- This is the complete setup of my 180 gallon aquarium. I went with a custom acrylic tank from FishTankDirect.com. I've been planning this large fish tank for a long time, and this was the biggest size that would fit down to my basement.
This aquarium is stocked with South American cichlids, with Severums, Geophagus, and Electric Blue Acaras to name a few. More exciting things are coming soon, as I can now restock my previous tanks as well.

I have been keeping geophagus and advocating for them for the last 6 years to anyone that is into SA cichlids. They are so peaceful and with time they are stunning!

Looks great, buying my 180 acrylic later this summer. Currently buying 8 discus, 8 angels, 1 gold severum, and 1 non electric blue acara for it. Gonna run two Tidal 110’s and 2-4 60 gallon sponge filters in it.
Its nice when you upgrade a tank. The reaction of your fish when they get more space is great to watch. I'm in the process of building my fish room as well. My 240 is getting old and has a crack in the seem I'm afraid it may blow soon. I should have my new tanks in a month.

@@CichlidBros I definitely have to take them out about once a month to soak in chlorine for a day to kill the algae. Don't know if you have that problem up in IL in your basement but in SC that is a thing.

Beautiful and lively tank 👍🏽 if you wanted live plants they won’t mess up you could get Anubis, Java fern, frogbit and hornwort. They will help with the filtration, generally taste bad to fish and don’t need substrate so they can be pulled out.

Looks great, love the layout. Pro-tip, you can find elite cichlids plants at hobby lobby. They actually buy them there and just mount them onto a slate :)

@@TURKO2424 a guy in my Facebook group found out and shared it. One time he actually ordered from them and still had the hobby lobby tag still on the plant lol. After the discovery I decided to go to hobby lobby myself and sure enough, same exact plants lol

@@TURKO2424 they also have good sales on them too if you keep an eye out for it :)
You should put a fine pad in the top tray of your fx6 (because of the water movement, it swirls around the sides and then flows down the middle from the top and then back into your tank) it means you have to open it up and take it out more often but it stops all your media from getting gunked up it really makes a big difference.

I used to have ciclids years ago. I slowly switched to planted tanks. If it don't get along with plants I don't have it. But Instill love seeing all fish vids. Great Job on video. Liked, subscribed, and enjoyed.

Part of the challenge to make it work together! In addition to fish tearing them up deal with low pH soft water and 80+ temperature, yet I have lots of plants! I do agree that an Amazon biotope would not feel right for me without real Amazon only life plants.

I have my 2 dream aquariums in my living room, a 125 with soon to be 6 geophagus sveni, a pair of red tiger severums. some corys, red eye royal, and a blue eye panaque. Also a 150 gallon I sat up over the 4th with 6 retroculus Lapidifers, and eventually just a second pair of red tiger severums, Brochis splendens, and 2 chubby plecos. :^ ) I know your excitment well

I just purchased my first big tank 150 gallon and I'm in the process of aquascaping for my South American cichlids! I loved the plants and the layout if the driftwood you used in this video and plan to order some of the plants from elite cichlids web site. I was curious to know where you got the drift wood though !!??

Really like the new setup, I love severums, the one with red spots is gorgeous, are those rocks real? Are you worried about sand getting in to canister, I went with peace river which is more of a fine gravel. I am planning to upgrade to 180 as well if my fish cross 12 inch size.
Thanks! The rocks are real, I picked them up at a LFS. Not too worried about the sand. If too much is getting in the canister I’ll adjust the intake to be higher. Good luck on your upgrade!
