I went out and did some digging, because I read and heard her in an interview that she had started writes melodies at age 6 lyrics at age 9and the songs runaway and running with the wolves were written at age 11 and 12 respectively then at a later age around 14 she wrote murder song(just the lyrics). She didn't record any tho till nearly age 16 -18. She carries around with her a journal where she writes down these things, poems, lyrics as they come to her. When she was young in school before she was a teen they thought she was autistic and did test her and discovered her to be a genius according to Mensa. Her journey as a musician is an unusual one because in the beginning, she did not want to be one. A friend posted a song she sang at school on stage when she was I think 14 or 15 maybe??? And an agent saw it and called her to ask her if she wanted to be an artist, a star, and she said... No. Lol. She was rather NO about it. But her mom told her that her music was like medicine to people in need and she should Pursue this for she could help people. And she definitely has. Go out and find some I interviews in English and there is this Haik concert that is a mini documentary ending in a concert in the woods she used to run wild in. Really do more of her stuff, Yu won't be disappointed. The concert in Iceland KEXP live , check that out, Yu get to see her dance, and be herself and her voice. Oh my....and she speaks more. Good reaction dude.reallt good one. She LOVES heavy metal by the way.
every time i hear the murder song, it's hard to stop the tears from running down my face. especially the live version of the song. and i can tell many people would feel the same way.
She is a magical woman, and one of the true purest people in the world. I was at my 4th Aurora concert Saturday, and she knocked me off my feet again. She was on fire! Please check out Through the eyes of a child from Nidarosdomen concert! It is a masterpiece. Aurora + her band + a string orchestra + a male choir + a 10.000 pipe, 40.000 kg pipe organ + a cathedral = magic!
Aurora is my comfort music....it's emotional musical ASMR for me. I like LOTS of diverse music....mostly a lot of shoegaze, dream pop, post-rock, alternative metal....MBV, Sigur Ros, Deftones, etc, you get the idea. But Aurora unlike anything else makes me feel calm and balanced...even when life is very much not that. Love her. Tho it is funny how _nervous_ she was here! She's SO come into her own as a performer and self-actualized human over the years. It's interesting to see her this young, from so long ago...she's clearly not yet comfortable doing it yet, even if she loves the actual music.
She has an impressive catalogue for someone this young. She is a singer, writer, poet, produser and a absolute artist. I saw her for the first time some 8 years ago and I have't looked back since. A once in a generation artist.
Running with the wolf's is my favorite jam the music video rock's. I seen Aurora 6 times in the US 2022. That song rock's with her band. I always look for Aurora reactions and contents.
I'm sure it's been mentioned but she does a lovely version of Life on Mars by David Bowie, on Like a Version. everything she covers on Like a Version is penominal and not acoustic but very minimal.
There’s such a long list of things I could list that make her just one of the most talented humans on the planet but what I think gets overlooked a lot…coming from an instrumentalist (flute) she plays her voice like an instrument with the mastery of a virtuoso. Her fuuuuuuucking DYNAMICS!! She’s not in front of a dynamic mic she can back off of like most vocalists need to do to control their dynamics. She just has such control of her instrument that she can get her voice down to absolutely nothing and still not degrade the quality of the sound coming out of her in the slightest. I don’t think I’ve seen that kind of control vocally anywhere.
That is really interesting, thanks for sharing your expertise on her talent, she is my favorite, but I have no musical background to use to evaluate with. Nice to know I have such excellent taste, lol.. thanks again
@@Oldperson-wt3ui absolutely! You can hear it the best here in Murder song. If you go to her final chorus with the big build and then she drops to the softest, most delicate barely there vocals with no quality drop off…it all sounds so effortless but…seriously….that’s incredibly difficult to do especially at the level that she does it every single time!
@@KatDorroughMusic That I do see, singing seems so very effortless for her. She is my favorite MULTI talented artist, I am a W&W, thanks again for taking the time to tell me how truly extraordinary she is.😍
I would recommend: - It happened quiet (The Current live) - Warrior (Redbull session) - Infections of a different kind from the concrete at Haik (filmed in the woods, so has a special atmosphere) Aaand, if you feel a little adventurous, there is a cover of Arianna Grande God is a woman, they had to put together in 1h and it is amazing
You should watch "It Happened Quiet (LIve at The Current)". Another masterpiece, live and scaled down, just her and a guitarist. (Different one, Silja Sol).
