4:22 An Architect actually did this. It’s done in symphony halls to break up resonant patterns in sound waves. And once the symphony starts, no one is allowed to enter the hall. You have to wait until the movement is over. When they do popular music, they seat latecomers between songs, not during.
Some of these I'm actually into, like the black and white checkered pattern, the two with wonky windows, the strange high-rise made of stairs, and the upside down house. It's strange... and I like strange.
Part of what I liked about the black and white checkered pattern was that the pool table is mirrored so it's reflecting back the pattern. A whole house like that would be too much, but for a game room it works well. There were a lot of these I thought were unusual, interesting, or fun. All of which make life much more entertaining and for me that's kind of the point of this ride. Even something simple like the molding going around the light switch had a symmetrical aesthetic appeal to it.
0:28 Actually it is pretty ingenious. Bad Schandau is part of the Saxonian Switzerland and at the time this house was build there was still pretty heavy snowstorms and so a lot of snow on the rooftops. If the roof was build like this and the snow just fell down and didn't put much weight on the roof. And the part on the front helped to not let the snow fall on the street but to the sides. So they did had a great architect working on this house.
Many of these are actually better than what some people pay high price architects to design. Because its not your “style” it doesn’t mean its not someone’s style. I have seen way worse that other people just rave over.
I'll definitely *+1* this. I'm one of those over-active people who _love_ to walk several kilometres during their morning coffee, so free architectural reign for me would be an apartment whose parts were spread across otherwise unused spaces in a tower or large housing complex. Having a 5km walk between the living room and bedroom would be a _dream_ for someone of my inclination! ❤🔥 (So long as there isn't any problem with having a lavatory and wash basin in each distinct part. A regrettable necessity with my internal health issues... 😇)
I think my 100 year-old house has problems: A bit small, tiny bathroom (but indoor plumbing), and built with REAL full 2x4 inch lumber. I replaced the "knob and thimble" wiring when I moved-in 40 years ago. My Grand-parents lived with it for nearly 40 years and FOUR fuses.
0:21 Excellent work on something that should never have been done. 2:50 I wouldn't hesitate to use that as a house in The Sims4... As the basis for a shell challenge. IRL, I'd be tempted to burn it down.
I find it annoying, the constant "you should have hired and architect." All of these situations are from crappy architects. Stop hiring architects to screw up stuff.
If someone cannot install something, it doesn't help asking the architect. Architects are also not responsible for peoples shitty taste in interior design. And, finally, an architect is a person who designs buildings and advises in their construction, so please stop this 'they should have .....' nonsense!
Periodically you have someone take it down to be given a good shampooing. I know a carwash with a glass box specifically for cleaning pets. It doesn't specify dead or alive. A few years of that and you'll decide the garage is just the spot for it. :)
That tumbledown staircase looks unsafe. If you want to make "art" don't do it with something people are supposed to walk on. Edit: the same applies to the second staircase. I didn't think it was possible to have two bad ones in one video. I was wrong.
I've been house hunting and I see this craziness all the time. I consider the price and then estimate how much more its going to cost to fix their mess. I saw a bathroom in the backdoor hallway- you can see out the back door windows as you sit on the toilet. I've seen sinks so close to the toilet that you can pee and wash your hands at the same time and your knees against the cabinet under the sink. I've seen basement doors that don't fully open because the kitchen counter is too long. I saw a living room with an 'open concept' kitchen but it had a large floor to ceiling box-it was a full bath! You could lay in the tub and chat with thd person cooking dinner. I get so pissed off seeing house after house with stupid construction!
Some may be wonky, but i would love to send you pictures of my house 🏠. I gladly live with a slightly offset fireplace for that much natural light. We literally have to walk around with a flashlight 🔦 .
Brutalist architecture was badly named. Brutalist buildings are very striking and handsome to my eyes, and will be treasured as more people open their eyes.
The fireplace running away :D perfect description!
I actually love some of these because they are quirky and not just boring run of the mill.
The brutalist one was great.
Makes me feel so much better about my own house.

Given what the word „Movement“ implies as a verb, I apply the same rule in my bathroom... 🛑🚽😋👍
The toilet on the stair landing is like something you'd see in a dream when you have to take a leak
In front of your entire family during a reunion.
The buffalo head over the fridge cracked me up. Hysterical. Very funny video. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Straight out of a sitcom show 😂
Faulty Towers, perhaps.
Hardly hygienic.
I kind of liked it - and it’s a Bison not a Buffalo!

