Country folks are all across the land, we come in every race and skin tone, we are taught to live off the land, hunt, fish, grow your own food and the city people call us names and look down on us as if we are less than them, they live in big cities where everything is brought to them, when the stores have no food, banks have no money, these people will not know what to do. That's what this song is all about. Those that know how to live off the land will survive.
Thumbs up from wv
That’s really the divide in this country, rural vs urban. Amazing how effective identity politics has been getting people to focus on something as simple as skin color and calling that culture.
country girl here from the uk i was taught all that
Howdy from Bedias Tx.... round here we run lines in the Navasta Brazos and Trinity rivers!!! Hunt and process our own meat.. Country boys WILL Survive!!!!!
Howdy from ky
Hank Jr. is such a badass that even falling off a mountain could not kill him.
My family lived close to the mountain he fell off! I drove by it all the time without even knowing it!
Amen!!!
His guitar says Bocephus. His daddy gave him that nickname. Try All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight 🔥
If you are a football fan the song will sound familiar. He use to sing the opening to Monday Night Football.
@@cliff_rogers7919 `are ya ready for some football' ?
@@sr71ablackbird yes that's it.
That's pronounced Bo-see-fus..
wrong hank jr nickname cane from his grandma at age 12
I moved to TN from Chicago and I married me a country boy. Still my husband 35 years later and my best friend. Could not ask for a better man. He grew up in the country and fishes and we have a huge garden. We are making homemade tomato juice tomorrow along with some delicious homemade salsa. We can green beans and more. Never thought my life would end up like this but I am sure glad it did.
Congrats young lady to you and yours, been married here since 1987 and gardening is very good for the soul
Tell it Babe, TELL IT!
In an old interview, he said that the friend's story is a true story.
I always wondered about that. I didn't know if he was using artistic license or if it was based on real life experience. I should have known.
Guitar says "Bocephus". It was a nickname given to him by his father who was a legendary country music star.🥰
Not just a song...an ANTHEM!
The Hanks are legends, Hank 3 looks so much like Hank Sr. The world needs more Hanks..
I always loved that he included us in Northern California. People forget that us in Central Valley and Northern California are country folk. I live in a town surrounded by orchards, rodeos, cattle, and fields. We don't even have a grocery store and I raise chickens which is pretty normal in town ☺️
There are “country folks” all over this land, yes - and as an Ohioan, I’m also glad he included North California. “… and little towns all around this land” - basically anywhere outside the sphere of the big cities ! I live less than a 30 minute drive outside of Cincinnati, and while my town has grown a lot, we still have many “cornfields and cows” farms, and lots of woodlands for deer hunting, rivers and lakes for fishing.
I have much more in common with “country folks” than I do with “in-the-city folks” - and hope to move even further out to a more-rural area in the future.
no shame in raising chickens. one of the neighbors used to do that out by where i used to live at. those roosters can get pretty damned mean though. there was one that when one would feed it. it would fly up and over the fence and went chasing after folks at times.
@@imweakfordeaky I live in NE Kentucky (originally from Alabama) right across the river from Ironton OH and am always amazed to hear Ohions from other parts of the states refer to people in SE Ohio as "hilljacks".
Susanville here! You are correct!
And up-state New York is just chock-full of country folk.
Hank is a legend!!!! This is a song that stick with you and you can’t ever forget it.
Hank Jr is a real one!! Thanks for reacting to this song bro. Much love from Texas ✌️
Much love from West Virginia!
I don't care where you're from, this song is amazing. ❤️ Try Family Tradition if you wanna have some fun
Hank Jr. is a true country boy and outdoorsman. He fell off a mountain in Montana in 1975 while he was doing some scouting for a bighorn sheep hunt.
"A Country Boy Can Survive" has been ingrained as part of the soundtrack of my and so many other lives for four decades plus now.
The guitar says 'Bocephus', one of his nicknames. And speaking of surviving, he fell 500 feet while climbing Ajax Peak in Montana. Ripped most of his face off and was blinded in one eye, and lived to tell the tale. That's why he always has a beard and those dark sunglasses, hides the scars. One of my favorite Country/Southern Rock artists.
