I’m 70 y/o and have been fly fishing /tying for 60+ years and just recently had my first experience pike fishing at Crowe Bay on Lak Evans in northern Quebec. Pike on the fly rod is exciting to say the least. I decided to try tying pike flies and discovered Nicklaus’s videos. Fantastic presentation and perfection at work! The only problem is securing all the materials in the USA is somewhat a challenge. Thanks for the education.
I never get tired of Nicklaus Bauers tie tv and fly TV episodes!! :D I'd love this fly to be in my arsenal. Atleast one fly that would get some fish for me! 😂
Niklaus thanks for sharing. It looks so good in the water and is nearly irresistible to pike. I ended up beating the gear guys with it in the same boat. One even ended up rigging one to their gear rod and immediately started catching pike. Its a winner, durable as all heck and easy enough to cast with an 8wt when paired with a weight forward line. Cheers from Canada.
A really nice fly! Just bought my first pike fly kit and i'm going to try it for the very first time in a few days! Thanks Kanal gratis and Niklaus Bauer for inspiring me to try fly fishing! Skitfiske!
You have a great way of showing how to tie a fly. I'll try and make one myself. Probably won't be able to get all the materials you have there but I'll manage with what I can find locally. Why do I need it ? .... well, I just bought my Vision Pike rod (in shipping now) and I need a fly to start learning to use it. Thank you.
Hey Niklaus, i think that this pattern will increase the Chance to catch a pike extremely. Until today i was not much succsessful with my own flies so i hope your pattern can help me out to catch a pike from time to time. Thank you in Advance and tight lines from Hamburg, Germany.
Fantastic pattern I confirm, if you don't want to use a magic head (with are for me a little to expensive to do only a system to have more volume) switch to the body tubing from blane chockletts as you use for the legendary T bone.
Hi Niklaus first of all your costing me a lot of money copying your flys which are fantastic please can you tell me where you got you flash stands from please. Tight lines and thanks for the videos Darren
Hi thanks for the great vid.. I've been trying to get hold of the dragon tails but not having much do you or anyone have a link for purchase many thanks
Look into Tight Lines UV. Predatory fish can actually see some UV light. UV light penetrates down deeper and even murky water it passes through. Its got fish can eat in muddy water. (Not the only reason, a contributing factor.) Anyway, the owner did his thesis work on how fish see and application. Very scientific stuff.
Hi Niklaus, my english is not good, but I understand every Point an the way you work. I like your art and your style, and by the way, verry sympatic. Thank you for showing and your typs. by, ...
Hey I would like to have one of your Flys I would definitely use that bad boy for smallmouth bass and largemouth as well did u have a hard time on tying dear hair I'm just going to start trying it
Hey Nik! I just discovered your videos. As a kid, my dad would take me out fishing. He would go for walleye, and I only had luck hitting northerns on leeches. I think I have caught all of one on artificial bait-- but, I love the action of your flies! I stumbled onto your videos from a video titled "5 pike lures you need" and the Dobb Daddy got me looking into Flies. I'm an amateur and often fish with slow trollers and want to do some casting with what you're working with. Would you mind speaking to the construction of your "weedless pike fly with a dragon tail" on a tube system, so that I can use with a dobb daddy style rigging. (I actually am using a large popper cone turned backwards over an egg sinker. It floats when dry, and sinks nice and slowly when wet) It looks atrocious lol, mostly like a bunch of weeds. But I'm learning 😅
Hello and great video thanks to your editing videos I started editing pike flies. I have a small technical question to throw these big flies needs a silk of #9 or less and then behind the silk you put what as bottom line length and diameter thank you
Shit an awesome fly! I'm just in the beginning of fly fishing, actually my first rod soon arrives! Big thanks to Niklaus for teaching so interesting and in an easy way to understand! Love from the Danish/German border ❤🎣
Great looking color, those eyes are sick. I’m curious how do the quick clips shown in the underwater footage work for you? Are they better then a stay loc snap? I’ve used smaller ones on ice spoons but lost a few spoons that just flopped right off the quick clip. I use them for dragon tails too and never lost a tail.
I’m intrigued by these, but have real reservations about casting them, looks like way too much to be aerodynamic or easy to cast. Must take a beast of a rod.
I would appreciate if i Got my hands on a fly this well designed, and all beginers should have this kind of fly in their fly box. 🤘🎣😁 Have a good fishing!!!
Maybe you should have a competition for each Fly TV episode where you can win 2-3 flies of the fly in the video to fish for more Subscribers. Pun intended.
If it were to reside in my box I would pound every weed edge within 100 miles to see if our pike are as hungry as yours. Then I’d tie one myself and reciprocate it back your way
An excellent vid., but absolutely STUFFED with an unacceptable number of ads. That's greed. I didn't down tick, but couldn't bring myself to uptick. Unsubscribed, too. Pity.

Hey I would like to have one of your Flys I would definitely use that bad boy for smallmouth bass and largemouth as well did u have a hard time on tying dear hair I'm just going to start trying it
Question. Why isnt this tied like a tube fly. Now i always see a hook.

Great video! I’d love one of those
