. I guess we could look it up. That's great you have an inside out path. Need be sure to check your grip so it's not too strong. This is what gives you too much hook. Then you need to reduce any sliding laterally so it's not too much. The more you slide the more you tilt which creates the path from the inside. @@paulwilsongolf Great! I have a grip that is on the weak side of neutral. What does seem to help if I steepen my backswing, because I tend to take my club away to the inside a bit too much sometimes: My R10 launch monitor is pretty good at showing me that the more my path goes in to out, the more I close my clubface relative to the path. Funny how the body instinctively reacts to path mistakes. Isn't that a perfect hook recipe? I will check on the slide option too, thanks for the links!

I’m someone who swings inside to out, not majorly, but my club face is consistently closed. I do play with a draw but at times it becomes that duck hook. Should I look at more turn through the body as the weaker grip is inconsistent for me
Yes, you need to hit the top and really fire so the hips lead the downswing. Just watch your ball. If you blow it right that's too much. Keep watching until you get just a slight draw. Can't let up on this though. As you see, it turns into a snap.

To get it you need to see the grip not as the grip. This is part of a hinge. You know the flap with the screws screwed onto your door? You put the grip on then work on hinging the wrists so they loosen up. Problem has been that you are trying to do the grip and you hit a few bad ones so you quit. You need to put it on as I suggest and keep it on for about 20-30 balls in a row. Tee it up. Hit 7 iron. After that many balls your wrists will loosen and you will hit it straight with the new grip. Here is the grip: ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html Then do this: ruclips.net/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Z8K3Gctkz7A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/6ZeTqcz2pmE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/видео.html Get to work.
Ive had good success with your body swing and shutting the arms off for distance. On occasion I fire my body first but get some dead straight long left drives as a righty, no hook, just straight left. I know some how the clubface is square to the path but not sure why if im swinging with the bodies in so straight left.
You are tilting left in the downswing. Tilt left = swing left. You need to tilt right. Watch the tips I sent in my other reply. You can literally fix this in about 2 mins. Then you will be killing it dead straight.
For a better player would coming in too much from the inside also account for a "blocked" shot? To be clear, I mean a shot that is basically straight and goes far but is well right of target? Oddly this is my problem with short irons (7-PW) but not other clubs???
This would depend on the face. If you attacked from the inside but come out of it this would lock your wrists and you would blow it right. Those are more scoring clubs because you think you are going to hit a shot close to the pin so you are looking (coming out of it) to see if you did it. Work on this: ruclips.net/video/X_pF7x-OCXU/видео.html And watch the impact area until after you have hit it.
That would be called a slice. Follow below: Wrists = Spin (Step 1) ruclips.net/video/p4vASmOzkPg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yHEv7G9Z5-0/видео.html Body = Direction (Step 2) ruclips.net/video/FV8uSZ16Bys/видео.html ruclips.net/video/RdphthCQ9VM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/видео.html (secret tip)
Hey dude... I have followed you for years and pretty much use your relaxed, easy swing... I have worked my hc down considerably, however, I have developed a substantial, basically what i call an overdraw... I basically control it somewhat by aiming down the right of my target line... of course this is ok, but when I need a straight or a fade, it doesn't work.... so my question is this.... can I basically change my grip to what shot shape I need for that hole? Would that be an easy fix If my swing path is frome the inside.. just change my grip based upon what shot shape I need?? Or should I just adjust my club face at address and swing the same?? Maybe I need to come out for a visit!!!
This is a problem for sure. If you want to hit a draw it is a falling to the left say 5 yards with irons and 10-15 with driver. If you are really hooking it then you need to neutralize your grip. Now you will be within range to hit other shots. Too much hook and you see you cannot play the other shots. Follow my neutral grip tip here: ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html As you learn a more neutral grip and want to draw it make sure the lines I talk about go to your shoulder which is little stronger. Don't get crazy strong. Then watch this: ruclips.net/video/GERdoCcL5rE/видео.html I am the face where I want the ball to land. I aim my body left. I swing left. Because the face is set open it fades back. You can also aim left and open the face. Up to you. You are not changing your swing. You are changing your set up.
@@paulwilsongolf Another thought... I bet you I am setting up right... I played in a 3-man about a month ago and my playing partner said I was aimed well right of the target.... time i worked on my alignment apparently!!
Are you a total beginner? For a right hander: Pull - Straight Left Pull Hook - Left with hook spin left Duck Hook - at or right of target hooking left possible left left if the face is severely closed.
Thank you for mentioning the lefty aspect of it... The anti lefty prejudice with youtube videos is astonishing...lefties have feelings too! STOP LEFTYISM WHOS WITH ME? :)
Yes, I try to keep my terms generic. When I do lefties have the best of both worlds. They get me saying it plus they get the exact mirror image of what to do. I have taught so many lefties I speak left handed when a student comes for lessons. So I am with you.
Hi Paul, I already have a neutral grip and hit my irons well. When I hit fairway woods or the driver it turns to a pull or snap hook. Should I try a weaker grip? Thanks in advance! ⛳🏌️
You might think your grip is neutral but if you are hooking it without trying to hook it you have a grip problem. A lot of people start neutral then either have their hands too forward, press forward too much or actually change their hands to strong just as they start back. I used to do this. Could have sworn my grip was neutral yet it wasn't. Place your grip on. Hands fairly even with the ball and hit some shots. If so, there is no way you would snap it unless you severely rolled it over.
Make it more neutral:
ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html
Watch you ball.
Watch these too:

