I have a cool aviation story regarding Amboy. I was in a flight of four UH-60L Blackhawk helicopters out of 3-227AHB 1CAV. A little bit past Blythe, CA on our way to Fort Irwin one of our birds had a chip light for intermediate gearbox. The entire flight did an emergency landing about 3/4 of a mile outside of Amboy onto Route 66. We sat for three hours waiting for the crewchiefs to check out the gearbox and the Commander authorized a one time flight into Barstow Dagget. The pilots went into Amboy to the Gas Station next to Roys to get some water for the passengers and crew. The owner saw all of these soldiers and asked if we broke down, and the pilots pointed at a bunch of Blackhawks on the side of the road. His mouth dropped, it was hilarious. We had a crowd of tourists watch us when we took off and did a complimentary flyby on our way out. Fun times.
I've driven through Amboy in the early 1970's . . . it looks very much the same as it did. I think you guys had allot more fun though. Thanks for sharing.
Get your butts into flight training, I don't want to hear any excuses! Great video, see what you have to look forward to and you won't have to wait for Owen to show up in town!
This is another outstanding video for the books Jeffrey and Christian!!!😁 I love these Bonanza Beechcraft A-36 it's lovely. 😎 I have to say wearing a Cyrus shirt was awesome that takes confidence.👌👏 I am still striving to become a pilot I'm never giving up whatsoever. My goodness that's incredible how you all got to land at route 66. I'd love to do that to be honest. 🤙💯 #Aviation, #Passion for Aviation🛫🛩✈🛬🚁
I knew a guy 30 years ago that liked to fly his A36 Bonanza that way. Yanking and banking, hi-performance take-offs, all of that. Then he flew it into the side of a mountain with his entire family aboard in bad weather. Old pilot or bold pilot. You don't get to be both. N3869A
I dunno how pilots talk that fast and know what they are saying and what they say back..id be "Umm this is umm me..i wanna go west..i think? over to that place...can i?" Great vids..love the flight stuff!! Ohh are you guys gonna go up in the helicopter? Get some footage in that?
At 11:22, I was confused when I was the helicopter so close and at the same altitude. I thought, Is that allowed? At first, I didn't realize you knew each other. Also, when you fly into the Amboy airstrip, is there a certain frequency you have to call into to make sure you're not going to land on top of someone else? I'm no pilot, but I listen to the Air Bands on my ham radio sometimes. I came to this video because I am an avid Route 66 traveler. I would have really enjoyed getting to see a plane land in Amboy while I was there! Thank you for the great video!
Yes, most areas that have random airstrips do have a frequency called a CTAF (Common Traffic Advisory Frequancy) Basically its playing marco polo with other traffic
If the tower controller was "curt" with you, it probably had aomething to do with your high performance departure with a light plane full of passengers.
Can’t do that in a Cirrus, what, why not?. I don’t even like the Cirrus for its reputation in eng failures and nasty habit of dropping out of the sky in the pattern but I don’t see why you couldn’t do the same landing. Anyway when you build a plane with the extra care that’s put into a Bonanza you don’t need a parachute, I hope they keep up this philosophy.
It's hard for the average person to understand the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that go into creating video content for RUclips or any video sharing platform. The Force is strong with both of you. ;o) Keep an eye out for some of my content. I'll be uploading new stuff very soon.

They definitely talk fast, but practice makes perfect. We’re learning as we speak!
This is My favorite video even better than the “I bought a Ferrari when I was 17.”
To conduct a fly-by "ow recon" has saved many pilots from Serious damage to their airplane. Good technique, Great habit
This content makes me laugh augh along with the funny creators.

Hi
Fat fingers...was typing "LOW Recon" (or tried to!)
How is this legal
You guys didn’t really “land” on 66, could you legally not do it?
First
Lol he said full is tank instead of tank is full
Not really route 66. Been repainted for media.
Spoiled rich kids….meh
Don’t think it legal to land on CA road without declaring an emergency.
Click bait. You landed on the dirt strip….not the highway.
Nice!!!