All these songs are from her first album called All My Demons Greeting Me As Friend. It’s a very beautiful album, though my least favorite among the four she has put out so far. My favorites are: Infections Of A Different Kind (Step 1) and A Different Kind Of Human (Step 2) These albums lyric wise and production wise are so incredible!! Her last album The Gods We Can Touch is amazing too. She has some very special songs like "Exhale, Inhale"… she paints a very vivid picture with the lyrics and her vocals… stunning 💜
All of her videos are just as meaningful as her live performances.. What I absolutely adore about this song, in particular, is she is literally howling that she is running with the wolves... idk if you have any kids but she actually sang Into The Unknown from Frozen II, as well. And I still think you would like Queendom.
I share your preference for live performances, but with Aurora, the album versions are so well arranged and produced and the music videos are so good and so thought provoking, it's a shame to miss any of them.
Aurora is like a breathe of fresh air, even aside from her music she's truly one of a kind. If you want to hear something more hardcore, she featured in a song with Wardruna called Helvegen (has eng subs). I really recommend it and guarantee it will leave a very profound impression.
I recomended this too...I ddin't saw your coment haha. Wadruna and Aurora have different vibes but in that song they match so well...both artists are like a cure to my soul
Great reaction. And she really shine in such intimate settings. Her voice and voice control is great especialy if you know she never had singing lessons. It is all natural. The same as her piano (as far I know she does not know notes and play and compose music on it). And she writes all her music by herself. For example Runaway when was 11, most of the Lucky at age of 9 (i live this song in Nidarosdomen concert) and there are more songs on her filurstvalbum written in stluch age. Ps. For such very raw setting you can check also The Little boy in the grass life in Magagony session. It is about Utota massacre where she lost someone close as a child. It is also very emotional performance on a small boat.
I'm really glad that you like Aurora as well. A good friend of mine, Lindy, the female vocalist of Wardruna (pronounced 'Vadoona', not sure why so many pronounce it 'War-druna' lol, shared with me her song with Einar and Aurora, 'Helvegen'. I think you would really enjoy the live version.
You need to react to her performance of The Seed on the RUclips channel Like A Version. It's ethereal. It's where I discovered her and I was in awe of that performance. That and she performed a whole concert in a Norwegian forest that was magical. Her performance of All Is Soft Inside is one of the best live performances I've ever seen. I would have given up live music entirely just to have gotten to be there for that one song in that one concert.
If nobody has told you ... she wrote this song about a couple that this happened to ... the woman was diagnosed with a deadly disease that was causing her crippling pain... and there was no cure so she asked her husband to kill her (since the doctor's wouldn't euthanize her) to stop her from suffering.
She is such a unique soul, I love her! You need to check out either The seed (the music video as well is great), or a live version of her cover of Life on Mars! Stunning!
I recommend you watch her greatest concert “Live at Nidarosdomen” The entire concert is so incredibly perfect I don’t think anything can top it. Also I love your reactions!
Love that you’re continuing to listen to Aurora! The vids you’ve seen so far are from early in her career where she was still quite shy on-stage. I think it'd also be cool to check out these newer performances so you can see just how much her stage presence has grown: All is Soft Inside at KEXP (filmed in 2019) : ruclips.net/video/IS2iVcGz_Ok/видео.html The Seed at COP26, timestamp 39:35 (filmed in 2022): ruclips.net/video/qHPIPdPhUP0/видео.htmlm35s
In case you didn't know, she was the mysterious voice in Frozen 2 who was calling to Elsa. Her voice is so clear and pure, I feel like if I could hold it, I could see my reflection in it
One thing you'll notice after having heard her live enough times are that her technique and pitch are so perfect, she is only off pitch when she wants to. It's insane.
Awesome reaction, and to think, she never had any voice lessons, she is just natural and her instincts are awesome (along with her voice). The only lessons she had was dance. She is the best multi talented artist ever, IMO. Looking forward to more Aurora, and the same songs different performances are always welcome too.
Running with the Wolves has a great music video. I think you'll really like it, in addition to the studio recorded version of the song. As you suspected, the studio recording has a much fuller sound with more production and layers, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction, if you decide to watch it! I luv Aurora!
