The substance in your filter housing Is oil from the crank case breather. It’s a rubber hose that comes into the back of the air cleaner housing. I use to get it in mine a lot, until I read the oil fill procedures and they want you to add some oil, start it up and let it get to running temperature then let the bike rest for a min. Then add oil while hot. I was doing it cold and oil expands when hot which cause puking at mostly open throttle. The owners manual explains it. I have a 2015 street 750 with a little over 16,000 miles lol the oil in small quantities does hurt. You can spray throttle body cleaner every one in a while to clean it up.
Hey XG Rider, for your first time trying-you done well! I'm looking to get a "street 750" & put a better air filter system on it and "slip on" pipe. I don't want it to sound like a "Fisher Price/Playskool exhaust-the looks I'd get from my friends, would be hysterical laughter, and, comments of: "it's a scooter!"🙄😵😱 Good work to the project/task!