Country folks can survive! My family lives off the land for the most part. If things was to go south with this world we would survive. Some of us know how to grow, others fish and hunt and some of us know how to use herbs for medicinal purposes and how to find water. My daddy always said if shit goes south I want y'all to be the ones to prosper.
Ole Hank is a giant in country music he’s a legend
Anytime people talk about country legends Hanks name will show up.
His daddy is a legend also!!!!
Bet you would know who sang the NFL Monday Night Football Theme now. "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight" is a must, also "All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)".
This is what country folks call outlaw country. This song is the epitome of my oldest brother and this is the one song I'm having played when he passes.
Facts from Hank!!! Americans all across the US.. Everyone can be country folk!!
Hey brother, I'm a country boy from Idaho. This song has so much meaning for me. When I was in the military, my friends were from inner citys. And I ended up in an inner city...a few actually. But this was always my anthem. I have turned many brothers to Hank Jr. Just as they have turned me to a lot of their music. I am still today a huge jazz and blues fan. And while you were feeling this song, your head bounce was exactly what mine was. Thank you for bringing an alternative to your fans. I'm not even a country fan. But just someone from a small town in idaho who loves all music...I just happen to be a metal head.
His guitar says; Bocephus, which is his nickname in Nashville!
Yes, I'm a country girl, I will survive too! I can my own food and that includes venison, canned venison is the best! You can eat it straight from the jar! It melts in your mouth! Fresh caught perch are the best and I don't mind cleaning them either, my husband doesn't mind letting me! Ha!Ha!Ha! He's originally from the city and he doesn't do it right so I'd rather do it and be safe!
Great reaction to Hank!
There is no bare minimum, A good load of fish and a Buck is like eating the best gourmet meal in the best restaurant on the planet. Eating self caught food is the best there is. A gourmet duck cost the price of 1 12 gauge shell where I'm from.
You should definitely check out "whiskey bent and hell bound" and "I've got rights"
I've got right is amazing
I’ve got rights....
One his best💯😎🤔
You should hear tear in my beer. He sang that with his father even though his father died when he was 3.
Not sure. I believe Jr was 8 when his died. It was 1953...
@@fatguypa bro Hank Jr was born in 49, Sr. died Jan 1, 1953, before Jr. turned 4.
You should try Hank Williams Jr....The Coalition & The Ballad of Hank Williams (Hank Williams Jr's dad!) Jr sings it about his dad. The Coalition is funny, but true!!! I love ❤️ Hank Jr. His dad died when 3 & at the height of his career. Jr. learned a lot about his daddy. Oh course all those good old country boys took Jr under their wing & filled him full of knowledge about his dad! Almost every country artist has wrote a song about him or a reference about him. Died at 29, but will be known as the King of Country forever!! 👑🎶❤️
This song was written at a time when we were reeling from all time high crime and the big recession if the '70's. Very reflective of the times.
Seems appropriate for today, too.
Us country folk can most definitely survive! Love it! ❤️
This makes me so proud I grew up on this music in the 90s it's hard to imagine there are people who have never heard this. I know it word for word. I'm glad people are still enjoying it.
Give "Family Tradition" a try
and then if you wanna check out his daddy's music ---
Hey Good Lookin'
and I cannot believe I just blanked out on more of Hank Sr's stuff
Saw him in concert last weekend! Still sounding great !
Lucky!
Was he coherent?
I would love to see him in concert!
This was my daddy's favorite song. He listened to it all the time. Now every time I hear it I tear up a little with all memories of daddy listening to this and singing along. I'm so glad you listened to it and liked it.
Happy Friday AB. Do youremember Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson? This is the man in the recliner in her living room.
His daddy, Hank Senior, called him Bocephus when he was a child and that's what's on his guitar..
Hank Jr. is basically the crown-prince of country music.
Music is Music, that is the most true statement I ever heard. There is greatness in every genre
Hank Jr has a TON of hits, you're on a journey now brother
Hank Jr is definitely a legend... LOVE him!
Thanks for being respectful. Hank jr. is royalty.