Thank you! As a better player I have done a few of these changes.
You’ve added the fine detail and have built confidence in what I’m doing.
Mui Bueno Gracias
Excellent. Glad to help.
this dude just called me a better then average player, I'll take it!
Do these 2 drills for 1 month:

I'm impressed. I appreciate how you speak to your audience. Thanks Paul! You summed up my issues, rude awkening...🙂
You need to watch this:

Those are the right thoughts but after you watch this tip it will make sense why that will get you hitting it longer in the future.
Thanks so much. Easy to fix the hooks. Start with the grip first though to reduce the spin. You've got this.
Very good. Glad you found me and fixed it. Not sure why you lost it. Was there an injury or did you take time off?
I took time off. But it seems like not hitting with arms is what has been huge, now I'm working on the body swing it takes practice when you have hit thousands of balls the wrong way. Thanks for all your help Paul.
How did I know you did something like taking a break? Seen this a million times. I have helped countless people get it back after taking a break. Here is the problem when you take a break:
ruclips.net/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/видео.html
Stay focused. Reduce the amount of balls you are hitting. The ball is the problem. Do daily practice swings at home. If you do practice do 2-3 practice swings per ball. It's all about the movement.
Great video

Hi paul
This video came up as I was searching for help on why I was duck hooking a driver a couples times a round.
Great job.
turn instead of shift, those are the exact words I needed to hear! thank you!
Exactly. Glad you see it. You will be hitting it straight in minutes.
Cheers!

You are a great coach. Grip is the first thing to check!
Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. Yes, grip is vital. That alone will reduce the hook spin.
Sometimes I feel like you’re basing your lessons off of my game. Thanks, as always, Paul!
Funny how that happens sometimes. All about timing.
Thank you. I was way too strong on the grip. Now I’m hitting it straighter again 🎉
Very good.
Great video, my duck hook has gone already just watching 😃

Holy smokes! It’s like you were spying on me! This instruction helped me tremendously. Thank you!👊🏽
Glad it helped! Not fun when you are hooking it too much. Stay focused.
Club Attacks From The Inside 💪
Thanks 👍
It's working great 👍
Glad you are doing well.