It's 3:35 AM here, and I guess I should really go to sleep, but Aurora's Tiny Desk Concert is just amazing, I just can't get enough of it. I want to know what you think of her raw talent. It was the kind of performance she's able to do that crushed the wary/dubious distance I usually have with "talented solo singers". She's so nervous between songs, but she sings so well, just living and delivering her songs (with nothing to hide, as you said). It's simply her essence as a singer, as a singing story teller, that we see here. How beautifu, magnificent. And Odd Martin is great too, to say the least. Thanks a lot for that, for this really nice reaction to young Aurora, this already so talented singing story teller, and Odd Martin Skålnes, really great here.🙂👍
For a completely different live Aurora experience, I highly recommend the All is Soft Inside performance for KEXP. At the time of recording it she’d definitely found her sense if stage presence and it’s a totally different side of her. Also the full band is phenomenal.
Great reaction and yes there is an MV for Running With The Wolves, also I recommend the MVs for The Seed and Cure For Me, as always the lives for those are great but the MV for those are fantastic, I also like Animal as well.
i remember when i first saw Aurora it was for the Runaway song. And i thought she was around her mid teens. cause i remember an artist called Ambeon that sang pretty dark songs and she was 14. But then i was surprised that Aurora is about my age. maybe couple years younger. I think she was 22 when the promotion for the album these songs are on, came out.
Hi there! great reaction as usual :) Its my take that the Murder song is about (perhaps) an assisted suicide but of course she leaves it to the listener. :) I absolutely LOVE the Tiny Desk Concerts and I agree with you ..THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST.
oh interesting. i was thinking maybe loss of innocence, in the way of being told or finding out the world is not all sunshine and rainbows the way children think it is.
I'm not sure where to place suggestions but please (if you havent already) check out Wardruna and Aurora, Helvegen. Then look at Wardruna themselves, Einar Selvik is truly amazing.
about Murder Song, it's really interesting to see how different people interpret it differently. I watched another reaction video and the man started crying so bad, cause it reminded him of his late dog, who had to be euthanized yesss, definetely check out the mv for Running With The Wolves and I would recommed Under The Water and Black Water Lilies as well (that is, from young Aurora) should check older Aurora too, she is much less shy on stage
Cool! I like this one and the many acoustic sets she did with Odd Martin (and sometimes drummer/producer Magnus) early on. Clearly shy and not comfortable performing yet (serious introvert, so it took her some time). She's just so fascinating to watch, and she says the emotions making her write the song in the first place returns when she performs. She still moves her arms a lot, but her movements are more flowing these days. I've probably seen too many of her performances when I know when her eyes are going to widen during "Running With The Wolves" 😅.
She's a gift. Can't wait to see how you like the MV for Running with the Wolves! I love all her music but The Seed, Animal and A Dangerous Thing are my favs. 💜
Running with the Wolves is one Aurora song I would recommend listening to the studio version, and the music video. There are a few Aurora songs that I would recommend the studio version over live versions, and this is one of them. This and "The Seed". I once heard a reactor comment that she wasn't the best vocalist, and he was comparing her to people like Ariana Grande, who is undeniably a fantastic vocalist. The thing is, pop vocalists can belt out songs, but they can't make you feel what they are singing the same way Aurora can.
If you appreciate live performances, I strongly suggest two among many: one is "Aurora - Full performance (Live at the Current)", twelve minutes of acoustic and visual perfection. The second is "Aurora - Full performance (Live on KEXP)" the twenty-eight minutes that introduced me to this Norwegian gem.
Awesome watching that concert with you again, man! Can't wait to see your reaction to the RWTW video. It's a pretty cool video, and the studio version does indeed have great production, including some awesome background vocals (from Aurora herself). You should also check out Murder Song again from the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert. Her performance was absolutely phenomenal. It's another acoustic version, but way, way more intense!
Please react to Aurora singing with one of my favourite bands Wardruna. The song is Helvegen. And it is live I think you will like it because I've seen your reaction to Heilung
John, if you’d like to hear and see her singing live, but also learn more about her in the process, check out video titled ‘AURORA HAIK Full Version (English Subtitles)’… the video culminates with a very unusual mini concert. Incredibly inspiring!
thats a enjoyable reaction. i also saw your recent heilung reaction and because you liked heilung as well, the next logic reaction would be the cooperation between wardruna and aurora on the song helvegen. the heilung female singer, maria, shines in the song in maidjan from the same concert.
