Kayla: You built your engine "right" because TORQUE is what accelerates the car on the street/road course. Your close to 600/600 wheel which will be wicked fast on the street/ off a corner on track. A strong clutch upgrade will be key to complete your package. These days lots of options to have the clamping force your motor requires AND still be managable "effort" to daily the car when you want to. You got it wired now Kayla👍.
I agree. As someone who loves mustangs I only wish you could build 5.0 coyotes for more torque.
Awesome, I bet it sounds wild in person. can't wait to see your first drive. Hope you filmed it!
I figured you wouldn't pick up much with the intake disconnected, modern intakes are pretty good! plus the couple degrees cooler charge temp helps make up for it. Impressive flow on those heads too!
Great video Kayla, always good to take it in steps as it makes tuning easier. Your car sounds so good. I hope when I eventually change my 1985 C10 which I bought new over to an LS3 sounds half as good as yours did before your build would make me pretty happy. You do a very nice job on the videos as well as the audio which I think speaks of your professionalism in what you do. The only problem I use to run into when building a bike or a car is knowing when to level off and be satisfied for a bit. Have fun with the car and good luck on any future mods Respect the power and "drive on".
Awesome Kayla I'm real happy for you I knew it would hit in the least 600 my 11 Camaro SS hit 502 horsepower on my rebuild nowhere near as high-tech as your build was I really love the 5th gen Camaro she's my baby all right Kayla I can't wait to see the next video stay safe Kayla
Thanks for the info and inspiration. I just bought a c5 Corvette and am interested in doing a power build similar to yours. Every time I see someone else fulfill their dreams, it gets me motivated ya know? Happy for you chica.
Congrats Kayla, absolutely beautiful car!
Great video and awesome build
Congrats KAYLA!
That's quite an amazing torque number! The specific torque (torque/engine displacement) just about beats the C8 Z06 - that's a bit of an achievement for a pushrod engine!
Kayla.....Your BIG grin says it all !! Fantastic job.
...that's just awesome - good for you, girl - loved the series on this build & testing - now go have some fun !...
👍👏She Barks!! "Pretty Mean!! "Love it.
You explain the dyno sheets very well including what you are looking for on the power band when it comes to torque vs horsepower. You car came out great. Love the sound of it. I still remember when you posted the video of your camaro getting hit and had good amount of damage plus you crying. Your car has come a long way. I hope you have lots of fun with it.
I appreciate that so much. Obviously I could sit there for hours describing everything but that's not necessary. Glad it makes sense! Thank you for all the support along the way. That was only one year ago, it's crazy how fast this all happened!
🔥🔥🔥
N/a WOW factor!! I dig it 👌
Just the video i been waiting to see
Woohoo! It's been a long ride for this build- Thanks for staying with it!!
ROWDY for sure. Torque rules. It would be interesting to see full exhaust versus exhaust cutouts. Gonna be a handful getting traction now. Can't wait to see your impressions of first street drive
Looking for clutch, I recommend Monster Clutch 2 disc rated for 700HP. I have it on my 2013 Camaro SS with over 60K miles on it. Easy on the clutch pedal, makes sure you get the remote bleeder with the kit. Mine cam with aluminum flywheel. 💯 my is 416CID has over 30k miles on the motor.
1.4 tq/CID is something of a benchmark for a great engine build. Definitely nothing to sneeze at. I'm guessing the power loss to the wheels, is something closer to 18%. I'm liking this build vs going LS7.. which is what I've been considering for my Ultima GTR. Gives me more to think about!✌
🔥🔥
Sounds insane. Have fun as I know you will by that smile on your face. 👍
As a testament to GPI’s tuning, and the big breathing LS7 heads and intake, this combo made 600 at the tires and 733 on the engine synopsis, with a very conservative 242° intake lobe on the cam. 😮 😳 💪
That’s very mild duration for a big 416 (for the desired torque delivery of a road course build). A lesser build would’ve given up a ton of horsepower on top. This one did not disappoint!
It was also really cool to see how well the top and picked up power with the addition of the E85 and more timing. You can see where the power curve carried strong all the way to 7000.
Big thanks to you and GPI for being so thorough with this build, and for documenting the details for us to observe and learn from. 🍻
Apologies for the typos above. YT is not letting me edit the comment to fix the autocorrect spelling snafus… 🙄 🤦♂
Very kool
That SS is a Beast💯💪🏾
Congratulations
Sounds so healthy and anything around the 600 + is more than enough for You to play with Kayla 👍🌹 Aussie Fan 💪🇦🇺🤘
I agree! I don't need more power than 600 for what I do. Very happy on the outcome... GPI IS THE BEST!!
You know your a car gal when you love the smell of E85, definitely sounding like a monster now lookin forward to the track videos! 👌
I haven't been able to understand it until now. Since I know the smell of my own car so well now I understand how much better E is!
@Kayla Rundle Definitely makes sense when you add a new smell to familiar ones, I'm sure it's gotta smell better then raw 93!
Love the smell running E85!
I don't know what kind of E85 there is where she is or where you are, but the quality VP E85 I use, stinks like dirty socks.