So you need to hinge and rehinge back and forth loosening up your wrists:
ruclips.net/video/M868QsTlGt4/видео.html
Do that first and loosen your wrists. Once you loosen them up you need to work on direction. This is your body starting first and arms following as you come down. So you need to switch to legs and hips to hit it. Do this drill off the ground for a few swings. Get feeling your legs and hips:

Amazing video! Thank u!
Glad you liked it! Thanks.
I am a new devotee to your body swing technique. I hit my driver well but pull hook my irons. Have you seen this before?
Very helpful!!
Glad you think so! This should get you back on track in a few mins.

Good evening sir. Great videos. Do you have a summer golf camp? I would pay for personal instructions from you. Please let me know.
Glad you like the videos. I appreciate it. I am actually off until October. Too hot and I'm too old. Let me know if you can make it out in the fall. Just contact me on my website paulwilsongolf.com Thanks for your interest.
My duck hook came from my lower body. I was keeping my back leg stuck and not getting my knees close on follow through keeping my left arm bent!
This was probably a pull hook not a duck hook. Regardless you check your grip and fire the lower body to hit it.
You need to watch this one:
ruclips.net/video/bLskGy7rulo/видео.html
Fix your grip first:
ruclips.net/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/видео.html
Then do wrist hinge drills to loosen them up:
ruclips.net/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/видео.html
Once you get that then start switching to body to power the swing.
@@paulwilsongolf thanks buddy I will try it.
Watch:

@@paulwilsongolf Great! I have a grip that is on the weak side of neutral. What does seem to help if I steepen my backswing, because I tend to take my club away to the inside a bit too much sometimes: My R10 launch monitor is pretty good at showing me that the more my path goes in to out, the more I close my clubface relative to the path. Funny how the body instinctively reacts to path mistakes. Isn't that a perfect hook recipe? I will check on the slide option too, thanks for the links!

So easy to fix. This is under 5 mins. Just follow the tip and you will be back hitting it great.
Do this on the course for a while before each shot. Get the feeling then quickly apply it to your shot.

Paul I can’t fix my grip it feels so foreign my body won’t let it happen.. what do I do?
To get it you need to see the grip not as the grip. This is part of a hinge. You know the flap with the screws screwed onto your door? You put the grip on then work on hinging the wrists so they loosen up. Problem has been that you are trying to do the grip and you hit a few bad ones so you quit. You need to put it on as I suggest and keep it on for about 20-30 balls in a row. Tee it up. Hit 7 iron. After that many balls your wrists will loosen and you will hit it straight with the new grip. Here is the grip:

6:05 I just had a lesson last week that fixed this.
Very good. Definitely don't want to be over hooking it that's for sure. Keep at it.
What if I’m right handed and I hook right?
That would be called a slice. Follow below:

Okay my grip is definitely too strong but when i grip it with the club face open it feels so weird
And when i come over the top i pull it extremely hard left. When i hit the ball from underneath it starts right and hooks 700 miles
So yes, just follow this tip. Have you hitting it straight in minutes.
Follow my neutral grip tip here:

As you learn a more neutral grip and want to draw it make sure the lines I talk about go to your shoulder which is little stronger. Don't get crazy strong.
Then watch this:

I am the face where I want the ball to land. I aim my body left. I swing left. Because the face is set open it fades back. You can also aim left and open the face. Up to you. You are not changing your swing. You are changing your set up.
@@paulwilsongolf Thank you sir!!! I'll get to work!!
@@paulwilsongolf Another thought... I bet you I am setting up right... I played in a 3-man about a month ago and my playing partner said I was aimed well right of the target.... time i worked on my alignment apparently!!
Definitely start working on it asap:

"Ok. Average player." (turns volume up)
I keep hoping they are hearing me after all I am handing it to people on silver platter. All they have to do is hear me.
👍👍👍👍
It would’ve been helpful to know what a duck and pull hook looks like.
Are you a total beginner? For a right hander:
Pull - Straight Left
Pull Hook - Left with hook spin left
Duck Hook - at or right of target hooking left possible left left if the face is severely closed.
🤯
Yep, mind blowing.