His dad is one of the kings of country music and the creator of honky tonk country music
Haha 😂 yeah I just got into his dads music also
I thank God for my country roots. As I’m watching this my husband is out on our land hunting and I pulled 2quarts of green beans, I grew and then canned, out of my root cellar for Thanksgiving dinner. I look out my window and see my chickens and ducks running around. Goats in the pasture and the sound of my grands running and playing🫶🏼
Hank Williams Jr. father was a musician as well. I got to see Hank Jr. around 94-95 if memory serves and it was amazing.
Listening to Hank Williams, and Hank Williams Jr., always reminds me of the relationship between my Papa (grandpa), and my cousin Robbie, and I honestly don't know why, but I always think of the two of them when I hear either one. Thanks for another great reaction.
Went to his concert last Saturday. Hank's still got it! The man is a beast!
Dang we never have anyone come near us!
@@IdahoRanchGirl I can believe it lol. We're actually flying to Idaho in a couple weeks from Minnesota. Lewiston I believe. Golfing drinking trip. Can't wait!
Country knows no color, country is simply country. It's a way of life.
Love Hank Williams Jr singing House of the Rising Sun my favourite cover of it ... amazing!
Growing up in ALABAMA, Bocephus and lynyrd skynyrd are like water and air ,daily doses required!
That gave me chills. Brought back memories of my WW1 and WW2 veteran Papa and spending time in the woods hunting bucks with uncles and cousins. Awesome song...Americana
3 chances, 3...To make it on AB's Hall of Fame!?!?!🤔
Starting with this song...?!?!?😏
In that case, Hank is only going to need 1...😁👍👍
Hank Williams was a good singer. Hank Williams Jr. A great singer.
Please react to the Hank Williams JR song Family Tradition. I saw the best Concert I ever went to in 1983 in My Hometown of Wilmington NC. A young up and coming group Alabama opened up for Hank Williams JR. Everyone knew Alabama would be Stars. Both Hank Williams JR and Alabama are in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Outlaw Woman is my favorite by Hank!
OUTLAW WOMEN!!! 💯
Hank Williams (Jr's daddy) was one of the greatest song writer in country music.
JR now only does things that interest him so his albums can be a bit inconsistent but there's always at least one gem on them.
Yes us country folks will survive. My grandma taught me to make dyes, pick cotton, garden, can food and raise our own food.
I would love to see you react to "Heaven Can't be Found" or "Eleven Roses". They are two of Hank's best songs, in my opinion. I would also love to see you react to Hank SR. "Be Careful of Stones that you Throw" or "Mansion on a Hill". Hank Jr. is a legend in country music, but Hank Sr. is a LEGEND.
"Id rather be gone" " all for the love of sunshine" "where do i go from here"
His father, Hank Williams Sr., lived hard and died too young for his son to get to know him. He inherited his dad's talent - this song is as relevant now as when it was recorded.
Wonderful young man you get it
I am a southern lady who is the autumn of my life. I live in a safe, friendly neighborhood on my own 2 acres! I have plenty of space between neighbors. I think that I can survive
HANK jR and daddy are classic 🔥
Brought up in NYC and I didn't learn music survival knowledge. Moved to Florida and did learn to fish. But I do know how to walk the city and deal with the mean street. Survival knowledge of a different sort. LOVE this song... and he can sure sing.
Country folks will survive! We are a nation...black white Indian Asian. All races. I cut my teeth on a 22rifle. Howdy from Ky. Love you AB
He's not wrong. I learned so much growing up in the country it's not even explainable in a comment. We made our own sugar and honey, and our own jellies and jams with it. Fishing, hunting, farming, survival... Country folks know what I mean.
Elvis… the coolest man that ever lived. He set the standards that still stands today…
I like people are willing to listen to different types of music. I grew up on country and rock. After I enlisted in the Marine Corps while overseas so you could hear your music every group took turns otherwise nobody can hear their music. I can listen to every music from classical to heavy metal every thing except some 80’s gangster rap
Dang he has a lot of old good songs. You just woke my memories up... So many albums and great songs
Hank Jr used to sing the Monday Night Football opening song in the 90s 🤣 it was always a banger
You have Hank Williams, Hank Williams Jr, and Hank Williams III.
Hank Jr also opened MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL'S shows for a while.
