I remembered watching this video years ago and thinking, 'college is so far away!' but now I'm going in the fall and I came back to re-listen to your tips :p (btw that shower tote looks amazing...I'm hoping Sears still carries those 3 years later haha)
I know that feeling when you first walk into your dorm room, it looks so bare and cold but then you always manage to make it cosy, it just takes a bit of decoration, so don't get down when you first see it girls!! Also, the people that live with you end up being really really close friends so don't be too nervous and remember that they're just as nervous as you and just as eager to make things go well. Good luck to all you new studies out there (I so wish I could go back to that time sometimes!)
I think this is my favorite video ever on YT. I watched it so offen as a middle schooler and I^m watching it again now, after having my degree. I love it!
I love your tip about compromising with your roommate. That's a great way to start a relationship with someone that you really do not know. Thanks for the great video!!
Oh thanks so much for this video Elle! I'm a senior in high school this year and you've gotten me so pumped for college. One other thing I like to have is over the ear ear plugs. Yep the really dorky ones you wear to mow the lawn and stuff. It helps so much to keep it quiet when you need to study and it's noisy outside.
I'm only going to college next year but this series will still be very helpful; I'll rewatch it in like 10 months time ;P As for suggestions, please do a College Wardrobe edition! What you think are practical, staple pieces for going to class, pieces for the cold weather, cute pyjamas etc and of course shoes :) and maybe how to organise your wardrobe too! And maybe a FOOD video? Like how college food usually is, or if you like to make your own food/go out to eat, what you usually snack on!
Roisin Loughlin Here in the UK I went to a small university. In my block we all had our own rooms, but we shared one shower between 4 girls, 1 toilet and sink room, and one bath. Usually they were 5 to these but we only had 4 girls on our hallway!
Now that I am heading off to college I am rewatching your college videos. They are super helpful. When I first watched your college videos I thought college was so far away and now look I am heading to college this fall.
You're my role model Elle, I've learned a lot from your beauty tips and life experience. I enjoy watching every of your videos. Thanks so much for just being there for us!
I'm so lucky! My moms cousin works at my school dorms and she told me the best rooms to pick. Now I have huge room next to the bathroom, with 2 big windows, new individual beds and it's the warmest room in the winter. And I have to share it with 2 other girls that I already know. The tips in this video are really helpful, because I have to move in this Sunday, but I have nothing packed so far.
Elle! You are too adorable! I'm a senior in high school and I'm or course very nervous for college, but you really helped to make me more optimistic and happy about my future experiences!! Thank you Elle:)
there is this inauguration ceremony for freshmen in college tmr. and i'm so freaked out right now and you know what- watching this video makes me feel a lot better! Thanks Elle :)
"It's hard to get up there sometimes....after you've gone out." That made me laugh so hard and I have no idea why hahaha. Ok Elle, get your party on ;)
this was really, really helpful. I am going to college next year and I like to be prepared in advance and with this video I got to know what's life in college is like. Thank you x btw, I'm definitely going to be watching this again before I go to college
i really like your background im home sick with the flu and i felt really down but watching this video really cheered me up and brightened up my day thank u so much elle! i am sooo looking forward to see the next video in this series :)
This was so helpful. I'm going to college next year (Fall 2012) & even though I'm a male, I'll definitely keep all of this in mind. Thank you so much, this helped me a lot! :) You inspire me so much Elle!
I've had the single serve Hamilton Beach Blender for about a year now and I LOVE IT! It is SOO handy!! The mornings are THE WORST for me and I always run out of time and forget about breakfast. But with exams and essays and having to constantly be on your toes it's so, so, so important to eat breakfast. So I just make a power smoothie - takes about 5 minutes MAX - throw the sippy lid on the blender cup and run to where ever I need to go. Buying this blender was one of the best things I ever did.
LMFAO oh gosh "Because its hard to get up there sometimes, after you've gone out" That made me giggle so much. I'm still in high school & I'll probably stay at home & commute to university but I think this will really help me out if I do move into a dorm, and I'm sure this is helping out all the people that are starting college/university this september. Great advice and you look gorgeous here, as always :P can't wait for the rest of the series! xox
I'm commuting to university but this makes me want my own house off campus (I hate dorms) just for the room decor! This was EXTREMELY helpful! Thanks Elle.
I would suggest a cork board too! I used it to put notes to remind myself of any assignments I had coming up. As well as any notes/cards I got from my family. And if you get a plain one, you can paint it whatever colour you want to make it all co-ordinate! I loved living in residence! You meet so many people, and four of my very best friends I met in res! (My school didn't have "dorms", we had residences).
this is seriously like my third comment on all of your school glitz videos!! i love them so much!!! i always watch them over and over again because im going to college in the fall and i am soo excited and all of these videos are going to be perfect!!!
Thanks for the tips! I am entering into my junior year of college. Most dorms on our campus are like yours was. However, I stay in the newer dorm complex and we have suites, so two bedrooms and one bathroom and a kitchen and living room to each suite with two girls in each room. I requested a private room so there are two bedrooms with one girl to each room. I love your videos!