Here is the live version of Running with the Wolves you want, my friend. ruclips.net/video/s_20ed8k-j4/видео.html&ab_channel=DavidDoan This is from the Somewhere Else live-to-stream concert she made during the pandemic. Since so many of her friends in live production were standing without income during lockdown she hired scenographers, lighting experts, sound mixers etc on top of renting the architectural perle of the Forum theatre from 1936 in her hometown Bergen. A gift to her fans around the world being hunkered inside in lockdown. All profits went to stage workers and others that make live productions possible. This said - it is worth listening to the studio versions as well. Aurora is a very particular producer and sound nerd - and her ideas for her MVs are as eclectic as her songwriting is. Here is a pro tip. When you pick a song, listen to a live-concert version (from Haik or KEXP or some of those well-recorded sessions, then listen to the studio version - then listen to a stripped (acoustic) version. This, IMHO demonstrates her strength as a songwriter (the core of her songs can hold anything from massive arrangements to the lightest acoustic touch. And it also showcases her strength as an arranger of music (as she also does when she makes "blind cover-challenges" with her band - rearranging and performing a famous song in an hour. See you at the next crossroad.
She wrote all these when she was 9-15 yrs old. She is a self taught musician and singer.

Running with the wolves is genius because she captures the wolf's howl.

Aurora ist einzigartig. Gruß und Liebe aus Schleswig-Holstein.
I'm not sure where to place suggestions but please (if you havent already) check out Wardruna and Aurora, Helvegen. Then look at Wardruna themselves, Einar Selvik is truly amazing.
about Murder Song, it's really interesting to see how different people interpret it differently. I watched another reaction video and the man started crying so bad, cause it reminded him of his late dog, who had to be euthanized
yesss, definetely check out the mv for Running With The Wolves
and I would recommed Under The Water and Black Water Lilies as well (that is, from young Aurora)
should check older Aurora too, she is much less shy on stage
You should check out Aurora's performance of Helvegen with Wardruna! I think you would love that : D
😍❤️😍
She’s such an amazing storyteller💕
I’m definitely here for the mv🤩🤩
me too, I love this song in every performance and also the MV. He needs to see her dancing to this live, she is so awesome
@@Oldperson-wt3uiAgreed, so many great versions of this song 😍🥰
@@lillm6874 🥰😍
If youre gonna hear the produced version of running with the woods specifically listen to the wolfwalkers version from the movie
Thanks for your nice reaction! It helps me relive my first encounters with this wonderful artist! Love it!
Exactly the two performances i would have recommended as well!
I hope you react to the live performance of 'Churchyard' live at KEXP!! really amazing and interesting to watch too!
Pplease watch her live concert at The Nidarsdomin's Cathedral absolutely Breathtakingly magical. You will love it ...
Exactly now.... Crying hearing this😢😢
loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this Aurora content
Yes John 🎉
Awesome watching that concert with you again, man! Can't wait to see your reaction to the RWTW video. It's a pretty cool video, and the studio version does indeed have great production, including some awesome background vocals (from Aurora herself). You should also check out Murder Song again from the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert. Her performance was absolutely phenomenal. It's another acoustic version, but way, way more intense!
Her lives are amazing ❤
Great reaction. Love your channel. So smart and thoughtful.
Please react to Aurora singing with one of my favourite bands Wardruna. The song is Helvegen. And it is live
I think you will like it because I've seen your reaction to Heilung
Excellent reflections ! Cheers from Norway
I love this performance! Thx.
U r a true artist John 🇨🇦♥️🇨🇦
Immediately I knew 😂
A brilliant aspie girl ❤
Subs you man for your Aurora reactions they are awesome
John, if you’d like to hear and see her singing live, but also learn more about her in the process, check out video titled ‘AURORA HAIK Full Version (English Subtitles)’… the video culminates with a very unusual mini concert. Incredibly inspiring!
You deffinately should watch running with the wolves music video
♥♥♥ Great reaction, John! Love from Norway ♥♥♥
Aurora is obviously great! But you gotta give credit to the guitarist, and his harmonies.
thats a enjoyable reaction. i also saw your recent heilung reaction and because you liked heilung as well, the next logic reaction would be the cooperation between wardruna and aurora on the song helvegen. the heilung female singer, maria, shines in the song in maidjan from the same concert.
OMG!!!! YES!!!! 💜💜
Thanks or your patience, bro :)!
wait until you listen to eivor, falling free live at the old theater in torshavn!
Here is the live version of Running with the Wolves you want, my friend. ruclips.net/video/s_20ed8k-j4/видео.html&ab_channel=DavidDoan
This is from the Somewhere Else live-to-stream concert she made during the pandemic.
This comment is fantastic, well said😊
You have to do "Warrior".
Hi great reaction, you should check out her song "The Seed" !:)) It`s great and has a lot of energy:))
YOU🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘AURORA❤❤❤❤❤