Hilarious thing about this video is listening to the words of the song while he’s sitting there with thousands in rings, boots, a hat and a pair of Gucci sunglasses on
So its funny because he's singing the virtues of self-sufficiency...hyperbole but if you had no bills, food costs, etc....but had a job as well.....maybe you would use a bit of that disposable currency on fashion?
very awesome song one of more of my favorite artists
Yeah this is a real anthem for many of us. This video was actually shot 20-30 years after the song came out.
I relate to this way of life in the south. I grew up in Arkansas cleaning fish and wrapping deer meat for the freezer. Fish fries and fried deer steak can't be beat. Good memories!
You’ll love hank Williams all my rowdy friends settled down
the more u look into Hank Jr aka Bocephus u would really enjoy him. If you're a NFL fan you would also know Hank Jr for the into song every Monday night. He did it for 20 yrs.
The song is basically an F U to the government & the entire Establishment.. in saying we can and will survive without them or their big cities!!
Great Reaction ✨
Bocephus's daddy Hank Sr. was an amazing singer also. His stepfather Johnny Horton was a fantastic country storyteller singer. Try listening to Johnny Horton. Bocephus has a lot of fun and great songs
Hank Williams =Legend
Wait until you find out Hank was the voice behind the Monday night football song ;) ..
Please listen to who’s gonna fill their shoes by George Jones!
Love your open mindedness, wish more people in the world were like you.
I was raised on the Louisiana bayous. If we found a puddle of water we'd fish it. We made our own boat and went hunting way back up in swamp, we was 14, 15, 16, yrs old.
I've listened to a lot of reactors on this song and they never understand what the line " I'd love to spit some Beechnut in that dude's eye" As all of us country boys know Beechnut is a brand of chewing tobacco...thought you might like to know
Hank Williams is a big time country singer. Country people can survive.💗
The country bred are another breed altogether
I'm 46yrs old. Born and raised in West Virginia hunting and fishing. I tell my 19yr old daughter I may not be computer savvy but if shit hits fan I still know how to hunt and fish. I won't starve.
Well,I’m thinking if you listen to Charlie Pride ,you will be pleasantly surprised ! Look him up and who he was❤️
him and kid rock do some good ones too
I'm a 55 year old lady and trust me my daddy taught me to never depend on anyone. I can do it all my self !
His guitar says Bocephus because that’s his nickname and his daddy Hank Williams Senior was a country music legend as well
When everything crashes, we don't know no different. We live off the land, not having money. Don't mean a thing to us. No matter what, us country folks will find a way to survive. When I was 12, I would take a sleeping bag, a fishing pole, a 22lr and a fire starter. Up in the hills around our house and be gone for a week. Just living off the land. Didn't matter where I went my dad and uncles would track and find me. My dad would come up and check on me every day. I sure do miss those carefree days of my summer childhood. It's just a way of life around here. It's sad but I would never let my sons do that when they were that age. 50 years ago, was just a much different time.
Hank Williams Sr. gave his son his nickname “Bocephus” after Grand Ole Opry comedian Rod Brasfield's ventriloquist dummy. During radio performances he would send a message to his son, closing shows by saying, “Don't worry, Bocephus, I'm coming home.”
His guitar says BOCEPHUS. That's his nickname, I've heard it was given to him by his father, Hank Williams Sr.
This never gets old.
His guitar says Bo Sevius its what his father called him. Before he made it in music under his name he used the name Bo Sevius. His dad was The Great Hank Williams.
You have heard him before if you ever watched monday night football bac a few years ago. He sang "are you ready for some
Dang phone, " Are You Ready For Some Football"
Look at the time stamp on that convenience store footage that's the real footage of Hank's friend
this song may depict an olden days lifestyle in city folks opinion, but many of us live it daily and prepared if things get bad. I can't imagine anything in the city replacing this lifestyle.
We just need the land 😊 Blessings from Alabama 😘
I’m glad u have an open mind. The thing is I like any genre of music that’s done well!
NOW YOUR TALKIN!!!! His guitar said "Bocephus". It's his nickname. He also has a song called "My name is "Bocephus".
YES!
His pop and son both kick ass
Hank Williams Jr. is the son of the most famous country singer of the 1950s.
Hank Williams Sr.
Hank Jr. is also known by his nickname, Boecephous!!!