C16 is what smells nice🙂
Kala, your new engine sounds killer.
Thank you!! I love it!
It sound great
I am looking for a build like this What did your build cost and what kind of fuel mileage are you getting on the highway driving it nice?
Kala, you should ditch the E-85 fuel, it has corn alcohol in it. Which will gas wash your rings and cylinders. it's like running your engine low on oil.
I suggest using Shell or Sunoco premium with some Lucas REAL octane booster, it makes 20 gallons of 93 octane into 96 octane. You really don't want ethanol in your fuel. (BAD stuff.)
You can always use more Lucas. Depending on how high you want the octane level. I wish you had started your engine with open headers.👍😁
Nice car with a sweet engine. My poor little 3rd Gen's 305 only makes 170hp. Well, maybe not now, but when it was new anyway.
I want to see this beast. I live less than 10 minutes away from GPI. I have only at 493 wheel on E, but I am on a 6th gen. Hopefully you haven't already left.
Careful of E85 all the time. It does damage to rubber, especially O-rings, and of course E-85 is a magnet to water, so don't leave E in it while the car sits for a while or you can ruin your engine. Surprised that they did 100% E. Normally tuners don't recommend more than 50% because there usually isn't much benefit beyond that(but I think that is most likely because of stock internal builds). My personal tuner in Arkansas recommended about 30% E mix with 93 because I didn't gain anything beyond that but could slowly hurt the engine/fuel system.
Who was your tuner? I’m about 10 minutes from gpi as well. I’ve been debating between gpi and kk performance for my tuning.
Congratulations...You sound like a pro. Have fun ...Be careful
Thank you!!
I’m in the market for a 441 build and I been in contact with GPI about the build, but stock LS3 you made 500 and then dropped a 416 in there with a lot of modifications and you only made 101 extra WHP that’s hard for me to see but still happy you cracked 600
That 500 was not stock. Had a big cam and bolt ons. Just stock displacement
Stock ls3 Camaro is 370 whp. She then gained 130 initially. Now another 100. This is awesome
@@wesleybeeson1818perfectly said. Thank you so much ❤
From a built LS3 to a built 416.. staying NA and gaining 100hp is HUGE!! Message me with any questions, I can try to better explain!
Your car is awesome
Keep in mind, roto-fab is north of you up in Camp Verde!
Other than you liking the smell of E85 over the 91/93, what was the difference between the E85 and 91/93 pulls?
Was the difference worth adding the flex fuel kit to the car?
Not a huge different being NA.. only 10HP but it’s there if I ever add more power in the future!
Hi torque mini starter from gm will work great and very reliable, just put heat blanket on it.
Shes come along way. From loosing a rear wheel to having a 416 lmao!!!
Awesome Job Kayla XD
This means so much! Thank you!!
Welcome to the 600 wheel club lady 😎👍
😘
Dang so close was trying be first comment good video
You so fast!!
You need to "Throw some "Subframe Connectors in🤗
To put it in perspective made 575hp on a totally stock l99 with 10 psi of boost.
Boost is a completely different set up and was not what I needed for my application. Aiming for more Constant Torque over max HP.
@@KaylaRundle right.. my point is.. thats how much power equivalent youre making now. It's a lot
What was the compression ratio?
11.8:1
Sounds pretty healthy now Kay
Thank you!
My guess @ 4:10 is
594 HP.
Edit: One of the few times I'm glad I was wrong! 😁 😎👍
Side note: That blue shirt on you!
❤️❤️❤️
Monster s clutch no doubt
I bet that thing runs like it makes well over 600 to the wheels that’s a lot of power especially naturally aspirated but if you are looking to make more power go with a solid roller cam
Have you seen the cam they used? There's a lot left on the table even if she stays with a hydraulic. She can lift well into the 700's with some of the newer lobes. Lift right now is like .639.
Is your intake manifold ported?
No. Go watch the video where they assemble her engine.
Thats some power for NA
very impressive!
Chevy power 🔥
Do know your cam specs? Obviously custom with the 416 kit
wish i had my NORI tail lights ordered them on 4-27 still don't have them
Reach out to Chris from Nori Lights. He is super helpful and can get them done sooner if need be!
Do you know your final compression ratio?
11.8:1
Oh! Ok ignore my repeat question in the other comments section then. Thanks!
@@wesleybeeson1818 you’re all good!! Just going over late comments lol
What are the cam specs?
238/256 .648"/.639" 113+4
Not sure why you think you need an aftermarket starter, just get a factory one. Start changing unnecessary stuff and you'll have unnecessary problems. I didn't see details on what was happening, but if it was struggling to start while hot you probably just need to add a ground wire.
Agreed. Sounds like heat soak to me. Common issue on the fifth gen. Grounds at engine and at battery.
@@markskala9107 exactly. To me certain things obviously can't be left factory, but whatever can, should stay that way. Manufacturers put in a lot of R&D aimed at reliability, I find it best to leave what can be left factory alone....that's my advice though, everyone must do as they see fit.
