Thank you queen, I’ve had my locs for almost 10 years and have been battling with breakage around the same areas as yours. I noticed it around a year ago and my hair was waist length. I thought something was wrong with me or I was doing something wrong.
I spoke with different locticians and they all gave me different answers such as not drinking enough water, too much new growth before re-twisting, not re-twisting tight enough in the past, friction from where I have been sitting and my back was resting on my hair and the list goes on. However, no one has said to me that it’s a natural part of my loc journey when in the mature phase.
I was cutting the breakage off then I cut all my locs by 3 inches a few months ago. It’s now much healthier but I still see this type of breakage towards the ends from time to time. Thanks for helping me realise that I’m not alone and that it is a normal process 😊🙏🏿

Thanks for the vid x. If you look at how women with loose natural 4c type hair who manage to keep their length without breakage it's all about moisture retention in order to get to mid-back type lengths or longer. We have to treat our locks in the same way to prevent that breakage at the ends or else it's inevitable and you reach a growth plateau even with locs.

I trim my locs every wash. There's always one somewhere that needs to be cut. I don't really care about length at this point. I have them for over 9yrs and sometimes they get on my nerves ( especially when I know I have to wash them) lol. The loc knots came out really nice.
