This Dahi bhalla is made using powdered Urad Dal. The trick to getting the softest Dahi Bhalla is beating it well till the batter is soft and fluffy.

Recipe :
Instant 10 Minute Dahi Bhalla
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 5 minutes
Serves: 4-5
Ingredients:
1 cup White Urad Dal
1 tsp Salt
Oil to fry
To serve:
3 cups Yoghurt
1 tbsp Sugar
1 tsp Salt
Green Chutney
Sweet Tamarind Chutney
Pomegranate
Chat Masala
Method:
Grind the Dal to make a fine powder. Add 1 1/2 cup water to the powdered Dal and mix well.
Set aside for 2 minutes.
Meanwhile put at least 3” oil to heat.
Beat the Dal batter till light and fluffy.
Drop lemon sized balls of batter in hot oil and reduce the heat to medium. Fry the balls till golden and puffed.
Remove the fried vadas in a large bowl of water.
Whisk the curds with sugar and salt.
Squeeze out the water from the soaked vada and place in serving dish. Top with sweet Chutney, green Chutney, pomegranate and Chat Masala. Serve.

but maam, is it ok to use daal without washing n soaking. all pesticides in bhallas. they may turn out well tastewise but not hygenically fit for consumption.
yes, especially dals need at least 2 - 3 washes before they are fit for consumption. Making powder without washing it doesn't look sensible to me also.