Any time you say "you should have hired an architect" it could be the architect's fault. 😂
1:40 I occasionally have dreams about doorways or hallways that I can't fit through.
3:50 : Doric! This is doric! The Corinthian column head is decorated with leafs, ornaments! This minimalist column head is simply doric.
That makes it so much better.
As a bathroom remodeler 20 years on the job, I've seen some pretty bad bathrooms but these take the stupid prize.
Most of it runs under :
1) I have a "buddy" who can do it.
2) Save money where you can.
3) It looked better on the internet.
🤣🤣🤣

Building Codes? We don't need no stinking Building Codes. Good luck with that.
Keep wondering why I'm thinking of a different quote and realised I'm thinking of Blazing Saddles. 'Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!'

Title should be...When You Hire an Architect.
And I feel bad if there's an 1/8" gap on my homemade cabinet joinery.
The wheelchair ramp leading around to the stairs is the best.
But there was no door to go into or out.
@@Violet316 that's what makes it the best. Not only totally useless but also ridiculous.

Well they weren't 'all' bad, but I did do a lof of LOLs and SMHs. 😂
Delightful. Enjoyed every picture. Thanks
0:24 that’s actually pretty aesthetically pleasing imo
I was just about to comment on that and I absolutely agree.👍I would purchase a wood cover and stain it to match.

As an electrician who can't believe that is supposed to go there, yeah, the "professionals" in many industries are basically certified frauds.
That's true
Why would you say they're from architects, and not drafters that have drafted the homeowner's ideas?
A bunch of the images are aknowledging the architect's devious hand.
Well, they really should have hired an architect
I have nightmares that contain rooms like these. I’m not even kidding, very strange feeling watching thus video 😳 but I couldn’t stop 😂

7:58 kudo's to the poor child that will bump their head into that!
It's painfull enough with a smooth edge😢
Some of these houses look like something I would have made in the Sims 3 when I was 6
This all looks like a whole lot of malicious compliance.
Pretty sure the worst ones were done by builders. Blaming homeowners is low hanging fruit.
0:30 bucktooth house is kinda cute though 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm sure some of these were photoshopped but they're fun just the same
Bro those videos just make depression
The Brutalist building is beautiful.
For the very first time, in my you tube viewing history, I am in all sincerity asking “ is any of this real”?
I live close to the large grey building with the "added staircase." It has caused quite a bit of controversy locally.
Go to enough real estate open houses and you'll see plenty of bad design.
7:50 .. saw same thing at townhomes viewing. 4 stories, cheap, no insulation, electric heat, everything custom.
2:35 I hope their range hood moves at least 5000 cfm or else that buffalo head is going to be COVERED in atomized cooking grease.

Times people should stay away from Photoshop.
I think some of these are rich people who have too much money and not enough common sense.
At least some of these just look like photoshops.
Classic example of people with too much money & zero taste that know an architect thats on drugs.
I don't mind the light switch one actually. If you replaced the cover with a nicer one it would look better.
I feel bad for the ludicrous amounts of money spent on some of these "designs".
@8:15. What is going on? My guess human sacrifice.
Being an architect in the US is like being a sailor in Uzbekistan.
You look at a collection of nutty scenes from across the globe and THAT is your conclusion?
@@653j521 haven't you realised yet how hopelessly ugly US architecture is?

They clearly used galvanised square steel to extend the apartment 😂😂. Now they have a beautiful functional home for their 4 billion children 😂😂
galvanized square steels gone wrong compilation 2024
The apartment ones especially the one in isreal looks pretty normal for a foreign apartment
Some of these remind of the cheap fix and flip houses in real estate ads. Some of the stuff I've seen looked about as weird.
3^43 There was no more free space horizontally, but there was still some vertically.
4:07 that's awesome.

8:09 "What going on" Actually looks like an ancient form of air conditioning.
I love the narrow door. Keeps fat people out.
Obviously for the narrow minded.
I had a neighbor when they opened the refrigerator door it stretched to almost touching the cabinet on the other side.
In Ireland we have a word for these people - ‘gobshites’ (these ones have FAR more money than sense!)
Having said that, I actually did laugh😁😉