it's so awesome that you put this up :) i really wanted an insider view of what dorm life is like. i'm going to uni in a week and a half so i'm FREAKING out.
i remember the day we dropped my brother off at his dorm. it was microscopic, there was one actual bed, then a loft with two mattresses on the floor because the cieling was too low. the one bed was really nice, and it even had two layers of drawers underneath. he was last to show up, and his roomates were so kind that they "saved the best bed for the last man" its now my brothers last year, and he still shares a house with his old roomates, cuz they're best friends :)
I LOOOOVED this video! Next year I am going to a residence hall in the UK, which is not my home country and eventhough I have everything planned, all of those tips really helped!! This must be my favourite "favourite video"!! Love you! Kisses from Spain, E.
elle ive been watching you and you sisters videos for like 2 years and only know am i OBSESSED WITH YOU! when its a hot day i don't know why but it always like a "Elle video day!" haha just thought you should know!
im going to college in 17 days!! i cant wait!!! i remember watching this when i first became a senior and throughout the year! now im actually going to be there in two weeks! i cant wait!(:
I'm so excited for university, and I haven't even started sixth form yet! I start on Sept 6th and it's my 17th birthday the next day! Sixth form's gonna be a lot of studying so I'm hoping I'll be able to create that ''zen'' vibe in my room to make sure I get things done! :D
I LOVED this video sooo much! I'm only 15 but I can't wait to go to collage in 5 years time! I love interior design and can't wait to decorate my own little mini house! :) xx
Great video! Atleast I'll know what to do when I go to university next year! I was wondering if you could do a back to school: school supplies and organization tips.
I feel like packing for college will be easier for me then most people (even though it's a couple years off). I've been going to sleepaway camp for 6 years, and that definitely helps with organization.
I really enjoyed this video! Even though I'm going to be an international student in London, it was great getting ideas for packing my limited luggage!
Thank you so much for this video! I've been freaking out about having a bare, small little college room without all my things in it and this video has been super helpful (:
you seriously seem like the sweetest person ever... which is even cooler because you also seem to have money - those don't typically go hand in hand but it's refreshing to see. :)
This video was so helpful! I leave for my freshman year of college on Saturday and I don't think I have enough decorative items for my dorm. I guess I'll have to go shopping...again :)
I love this video! As soon as you starting talking about warming up the room the first thing that came to mind was making the bed and then you said it! haha
I loved this video, just finished my freshman year of college and wish that I had this last year because I'm living in an apartment off campus next year but I feel like this would have been really helpful for me as a freshman :)
Ok, I had to comment again! Seriously as someone who has lived in dorms, I wish I would have had these helpful tips when I was starting out in college. Very useful suggestions!
My suggestion is to hang Christmas lights in your dorm room. Me and my roommate each hung Christmas lights and kept them up all year round. When we would study in the evenings, we would turn off the main lights and just turn on our Christmas lights and desk lamps and it made for the coziest, happiest atmosphere.
In the first house my husband and I lived in, it was a studio home and all tile. I hated it during the winter because it was so cold and we finally bought big rugs for every room.
I'm in a 11th grade and I can't wait to graduate and go to college, this video just made me extra excited but hopefully I don't have to go away to college, it seems like a lot of work and a lot of stress especially for your first year
I have already lived in a dorm for a year, but you made me feel much more calm moving in for the second time. Your room, however, is much better looking than mine, despite the "grayish yellow" walls. You seem like you were definitely a good roommate :)
Love your vids Elle! You are so genuine and your tips and trics are always really useful. Keep up the good work!! For now, all the best from a loyal subscriber on the other side of the ocean ;-)! -3
This is such a helpful video! I'm starting University and staying in Halls (like a dorm) and there are communal shower areas so this is def useful! I'm so exciteddd, although I'm glad I get a room to myself! Much love from Northern Ireland xoxo
I'm about to go off to uni in a few weeks, and this video is geniunely like a godsend, it's very helpful and inspiring so thank you :) I also watched another video about feeling homesick, i think it was on your other channel? and that too is something i'm worried about cos i'm moving quite far away and I've never really been away from my parents so thank you very much, these videos really helped :) x
My university doesn't require you to stay in dorms, but they do have dorms and apartments for students. I lived in an apartment by myself off campus for 2 1/2 months, but it didn't work out, now I'm living in a house with 3 other girls and it's great. I didn't buy anything new except for my desk. My room is beige and my bedding is bright blue, purple and pink, but surprisingly it doesn't look bad! Very different from my cozy country style bedroom at home though.
Anyone else re-watching Elle's old videos? I'm so happy she's back to youtube, it makes me wanna binge watch every video she made
Re-watching Elle's old videos while in quarantine because of Coronavirus!
I remembered watching this video years ago and thinking, 'college is so far away!' but now I'm going in the fall and I came back to re-listen to your tips :p (btw that shower tote looks amazing...I'm hoping Sears still carries those 3 years later haha)
Same here!:)

