    The Torlon picks are great. The material is so smooth. One of the toughest picks (besides metal) that you'll ever use. The 6mm Torlon is my favorite.

      Torlon is on my short list. I think at least one will be in my next order. I think he has three different thicknesses. I also want to try his Huflon, Huftech and Huftron materials. And the Ultem, Polysulfone, Ertalyte, and PEEK all look really cool too. And that's not to mention the glow stuff, some of which look very colorful even when not glowing (not just satin white). I'm hooked!

    Too cool. Gonna check him out. years back a band mate started using thick picks, said he started having trouble with hand from squeezing pick. thick pick gave him the hard attack without the stress to the picking hand. Digging the Canvas.

    Larger picks have done more to improve my playing than anything else. Each pick model and material reacts and plays differently, which is great for inspiration when playing. The tolerances on the picks are amazing, considering they are completely handmade.

    The canvas is micarta. It's like G10/ carbon fiber, but they use canvas or paper, cardboard layers in a poly, pressed and it sets. You usually see them used for handle scales for knives, I've never thought of them for picks. I'm dubious of it wearing though. With handles the paper will start to come out as it wears. Its nice on handles because it gives it a good feel, not sure how it'll work with guitar picks. It might be fine.
    *I never noticed quite how strange and…unbalanced Kramer bodies are until I see that red one hanging on the wall in the background.

    I had wanted to get one of these for a long time, but the price was something I wasn't sure about. After seeing your last videos I pulled the trigger on a couple. I haven't used any other plectrum since

    I want to try these so badly. I simply can not justify the cost. I am well aware how much work goes into them. I have watched his videos. Amazing stuff.

    That honeycomb pick looks wicked.. I have been developing arthritis in my pick hand thumb joint so its getting more difficult to hold onto picks. I've been using blue tac to stick them to my hands & going to thicker picks. I'm going to have to try some of these.

    Canvas micarta. Those are basically all materials that knifemakers have been using for ages.

    • @SFBGuitar
      @SFBGuitar  2 года назад +1

      Ahh, that makes sense. I'm not familiar with the knife market, but using some of these materials for a knife handle makes a lot of sense.

      Yep, built a lot of knives with Micarta. Used in many other industries also.

    I use a green Dunlop. Not sure what I would do with that huge thing. I guess it would be harder to lose lol. I like the glow in the dark. I would get some if they were 1mm

    • @ultantierney8562
      @ultantierney8562 2 года назад

      They are surprisingly comfortable to grip and very accurate picking. I've been playing for over forty years and always gone with 1mm picks until recently

    I'd like to have the exact names of the different models mentioned, as you show them. I mean the name of the shapes, not the materials. Would like to know the name of the canvas pick shape and the honey comb in particular

    Dudes from Def Leopard use metal picks. EVH said they were the reason he had mouth cancer, so he used them. Brian May actually uses a coin I believe.

    • @davoskazooga
      @davoskazooga 2 года назад

      EVHs pick was made of brass I heard someone say who was close or his tech or himself. Brian May likes the sixpence, loves the year he was born, which however, regarding the sixpence, was a year that they had already changed the metal ...and according to Brian's tech, he mostly uses the slightly newer sixpences...the tech regularly has to clean the pickups from the metal dust, of course.

    I've never heard of these picks before. Very interesting! I have quite a large pick collection, but mainly Dunlop. It's time to add some other brands like this again. They look awesome!
    edit: The prices are insane though! On average they are around 30€ each.

    • @christianlarsson2038
      @christianlarsson2038 2 года назад

      More like starting at around 30€. Which is quite competitive/normal in the world of handmade picks made out of exotic and expensive high performance plastics and resins. Compare with BHL, Purple Plectrums etc

    • @gathda
      @gathda 2 года назад

      The picks last forever due to the materials he uses. I haven't seen any wear on the ones I use, and I use stainless strings. I also have an arm injury and tend to drop things, so the larger picks are great.

    • @TheTactical6string
      @TheTactical6string 2 года назад

      I originally was turned off a bit with the DAWMAN picks being $6-$8 each but once i got them I found them worth it, theyre over 3yrs old now and the tips are still there and its changed the way I play for the better!
