    MENTAL HEALTH! That's what I'm ready for. Improvement in mental health. I started as a CNA at the bedside back in 2011, got my BSN in 2020 and have continued at the bedside until now. I am ready for that change of pace.

    All I can say is, wow. You literally took the words out of my mouth. Many of the same emotions and feelings that you shared are things that I’m dealing with at the moment. The pressure. The running around. And most importantly, the burn out. I said to myself a while back that if I continue on this course with bedside nursing eventually my feelings will turn and I may become bitter in someway. I don’t want to be one of those nurses that show up to work with a bad attitude from the jump, always miserable. I currently have same desire that you have to get away from bedside is burning in my mind as well. I’ve heard on multiple occasions that I don’t need a masters so I may get my masters in education but still get certified in someway in nursing informatics. Thank you very much for making this video.

      There are just so many different routes you can go in nursing, that’s one of the nice things. I even did clinicals for a while and it paid decently and was fun. So just stay optimistic!

    Hello, I really enjoyed this video! I am an undergraduate student preparing to enter nursing school in the fall semester and would like to specialize in the field of nurse informatics. I am not a people person and like to work alone at a desk, so the thought of spending years working by the bedside gives me a lot of anxiety. I was wondering if to become an informatic nurse, do I need to have years of bedside nursing experience like you, or would the clinicals I do in nursing school be sufficient? I would like to immediately jump into informatics if thats possible!

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  Год назад +3

      Having some experience in the field, will really help. Getting your first position can be quite competitive, so I would recommend maybe even a year. BUT, you really only need a BSN, so it is possible. Keep me updated on your journey! I’m interested to hear

    Hey David I have a quick question. I’m a nurse of almost 2 years with a BSN and I’m thinking about going back for my MSN in administration…. Do you think it would be worth it? I work outpatient (and love it) and we don’t have a charge nurse or assistant nurse manager positions. I don’t know anyone with an MSN in administration, only NPs and Informatics (and all the informatics MSNs have said the same thing about the MSN informatics degree that you have)
    Great Videos btw 👍🏻

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  2 года назад +6

      Honestly, with your BSN you can start applying to jobs in informatics. Lets say you get a job in informatics with your BSN and do not like the work, well then, you didn't waste any time in school, but if you do like it, then you could go to school for your MSN while working in the field. They also might help pay for it!

I have a remote clinical informatics job interview Monday but I’m TERRIFIED of going to 5 days/wk, mainly because I feel like your working more days & have to ask for time off/Flex Time for appointments. It sounds like your saying it’s worth it though? Lol give me some positives lol

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  2 года назад +1

      If your goal is informatics in the end, you could go with an MSN in that, because you can also be in a leader role with that. If you are wanting to be a leader of something else some day, then you could go for leadership. I guess it depends on the long term goal.

      Hi David, I watched more of your videos and you actually answered a lot of the questions I had! I made my initial post too soon (Ohhh the shame). Thank you so much for posting these! I am in the last core class of my MSN, then onto the informatics based courses beginning in January. So, if I were going to change tracks now would be the time. After watching your videos and talking to some others in the field, I don't think I am going to change. Informatics seems like an awesome field to get into. I will keep watching your videos, but I do have a follow up question. I currently work in an outpatient GI clinic (I just got this job in the summer of this year because it is a part time position and allows me to do school and take care of my dog). This is actually my 4th nursing job I have had so far. I have absolutely no informatics experience other than working for the IT department for my undergraduate college. I know you mentioned that you can start working in nursing informatics with just your RN degree. Are there other ways to gain experience in the field such as councils or committees? Or ways to make you more hire-able to future informatics employers? Since I have had 4 nursing jobs already, I don't want to appear that I am changing jobs all the time. But I would really like to start getting experience. I hope that made sense. Again, thank you so much for these videos, they are giving me life!--Audrey

    • @DabidRobinson
      @DabidRobinson  Год назад +1

      Happy you found this helpful! There is definitely quite a bit of videos on my page now haha 😅 not your RN but BSN, you can get a position in the field. The fact you’ll have your msn will make your resume much more appealing. Remember when you interview try to not only talking about your bedside experience but other I initiatives you have taken on your unit. If you have an informatics department at your current job I would just blindly email them and introduce yourself! That’s what I did haha

      @@DabidRobinson thank you for responding! I have reached out to the Informatics department and I am trying to set up shadowing opportunities. I’m just about halfway through my program (would have 6 courses left). I am struggling with a gut feeling of confusion knowing if this is for me. For about a year I went to school for Graphic Design & decided to go back into nursing for practical reasons. I know informatics is a huge field, do you know if anyone takes on creative projects within it with their MSN-Informatics degree? Thanks again so much for your guidance ❤
