So I just got my first wave bird controller everything was pretty well maintained. I haven’t tore it apart yet. (Awaiting tri wing driver) . But the z button has no click to it at all is there a spring that’s suppose to make contact inside I can’t tell from your video any help would be appreciated
Huge help, I was nervous about disassembling my wave bird. I’ve worked on normal GameCube controllers before but it’s my only wave bird and even with my experience it’s daunting the first time around
Just curious, would any dish soap work, or is Dawn preferred? I know people usually say Dawn but not sure if its just because its the brand people buy or if its actually better than other brands for cleaning plastics like this.
Great question, I'd imagine any dish soap would work. Dawn is obviously good at marketing and a household name (at least here in the US). It's also a great degreaser and cleaner. Thanks for watching!
@@Wildsamsquanch7Thank you for the concise tutorial! I'm going to try this with what dish soap I have on hand and I'll reply if there's any issues. I doubt it makes much difference but wanted to double check before I potentially ruin the plastic or something lol
@@TheFallonite I use a soft bristle brush or a tooth brush to clean the parts. Obviously anything electronic or metal (screws, springs or clips) i don't put in the water and make sure the small buttons don't go down the drain. It's a fun project! Good luck!
Yea. Theyre pretty simple to take apart and such. Recommend airbrushing it from what I've seen, but also you can use rit dye and hot water to dye it. Keeps the original plastic feel
My controller has a weird quirk/problem where i kinda have to push very hard the on switch for it to work and sometimes it turns itself off. The seird thing is that it's happened on both my wavebirds, i wonder if this is common or happened to anyone else
Came to this video because I just got a full 4 player setup and the analog stick and C stick look nasty. So, I bought some replacements to make them look good as new
Thank you so much for the guide! Gave me the confidence to restore my childhood controller 😁
Awesome! Happy the video helped and thank you for watching.
Thank you so much for this video I just got that controller from 2 days ago

I have stick drift on my wavebird is there a way to repair without replacing the original analog hardware thanks
i got one but i dont have the reciver, there is any alternative to do something to get this working without a reciber for example a esp32 mod
Can the receiver be disassembled and painted?
