For anyone wondering: yes, it can be quite bad to remove skin off a reptile. It’s only bad if the skin isn’t ready yet. You can tell if the skin is ready because it’ll be very loose and there may be pockets of air (like shown in the beginning). The animal should also not flinch or show signs of discomfort of its ready. You can make skin shedding easier by a warm soak in water. This isn’t harming the gecko because the skin is very much so ready. This doesn’t mean you should go and rip shed off a reptile though, unless you know what your doing. Edit: I forgot to mention, and I’ve gotten multiple comments on it. Geckos eat their shed skin, so for the most part you don’t need to help them since they rip it off. However, occasionally they will get stuck shed on their toes, which will cut off blood circulation, this does require assistance in most situations.
@@philburr4075 I also have a Leopard gecko if he's finding it hard to shed his toes, maybe try wetting his toes then using your nails or like something a bit sharp that could help pull of the shed on his toes (:
@@philburr4075With the comment below you, be very careful. Not criticizing them too much, but that can be very dangerous and they might lose a toe to it if not handled properly.

You don’t need to help your gecko shed they do it for you but sometimes you have to help them because when they have some extra shed on their feet, then you need to help them.❤❤❤❤
Crazy how people throw “they’re a professional!” At everything. I own a leopard gecko and you are supposed to let them do this themselves. It’s also not a job. You should only help them when it’s an emergency.
With some reptiles, when shedding you can’t exactly pull off the shedded skin or you could hurt/damage them or their scales. If it’s loose and won’t affect their scales then be careful if pulling it off, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Also I am a Beardie owner!
1) for everyone saying it’s bad for them, I have a leopard gecko myself and it’s only bad to take it off if it isn’t ready to come off. You know it’s ready if it’s starting to come off my itself. Sometimes geckos have trouble shedding themself and might need some help getting it off their feet. 2) if you do help a gecko to shed, make sure to leave the shed inside their cage for them to eat as it contains nutrients for the gecko.
@@Bennyduckythe one in the video is ok because the skin was already loose from the skin but for people who don’t know if the shed is still attached to the animal you shouldn’t help
You taking off that gecko skin is not helpful to that gecko. Leopard geckos inherently eat their own skin in order to fill nutritional needs, keep safe from predators, and as act upon an inherited trait. You should have let the gecko shed himself.

What an adorable little creature! Ive never had an exotic pet by I lived by a shop that sold them called wrigglies and the owner was fantastic about educating kids. They had a regular thing where owners brought in their pets and let the kids touch/hold them. My daughter liked tiny snakes best thinking they were really cute. Everyday I walked past and id stop at these tiny turtles and I swear they came over to look at me. Maybe I was imagining it but it looked like it. And one was always scratching his butt on rocks or other turtles. Just side to side he'd move his little ass. 😂 So cute, I think they called the pygmy turtles. There was also a giant free roaming tortoise that used to freak ppl out thinking it was a display model then it would move. They had a massive lizard in the back, like 6 foot? Looked like a monitor lizard and a big croc, maybe it was an alligator? Anyway, it was HUGE. There was a sign that said "we keep these rescues here to show you how big your purchase can get. Think twice!" This gecko in the video makes me want one, hes so beautiful, but truth be told I dont know enough about them and i imagine vets for exotic pets can be very expensive. I'll admire from afar!
You do realize that leopard geckos eat their shed skin...it doesn't need your help shedding if your taking care of it right. Let it shed on its own and then afterwards if it needs a lil help then u help it.
I think you're absolutely right. The problem here is they are not taking care of it right. If it had proper humidity, it would have taken care of itself long before it reached this point.
Everyone He was ok- also am pretty sure they got the extras off if they missed any- Sometimes u have to help ur gecko get the skin off SO CHILL OUT GOD
Now to highly recomend not doing this as the skin on the lizard has not fell right off yet and wen they are shedding the skin comes off some point but if you peel than it can damage its skin

I have just recently got an adult Lepoard gecko and he shed most of his skin on his own, I popped him in the bath as he hadnt shed his toes

Yes agreed but this person is a PROFESSIONAL. And this is there JOB.
- That skin was long over due to come off.
No it wasn’t
@@SARclips_Officialdid we watch the same video?
@@FocusSxsh idk did we?
@@SARclips_Official I don’t know I have dementia
@@FocusSxsh oooooooh, that was out of the blue
Don't do that
They eat that skin after they shed for energy
it is ok
Also make sure you give them to plenty of rocks they naturally rub against them to break pieces of shed off
Thank you veterinarian
Can't the owner just feed them?
@@xXDaisyChannelXx yes they have to feed them but the gecko eats it skin to so still feed your gecko
… its crazy how yall aren’t letting a PROFESSIONAL do there JOB.

Bro all I'm wondering is that bois tail so thick 🍑 💀
😂😂😂
It’s because it’s grown like that or it’s tail was once broken
That means he is healthy. if the geckos tail is not thicc then he is hungry and sick.
Wow its so cute! , i have a gecko too. , but i think you should let it shed on its own.

The skin was ready because its loose but it will be better if you let the gecko shed itself tho😀

Make sure to get the stuck shed off the toe tips, otherwise their toes will literally die and fall off.
That lizard must feel so good after shading his skin❤

You are supposed to let the skin come off naturaly the only time when it’s okay to help is when it stuck on their fingers or toes
no its ok if you do that
@@Bennyduckythe one in the video is ok because the skin was already loose from the skin but for people who don’t know if the shed is still attached to the animal you shouldn’t help
Coolest unpack I've seen
Does it hurt at all? Someone should ask him if he wants u to do that, lol
No it doesn’t hurt it unless it is to soon lol
Thankfully not lol it can just tickle a little sometimes. It would hurt if they didn’t remove it
hes just taking of hes clothes😃
FUN FACT: geckos can actually shed by themselves
Fun fact they need help sometimes
Fun fact if they shed completely they can't still lose their toes if they don't remove it completely it doesn't always come off like a glove
The slime eyes became gecko eyes with the meme child 👊 became a egg from this morning breakfast 👍 😂

From a reptile owner. Never peel it off yourself, it can damage and hurt their skin really bad. Give them a Luke warm bath, not a full pull removal
Yes, but this person is a PROFESSIONAL.

I see everyone is a vet in here
It’s kinda like he’s taking off his clothing😂
Wow!!! That Gecko is so beautiful 🤩
You know that leaving the shed peeling to you gecko helps them get an appetite 😅😅
The one thing I'm assuming we had when mammals were lizards that I wish we'd kept. The PEEL is satisfying af.
When i put glue on my body and the glue is now dry:
Charmender ? Is that you?
I bet they feel better now lol
You should never do this to your reptiles
“Everybody shit shit shit shit shit shit shit shit 💀”
POV: you get liquid glue on your skin
Bro unlocked a rare skin
You must fix on the fingers iff u don’t remove that skin on the finger and the gecko grows that finger can lose blood circulation😊

They do it there self plus it might hurt in some spaces
Pulling the shedded skin of the arms and legs was like helping a your kid out of their onesie.
that was obviously not ready to come off, the gecko moving is from basically having its skin ripped off
That's actually not true bc I have a lizard myself and yes it's uncomfortable it is ok bc it's skin was ripping off in the first place
He do be dripping
If only humans could rip off an old layer of skin to get a dazzling new one
