- The saying that "the truth wears no disguise" , underscores Senator Nwoko,s bold step in this regard . Culturally speaking , the Anioma region has a lot in common with the five south eastern states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo. Apart from sharing similar language and cultural features with the south east states, it is widely acknowledged that their ancestor Ezechime , has clans all over Anioma land , especially Aniocha north.
Even the Aro people domiciled in the south east , are reputed to be descendants of Ezechime, the historical figure associated with the many clans in present day Aniocha North.
I stopped campaigning for the creation of Orlu state, the moment I learnt thst Senator Ned has proposed for the Anioma state. And that it will be in the south east.The greatest thing that he has done for Ndi Igbo snd our ancestors. I support the creation of Anioma state with all my heart
We need Anioma State and not Orlu State.

Listen carefully to that song sang by that lady which said anyi na kpor-Osadebe, igbo na kpor- Osadebe then you will understand. Don't forget that Denis Osadebe of blessed memories, then Governor of Midwestern, was from Asaba and Don't also forget that the music legend Osita Osadebe is from Anambra? Did this happen by coincidence?. Two similar names from 2 different states. What an igboism. What God did not create does not exist.
But you missed that opportunity when IBB was at the helm. I bet you it is going to be difficult now. Only a miracle will bring that about as things are today in Nigeria.

I'm from Enugu , we have long asked for Adada state to be created from Enugu state but unifying ndi Igbo is more important at this moment so I will support Anioma state. They are one of us

He surrounded himself with his Yorubas "brothers'( absolutely nothing wrong with that).When this fellow came down with cancer his Yoruba "brothers" kept telling us " make una go take care of una brother o!!. The man go die oo". When eventually he died we were the ones responsible for raising funds to fly his body home to his family. And we also had people to accompany his corpse to Nigeria.

I'm from Aguata LGA in Anambra State. I strongly supports Senator Ned Nwoko, it makes a lot of sense to create Anioma State especially if you're conversant with Nigeria Biafran war. To establish a strong 6 southeast, Anioma State should be included.

Did you listen to him well? It doesn't matter whether anioma is part of South East or south south. He is indirectly telling you that it will not be a South East state perse. The South East is the only region that has five states, the other regions have multiple states more than the East, it will be an injustice to Ndigbo if Anioma State is not added to the South East Region to balance and equalize the region like other regions in Nigeria and end the Political and Economic Marginalization of Ndigbo

In fact the whole argument or debate is based on frivolous sentiments!
The so called Anioma area was never a part of the south east, even though a lot of the ethnic groups are of the Igboid subgroup!
Anioma is at this time a part of Delta State, which used to be Bendel state and which used to be called the Midwest region!
The Midwest region was carved out of the former Western State!
But leaving that aside, an argument could also be made for what have the South east done specifically or spectacularly with the 5 south east states??
I have not seen or heard of ANY collaborations between the governments of any of the 5 south east states .
Each state is ruled as a completely different entity from other Igbo speaking states!
As a matter of fact, despite the regional hegemony, there are still deep differences and conflicts and tensions between intra ethnic groups across the south east!
So what happens if Niger state is divided up into two?
What happens if Kaduna state is divided into two?
Both states have more ample reasons to be divided up, Niger state is just geographically too big to remain one state and Kaduna state is too diverse ethnically, culturally and religiously to also remain a state!
This might still give the north more states than the south!
So where would that leave Ndigbo?
Would they too still want more states carved out to match the other areas?
The Anioma people are still very distinct in some of their cultures , traditions and languages from the south east Igbos .

Wonderful presentation. I can't wait to have my brother and sisters from Delta State reunite with the rest of their kits and kins in alaigbo. The creation of Anioma state will restore the lost confidence of our people in Delta state who have had to carry to the tag of undefined identity by answering "delta-igbos' when in fact they are real Igbos just like every other Igbo out there.

What we ndi Igbo need now is Anioma state. Creating Anioma state from the Igbo speaking part of Delta state and from some parts of Anambra will help to boost the number of states in the South East and unify the Igbos the more. They should join the South East. That’s the natural thing to do. They cannot remain in a region where they are not wanted. The Urohbos have for long denied Anioma their rights. The first Anioma person to be governor of Delta State is Dr. Okowa after all these years of democracy. The Urohbos don’t want the capital to be Asaba. However, the Anioma people should discourage some of their people from claiming that they are not Igbo but Bini. There a lot more dialects in the SE, yet all of them accept that they are Igbo. It should be the same with Anioma.

Creation of state was raised by Ikenga Imo to balance SE with the other regions with six states each. Ikenga proposed Orlu state for this reason. If Ned Nwoko is going to hijack it for another state for the SS making theirs seven, that should not be allowed to happen. The SE legislators should liaz with Ned Nwoko and co to agree that if Anioma state is created, it should be part of Southeast or else the purpose of creating additional state for the southeast is defeated.
That's what igbos should focus on, am beginning to have a mix feeling about it.

All the citizens of the present 5 south eastern states are joining hand to support the creation of Anioma state as an addition to it's 5 state. We should at the same time prevent and fight against the ploy by the Yorubas to ceed part of IMO State, Ohaji Egbema to be precise to southern Nigeria or whatever they pretend to call it.
Senator Ned Nwoko at several occasions denied his Igbo lineage but now canvasing for Anioma he said was not an Igbo enclave! Is Anioma going to make south south 7 states or 6 states of Igbo? Am just asking. I heard him here say it should be created before deciding the region it will fall.

To be part of South East or South South region is a constitutional matter. The agitation/request is to have a sixth state for the South East, if Anioma projects their interest based on the need for a sixth state for the South East, then the constitutional amendment will include classifying and adding them to the South East region by amending the relevant provisions of the Constitution.
If the state creation is for the South East to have a sixth state like most other regions and they refuse to be part of the region, the project would necessarily fail.

There's little bit confusion here. Before creation of anioma state. The national Assembly would decide which region anioma state will belong. It will be constitutional ly created

I hope if, at the end, government give them, Anioma State, as part of East State. They will not turn around and become saboteur. Because some of them believe they are not igbo, though they bear igbo names. It will be good, for them to agree among them, they are igbos. They are speaking from both lips. Let they do referendum. Unification or not, no body should force them to join, south east. As an igbo person, if it is possible, i wouldn't allow the join South eastern. Most of them, their mindset, is different from an igbo person from south Eastern. Some of them, the way they speak, against south east, the hatred is real. Except you have not live or stay in yheir midst. One thing is sure mark my word, they will virtually be the two face people of, south Eastern. As onye Igbo, I am totally in support of creating Anioma State as part of South East to balance the 6 zones with 6 states except Northwest that has 7 states. However if more states will be created in other zones, then additional states should be created in Ala Igbo to ensure equality among the zones. Orlu state, Edada State should follow.
