I have a Al Comp with a Bucklos fork and my Marin Hawk Hill has the Recon Silver. I always wondered what materials they were made out of considering my Recon feels twice as strong.
I did, I used a Koozer 100mm non boost hub (costs around $35) and built my own wheels. Unfortunately I could not find a 36 hole version of the hub so could not use the stock rims either.
Hi Tony, when u went from 100mm travel to 130mm travel, does it not change the axle to crown and hence geometry? I am thinking of upgrading my 100mm coil fork with air fork and the fork manufacturers are suggesting to stay with 100mm because the fork height increases for 120mm. What was your experience? Thanks
Depends on your bike’s head tube angle. Most bikes, including mine, will be fine with the 30mm difference. I wouldn’t go any bigger though. You should be fine going from 100 to 120mm unless your bike has a really steep head angle (usually seen on older bikes)
I am using a cheap chinese below 100usd air fork that is called Nanlio air fork on my mtb. I have a confusion, whats the difference in terms of ride comfort in between these super cheap forks vs rockshox entry level air forks ?
Manitou Markhor is another fork that should be considered. It ships with 100mm travel but can be converted to 120mm by removing the internal spacer. Light weight with 30mm stanchions.
I think I bent my Bucklos steertube or crown. I cased a double in mammoth, when I got home I noticed my headset got tight when you turn the bars around. Kinda sucks but they are still working but im not hitting anymore medium jumos with them.
I have a Diamondback Release 4c. I just sold my Venzo. I also have a 27.5 DB hook (with an XCR air on it). The XCR air feels a little smoother than the Bucklos. The XCR is also heavier but really solid. I would take the XCR over the Bucklos for durability
*axle on the RockShox is 15x100 thru (not 10x100 like I say in the video)
You should put the brake cable behind the fork leg. so it's less exposed.
4.7 puounds for Recon without axle? I got a 27.5" 120mm with 15*110 axle weight 5.1 pounds. Got a new one at 40% discount.
Nice I have a Manitou Machete 140mm on my Axum DP and it is so good
The Manitou is great fork!
Lowers are SR Suntour copy, same with lockout, some have Manitou ABS lookalike switch.
I found recon silver RL (120mm) and Judy silver TK (130mm) for about the same price. Which one would you recommend?
Unless you really need the travel, the Recon is the better fork

Quick question did you upgrade the wheelset to accommodate the thruaxle?
I did, I used a Koozer 100mm non boost hub (costs around $35) and built my own wheels. Unfortunately I could not find a 36 hole version of the hub so could not use the stock rims either.

I can definitely feel the difference between my Bucklos and the Rockshox. The Rockshox feels more solid and is smoother

The Manitou is a great option 👍
Did you have to buy new wheels/hubs to convert to thru axle?
I did, but the Recon comes in QR too

Time for an upgrade 👍
You have another bikes beside the Axum rigth?? And what you think of the suntour xcrr32 air fork better than bucklos

Sure ???

@@TonyHob haha asking everybody if I should keep my Axum or vitus!!! Still debating.
Thanks you don’t have video of the diamond back ? Correct
This was a few weeks ago on the DB ruclips.net/video/2E0smkDUudg/видео.html
@@TonyHob Mann almost
5000 what you do lol!! I’m debating what to keep between Axum and vitus imagine that diamond bike man is nice.
hey tony can you increase the travel on the bucklos fork?
Not that I am aware off
Yes you can, to 140
Wow you got a great price! I just bought it at Amazon for $379! Hope you got comps?
This one is 15x100 which is a little cheaper than the 15x110. I bought it from Worldwide Cyclery
Should be 15x100 thru axle in the fronts but good choice, I like the Recon much better then the Judy
LOL, you’re right. I’ll fix it in the comments!
You can make Bucklos 140mm
Well THAT sounds dangerous… 😅😂
I just scored a 120 mm Recon Silver RL 15 x 100 mm thru axle fork for like $165 new free shipping. No Shit!!
Where did you buy it?
the correct pronunciation of Magnezium is apparently MagnezUM also, just like alumiNUM lol. Just like Titanum too )))

Next you'll defend sodum and potassum from being called their "real" names, Natr(i)um and Kal(i)um ...
Aluminium not Aluminum. Worldwide the same, Aluminium. Beside that the video is nice
Aluminio where I’m from so no idea what you’re talking about “worldwide” 😂
Any other countries where it’s not “aluminium” OR “aluminum?

That Bucklos isn't very good. The Bucklos Lutu is far better, I've owned both. The Lutu has better build quality and much smoother action.
I'm using the Rockshox Recon on this bike now.
