3:05 very interesting to see Japan badminton’s support of china . I highly suspect it was motivated by yonex’s eye on the Chinese consumer market. But really all those taking the side of china were looking to grow the sport domestically within china and internationally 💰
There were surprisingly rocky and turbulent times in the early days of Olympic badminton and there I was believing that the flurry of red cards at the 2012 London games was peak bad behaviour. Another well researched video, Ben.
Badminton's history is littered with many controversial moments. And in 2012 it wasn't just red cards but black cards, was crazy! Thank you, part 3 coming soon
@@BenBeckmanBadminton Absolutely, I recall watching events unfold in 2012 with an increasing sense of stunned amazement. The players were like turkeys voting for Christmas.
Never knew that early Badminton days was filled with political controversy, you open our eyes for badminton fan it’s history.. it keep on getting better and better ❤
I think for the first badminton Olympics (Barcelona 92), those who reach semifinals will get bronze medals automatically. That's how Malaysia got its first Olympics medal. From Atlanta 96 onwards, semi finalists will need to play for bronze medals.
Great videos Ben, we're only at part 2 and there's so much drama already! Really appreciate the amount of time and research you've put into these videos. Thank you for shedding light onto some divisive and frustrating times.
