Carson was on TV for 30 years, and had nearly 15 million viewers each show. Carson's final show, however, was watched by 55 million viewers. Yeah, NOBODY comes close to Carson's success. . .

Letterman, when he was on NBC and about the first 7 years or so on CBS, was hilarious (in my humble opinion of course). After that he started getting way too political and left-leaning.

Jay Leno's last Late Night was Feb. 6, 2014. That marked the end of anything funny, or non-political.
I pretty much stopped watching late night when he left.
Conan was cool. I also liked Craig Ferguson. After that it was ☠️☠️☠️
Fallon actually wasn’t that bad before Trump became president. He even had Trump on the show in 2015 and it was actually pretty funny. Many on the left actually hated Fallon for that because he “humanized” Trump. The real end of late night television for me was when Letterman left the late show in 2015. Once I heard that Colbert would be the replacement, I knew late night tv was going to get political.
We have a Republic, not a Democracy.

Johnny has never really. been replaced. His natural wit and aptitude for using humor in an inventive way to describe current affairs left all of us chuckling. As a group, I find them boring, and perhaps others do too.

From a purely business perspective, what the mainstream media is doing is similar to what the music industry did back in the 2000s. The music industry ignored the obvious, that downloading and streaming music was the future because they wanted to keep their gazillion percent markup on selling CDs. They only succeeded in destroying their industry. I used to love late night TV - Carson, Leno, Letterman, Tom Snyder, etc etc etc and I put that all in the rear view mirror after Trump was elected and people lost their damn minds and everything turned to shit

Late Night Comedy died when Craig Ferguson left the Late Late Show
For 25 years straight I watched Carson and Leno on the Tonite Show. Once Leno retired in 2009 my wife and I quit watching late night TV. Leno was the best from the boomer generation and we could relate to him. He poked fun at all politicians and political parties. Along with the late night shows Ive also tuned out all of the major networks. I havent watched any sitcoms since Seinfeld and Everyone Loves Raymond went off the air. Back then Americans could relate to these shows and we would laugh. It seemed the host and actors had a soul. You didn't worry about the Woke and Progessive stupidity...
I never found Leno to be mean-spirited like Kimmel and Colbert are today. I don't find Fallon mean-spirited either but I just don't care for any of the talk show hosts anymore. Most of them can't do a decent interview and generally talk over their guest. I pretty much stopped watching network television when The Big Bang Theory went off the air. I will, however, tune in to Masterpiece on PBS.

I loved how Carson made fun of all presidents. Republican, Democrat, it didn't matter. You didn't hear him whining in his monologue about Nixon, Reagan or Bush winning. That's how it should be.
We live in the central time zone. I do not know anyone who watches any late night shows and have even asked people if they did. Unlike Carson these bozos have eliminated most of their potential audience and like MSM cater to a select group.
in eastern time zone those bulls**t talk shows start at 11:30 PM how anybody stays up late to watch their garbage is beyond me.

Bill O'Reilly is one of the best journalist of all time. He reports the facts and to the best of his ability lets the evidence determine the outcome. I hope he doesn't get offended when I say this. He's the same type of person as Robert Kennedy Jr. He's a man of principle and integrity. I watched him for all the years he was on FOX and learned a lot about politics and spin. It's none other than Greg Gutfeld, and I enjoy his show a lot. And so do those in my circle of friends.
Gutfeld is killing it with great opening monologues and his regular guess on Gutfeld.
Just thought I'd throw that out there for those of us who don't watch the other three so-called prime time late night woke liberals...
I realize this is your old network. But Gutfeld is incredible and we have you to thank for getting him his start. He is a voice, and personality more and more people are listening to. A long with bringing common sense back into reality...

These guys' shows won't do well in syndication. The material will be too dated for anyone to care. Carson understood that and assured his shows wouldn't become stale when rerun.
I like your debate format as you presented it recently. One hour open debating. Then present the same 7 set of established facts that people care about to each candidate and ask how they would how they would to address them. Allow two minutes per each set of facts: 1) border, 2) inflation, 3) foreign policy, 4) etc.to 7). Give them to the candidates in advance and expect a plan for each.
What that is telling me is that 22% of the people there would have voted for anyone except Trump. Stupid is that stupid does.
Part of the problem is the lack of local news which used to be newspapers LA county paid about $700,000 to their Health Department leader who had a sociology grad degree. She paid her daughter $190,000 in same department. The mayor of LA is paid about $400,000. The same as our President. The public is not informed!!!

Part of the reason for the audience decline is there are far more viewing options today than in Carson's day. Hundreds of TV streaming channels, plus streaming apps like HULU and Disney Plus etc. Then if you include social media and you tube it's more like a million options.