I remember watching this video three years ago! Can't believe I am finally heading to college in a month!
I love your tip about compromising with your roommate. That's a great way to start a relationship with someone that you really do not know. Thanks for the great video!!
Elle and Blair are like the sisters from Frozen!

Oh my god one bathroom for 50 girls?! I guess I am so lucky to have my own bathroom at college
Roisin Loughlin Here in the UK I went to a small university. In my block we all had our own rooms, but we shared one shower between 4 girls, 1 toilet and sink room, and one bath. Usually they were 5 to these but we only had 4 girls on our hallway!

LOVE your hair like this. I like that it's less piece-y and structured than your curls usually are
literally one of the best "what you need for college" video's I have seen yet. Thanks elle!
this was really, really helpful. I am going to college next year and I like to be prepared in advance and with this video I got to know what's life in college is like. Thank you x

This was so helpful. I'm going to college next year (Fall 2012) & even though I'm a male, I'll definitely keep all of this in mind. Thank you so much, this helped me a lot! :) You inspire me so much Elle!
I could just sit and watch Elle and Blair do vlogs and just talk all day, they're so funny! :')
You are so right about the picking the furniture and being respectful.

Ahhhh college in less than 5 months. So scared. Yet so excited. Thank u for the vids!
Elle...you should do a video about sorority rush! There are so many tips to give out that I wish I had known when I was rushing!

I'm leaving for college in the morning, and this was very helpful!
I love this video! As soon as you starting talking about warming up the room the first thing that came to mind was making the bed and then you said it! haha

Great video Elle! Can't wait for the next one in your mini series.
her voice is soo soothing!
I have already lived in a dorm for a year, but you made me feel much more calm moving in for the second time. Your room, however, is much better looking than mine, despite the "grayish yellow" walls. You seem like you were definitely a good roommate :)
I'm going to boarding school and this really helped! Thanks!
Much love from Northern Ireland xoxo
great tips! i seriously cannot wait to decorate my university dorm in 3 years!!
I'm about to go off to uni in a few weeks, and this video is geniunely like a godsend, it's very helpful and inspiring so thank you :) I also watched another video about feeling homesick, i think it was on your other channel? and that too is something i'm worried about cos i'm moving quite far away and I've never really been away from my parents so thank you very much, these videos really helped :) x

could you do study tips and tricks? like good things to eat when studying, good study plans, how to concentrate on your work etc.
