This dude truly makes me want to be better - I have ZERO complaints.
Maybe already mentioned, but there was a WW2 fighter Pilot that had no legs, and was renowned for what he could do. - Douglas Bader. He could pull G's no-one else could (because ... limited pooling), *but* It even saved his life one time (bailing out of a flaming plane - unstrap legs, exit plane!). And ... the opposition under-estimated him too because of it. Adapt, work and build upon the positives. Both have this quality; and both had support from the commanders (or maybe the commanders didn't have a choice - kinda "who dares, win" thing).
You know, I've struggled with regretting my decision to not go to the military several times in my life, but ultimately, for me... I'm just so exceedingly thankful for the men and women who protect our nation so that I can have the privilege to raise my family here at home. Thank you service members for your sacrifices. Never forget.
Good Mothers and Fathers are in short supply right now... and if everyone ran off and enlisted there'd be no one left to raise families! Be good to your family, be a role model, and you'll have done more than just earned the 'privilege'.

@@alphazuluz Yeah that's fair, and I'd totally expect the military to get him into a non-combat role, like training or whatever, but I just can't wrap my head around the fact this man's still deploying in an active role. I remember my dad telling me he got out of the army in 97 and sept 13 2001 he had a recruiter at the house going through his paper work and went back in for 8 more years
so funny thing. I was a cook stationed at ft campbell. When I deployed I got situated at a COP TR, which was a transit site and rally point for SF teams. There I learned that, surprising, many SF operatives are from large towns or cities. I only ever met 2 guys from the the south, 1 from Texas, and 1 from Alabama. The texan didn't have an accent either, the Alabama guy did. Every single other one, was either from a coastal area, in the west or east, or from a major city/region in land. There was even a team of guys called the city boys, and yes they called each other by their city origin instead of names.
Incredible. As medicine, technology and prosthetics advance these soldiers that get hurt and want to keep going will have that option more and more often with better results as the years go by. We will have cyborgs with an heart of gold and the wisdom for war of a 100 men.
Unfortunately, as an amputee myself, I have to tell you that this is propagandistic Nonsense. Especially an above knee amputee does not have the endurance to fight on a frontline. You do have a certain threshold of miles you can walk per day and with more than that, your stump will be rubbed open. Also he can not run with an above knee amputation. Even below knee ones make you too slow in changing directions and Sprints for a war. Its really quite ignorant of reality.

I have to admit I always assumed the army just forced injured soldiers into retirement.
They tried
I think they normally do. I think this is new. Also, it was likely a special case. This guy is CLEARLY an ultimate badass and the army has already sunk millions into his training. I doubt a regular infantryman would get this treatment. But this guy is the Tom Brady of war, so one leg or two, he’s gonna fuck shit up.

so funny thing.
