@@jubalcalif9100 you should read her authorized biography. She kept journals and there's a lot of background information about this shoot. Her brother allowed the writer to use her journals to tell her life story. Amazing book called "Madeline Kahn, Being the Music: A Life" by William Madison.
An uncut print of this film included "Down In The Depths On The Ninetieth Floor" done as only Madeleine Kahn could. It was telecast once, maybe by accident, and was never included in theatrical releases. I wish a complete dvd were available of AT LONG LAST LOVE; an underrated masterpiece.
And Burt would be the very 1st to agree with you! He LOVED working with her and would tell you SHE is the one who got him through this movie. He also got her cast in the film he did with Clint Eastwood, City Heat, when the original woman cast flaked out.
Madeline was very pretty and sexy and gifted. But Mr. Reynolds had talent of his own. He could do Brando to the letter. He had great gifts of acting and charm to viewers. And women were enchanted with him. Do not make the great Miss. Kahn out to be to be the only great one of the two.
Not really his genre, but entertaining, for what it was worth. I think he was so hot at this time, the producers knew they could make money off of him doing just about anything. He's such a funny person and can pull it off, but he should've been more selective. Per several interviews, he knew this...
Bizarre....odd...weird...but oh so strangely compelling ! Burt could give some good performances in romantic comedies....but as a singer or dancer he was strictly from nowheresville. And bless his heart, he had a great sense of humor about himself and would be the first to agree !
This movie is rated just about right; it’s crap! One of the all time stinkers. It probably speaks more about the kinds of nonsense being produced these days that an atrocity like At Long Last Love would undergo some kind of critical rehabilitation.
Miss Kahn, gone 20 years today. But her talent is truly immortal. What a legacy!
Indeed. #MadelineForever
The great Madeline inspired charisma. Burt is wonderful mostly due to her enchantment.
They are both magical.
Can't believe they're both gone now. RIP Burt.
What a verstaile diva she was, upstaging everyone else,by sheer appearance
You got that right....she was the most talented of the cast ! And the only one with stage musical comedy experience.

Burt Reynolds And Madeline Kahn RIP.
Gone but not forgotten !! May those two rest in eternal bliss....
Ugh she was so gorgeous and incredibly talented, truly wish she was still here.
Maddie actually had a big crush on Burt! So cute!
Such talented people. And who knew Burt could sing and dance. Delightful.
I didn’t know he could either. Or Kevin Costner { I mean he has a band but still lmao. } same with Robert Duvall
R.I.P. Burt Reynolds and Madeline Kahn
I can't Burt Reynolds could either dance or sing!@@
Thanks for posting this. Awesome
Classic list song. Original lyrics had "you're the top, just like Mosollini, you're the like great Houdini.....
I love this movie and can never find it Reynolds sings just fine for the tone of the film.
Thank you Mr Porter
Wonderful. He looks so handsome. Would love to have seen her in dolly or 20th century. Midler and cheneworth were ham.
That Burt Reynolds was a much bigger star than Madeline Kahn sadly tells you all you need to know about Hollywood.
About Hollywood and about movie viewers. They'd line up to see Burt Reynolds' movies.
Yes!!!!
'70's were a notoriously harsh time for female roles, Smokey & the Bandit was a huge hit. Both Madeline & Burt ended up on sitcoms.

These two should have worked together more.... Spark like crazy.
He's a better singer than Brando, that's for sure
How strange. MK & BR??

You’re just jealous.
both dead now
U2, soon.
Wow is this bad. Kahn apparently has a lisp or something that makes her words unintelligible
Just awful
Awful!
Michael Brinkers he was so handsome and Debonair
Not!
He was so handsome and she was so funny and beautiful
