    Nice explanation!
    Just one thing to add - since in planar cut mode we don't have fine controls over the position or angle of the cutting-plane (we can move & rotate freely with the mouse but without idea how much precisely, nor there's an option to set a number as with normal objects),
    but still, if you hold Shift and then rotate or move there's a snap-like functionality: Shift rotation works in steps of 15 degrees, which is very convenient if you want to get some exact angles like 90, 45, 30 or 60.
    Shift move works in steps of 5mm. One square on the base plate I believe is 10mm, and so Shift-move goes in half of that.

      Thanks, holding the shift button helps a lot. Would love if they added fine controls too though. Cheers!

    Hello Thomas, nice to see innovative add ons to a very good app. I have a suggestion, perhaps pins and holes that can fit into each other just like used in regular industrial products to hold parts together can be added into the model inside lychee. Btw I live in Turkey, 1 Euro is 19 TL. So unless someone makes money out of 3d printing, pro/premium subscription is a bit overkill for us.

    feature request: could you make the plane have keys/registration marks to make reassembly of the physical models easier? Thank you!

    Cool... but only one concern, there's no rotation, position box to input numeric values on axis? How can I do to reset the angle of rotation? I mean if I tested to rotate a plane eyeballing the orientation and then I want to put rotation at 0 again.

      We will add numerical input in a future update. This tool is currently in V1.0. We have quite a lot additions to do to it!

    This is awesome - will there be a development that will add a "model fitter" (no idea what it is called) - that within the cut creates like a "lego-pin" (maybe even with a selection of space between?)... Hope my explanation is enough - really have no idea what it is called in english. :)

    I am having issues with this tool: When defining the cutting plane, there is no way to select cutouts. No matter the angle or position, the software doesnt recognize any part of the models as shown in this video, making it impossible to select/deselect anything or apply the cut. Am I missing something?

      I also have this issue. Glad I wasn't the only one. I see this post is a year old, and Lychee checks for updates on launch, but I am still having this same issue.

    In the last days I've noticed two more problems with planar cut:
    - 1st, the more annoying (sometimes blocking!) is that sometimes planar cut doesn't work! It either doesn't react on the apply button, or it just closes the planar-cut view, and does nothing.
    - 2nd, it's not blocking problem, but it seems Lychee highlights (in white) wider area around the cut-plane and it makes it difficult to see if you've positioned it where you want it (if you need precise position and there are many details around).
    The first problem must be fixed, or the planar cut would never be full-fledge feat!
    If there's a valid reason for it to refuse cutting a message or some indicator must be shown! (similar to how invalid holes are marked in red for example)
    To give you example to reproduce it:
    Open the The "Cones of Calibration-TableFlip Foundry.stl" in Lychee, and try to cut it vertically, so that only the two thinnest SUCCESS cones are left (ie separated from the other 3).
    The thinnest success cones are on the side with the plus.

    that's the best feature yet as one doesn't have to break out blender to do a cut in the middle of a model. But it keeps crashing the programm for me since a few weeks.

      Hi, that's a very good question. With the "Merge" feature, you can add connectors to your 3D models🙂

    • @Lychee3d
      @Lychee3d  Год назад +1

      Are you models in red color in Layout workspace? Because it's one of the main reason as the topology is in error. Also, it depends of your cut plane position and some very specific model. But without screenshots or scenes, it's difficult to tell.

    Can you give an example of why someone would use this? If a model is too big to fit in the print volume, but can be cut into pieces that collectively fit?

    • @Lychee3d
      @Lychee3d  Год назад

      Exactly. Or sometime you just want to remove a part that you don't want to print.

      @@Lychee3d If I want to print sliced pieces together on the plate, is there a command that aligns and places a sliced face on the plate (since I might make the slice at an angle to the plate and have to straighten the sliced piece)?

    The latest update made the feature pretty bad, it now has a huge UI band and its hard to line up the very center of this highlight to cut exactly what you want except with a lot of trial and error.