@@markskala9107 we added a Ground and grinded down the trunk area for more surface area. It helped but not enough. Battery fully died yesterday and I had to get a new one... could have been that too! I ordered a PowerMaster Starter regardless since my OEM Starter is 9 years old. I am no longer worried about staying OEM, I've basically replaced the entire car at this point lol
@@KaylaRundle Put a 60Ah Antigravity battery in there. It will save you a lot of weight and give you over 1600 CA. Even if you have the best starter out there, it's nothing without power.
Yeah, having the capability to leave the track to go to a parts store to get compatible equipment is great. I try to use acdelco/Delphi whenever I can for electronics.
Now all you need is weight reduction may be some fiberglass doors fiberglass hood fiberglass trunk
I have been working on the eight reduction for a while- aka my Carbon Fiber Roof saved me 20lbs. A trunk is a good idea. I do not think I will change the doors until I have door bars for safety.
When you say “road” does that mean you’re going to race it on road courses or are you referring to something you can drive relatively easy on the street? If you’re going to road race this thing, this channel instantly became more intriguing. Speaking for myself anyways.
I mean road courses specifically like Apex, chuckwalla, Vegas speedway, Spring Mountain, NCM and more. But the car is still streetable so it’s reliable and not over the top!
Clutch. Centerforce clutch. Drive shaft. Chrome moly drive shaft. MUCH strong than carbon fiber and cheaper.
Stronger than carbon? Okay. Tell that to all the 4500-5000 hp pro mod teams out there.
Unless you get some kind of low rent oddball carbon shaft, you can always get a shaft that is stronger than a metal shaft in CF. Why waste power with all that weight when a carbon shaft will work and work a hell of a lot better?
Sounds as mean as a COPO!
For the next vid . Break down the expenses on this build.
Not a bad idea, but all prices are available on GPI's website!
How much they charge you? took me 7k to get 600 whp
There are super easy ways to get 600whp including a $300 Nitrous kit. However that was not my goal for this build. Prices for all the individual parts can be found on GPI's Website. The MAX 2.0 Heads alone are worth more than $7k...
@@KaylaRundle i have heads cams only not nitrous and got the 600 whp
@@KaylaRundle you feel good that what matter.
@@KaylaRundle same here mi goal was reability and everyday car 1 year already 600 whp na and no problem. Congrat f9r yoyr build.
Tilto st 246 Clutch
Get an msd dynaforce starter. You won't be disappointed
I got one now! Thank you!!
Reminds me of a NASCAR kinda
Now run it with open headers😝
hello i thought you put a new clutch in it most people do when rebuilding motor would be easier seeing as the motor out of the car
That was the plan but the part didn't come in time. Put it in a few days after everything was done!
The torque numbers on your engine are supèr high. A ls7 427 ci with heads cam and tune might make 540 to 560rwtq youre making almost 600rwtq. Which ive never seen.
Nice reliable numbers.
Get a carbon fiber driveshaft.
That is the plan!
You only gained that much from a basically stock motor?! My BBC in my jet boat makes 780HP NA. WTF to me that's a waste, but of course no money out of your pocket 🤣
Do you read what you write before you post or…
My goal was not to reach max HP. This is for Road Course & Time Attack applications so the torque curve was much more important with smooth shifts in the higher range to reduce wheel chirp while racing. We all have different reasons for what we do, but this fits me perfectly!
Stock is 370 whp, she was already modded to 500 and new mods to 600 whp. This is outstanding!
If you want to see a man cry, give him PTSD from bubble wrap snaps.
...thickness.
DONT run the carbon fiber drive shaft. They are much weaker and known to buckle and shatter under high torque like what this thing makes. Go one piece aluminum for sure. Almost 2000lb ft of torque rated
Bet you won’t race me though
Let’s go!
Build the trans
I Installed a 900whp Twin disk Clutch. TR6060 is pretty strong for what I have!
Mantic clutch. Do it right, do it once.
My Mantic Twin started slipping less than a year after install by a recommended shop with only ~500rwtq. US sales rep couldn't explain it. I switched to a Monster S Triple and so far the feel and holding power have been great. The extra mass helps on the street but I can feel it's a bit more sluggish in the high RPMs vs the lighter Mantic kit. Compromises *shrug*
@@evcass69
That’s very odd. I have had them hold up for much, much longer in front of way more power. Same for everybody I know who runs them.
There must have been an issue somewhere. Either the install or bedding in. Or simply how it is driven. People often overrev the engine in takeoff as to not stall the engine. This can lead to premature wear, especially if not bedded properly. It needs to be clutched like a light weight race clutch
27 total timing with e no way should be like 36 to 38
36-38?? even best power is made 28-32
LS based engines don't need that much advance. Their head chamber design is so far advanced compared to a SBC they will literally make less power with more advance.
More efficient builds need less timing to make power I'm 21° 91
26° e70
So much determines what timing is needed, but mostly the CR and piston design. They run over 12:1 and a flat top. 36-38? Nope, it's not a BBC with dome pistons.
For me 600hp = loss of license 👮♀️
Hehe just got to be smart with it!
I say 300 whp. 😂
Probably the best guess so far
Gotta get attention some way with a mug like that... lol
Do you think you’re Camaro is faster than @Reckless.Raquel’s Camaro
Yes lol
