    Nice. Finally someone did it right with the tubescreamer going into wah.

    • @Michaelgracon
      @Michaelgracon 4 года назад +1

      Brandon Cash I’m curious why the tube screamer before the wah? Most times the wah comes first in the signal chain.

    • @mygabrielle7477
      @mygabrielle7477 4 года назад +4

      I believe he did it so the wah would stand out more. Ive been running a fuzz into a wah for some time because I’ve noticed I have a harder time hearing the wah effect after the fuzz. Never tried it with a TS though. Gonna try it out. But I’ve noticed Stevie’s wah effect is very strong and I’m guessing this could be why. Goes to show it’s okay to sometimes go out the box

    • @sonsrawk
      @sonsrawk 4 года назад

      @@mygabrielle7477 I believe your statement to be correct. I have run my wah before my drive pedals for many years and always struggled with annoying noise issues when engaging the wah. I also noticed that sometimes the wah would get a bit washed out. I recently rewired my board and placed my wah (Area 51 wah) after my drive pedals and the annoying noise nearly completely disappeared. I did noticed that tone of the wah did change a bit, was a little louder and less muddy. I actually wasn't sure I liked it running solo in my studio but when I used it live I was delighted and inspired without the noise.

    • @AnodyneHipsterInfluencer
      @AnodyneHipsterInfluencer 3 года назад +1

      @@sonsrawk The only reason I'd ever run wah first/before fuzz or drive is if I had a pedal like an old fuzz face that needs to be first in the chain to operate properly and/or has issues with it's buffered bypass.
      If those considerations are not present, I *always* run my wah *after* dirt/fuzz/drives because the wah becomes "vocal" and expressive. When a wah is run before dirt, it's more of a "filter sweep" effect than it is expressive.

    • @sonsrawk
      @sonsrawk 3 года назад +1

      @@AnodyneHipsterInfluencer Agreed! I know a lot of players do this but in my situation it simply sounds better, its more expressive and no whooshing noise to deal with.

    Interesting video. Did you notice the loop of cable next to the wah in the pic? Could be for running off some tops from the wah? I know that Warren Haynes uses a 100ft cable from his wah, for exactly that. Anyway, just a thought, it sounds as if you've got the sounds down pretty well. And you'd probably appreciate by now, just how much of Stevie's sound was in those huge paws of his.

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473

      As stated in the video, the loop selector is a clean bypass signal, the tube screamer as we all know is a non true bypass pedal

    THE RIFF W NIK SEVIGNY, Other guitarist are telling me that when you roll back the guitars volume control on a tubescreamer pedal it will create that texas glassy metal tin can tones. I'm not sure if the older tubescreamers have a built in buffer and the buffer is creating the clean texas glassy metal tin can tones while the older tubescreams pedals was turned OFF it still ran through a buffer internally.

      @@theriffwniksevigny5473 yeah but what a “loop” means here? A combination of pedals?

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  2 года назад

      Its keeping certain pedals on their own signal path. When you click the loop on, the pedals are inline, when you click the loop off, the pedals that arent true bypass, are kept out of your direct signal

    I don’t get the purpose of the loop pedal, can you explain it in more detail, is for avoiding interference of one another or loosing signal and tone?

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473

      Yea. The loop pedal keeps the non true bypass pedals out of the signal to the amp. I will go into a better explanation in Part 2!

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  24 дня назад

      Its a true bypass looper. Because the wah and tube screamer arent true bypass. So when you loop the two pedals inline, when you press the button on the mxr, it pulls them
      Out of the signal chain

    I remember, around 1993, I had the same Whawha pedal from Vox. She did not get along well with the buffer of my TS9. It completely destroyed my clean sound. It should be noted that the Whawha Vox already includes a buffer itself which has a very bad reputation. I have since changed to a Dunlop Real McCoy which is true bypass and contains no buffer. The problem is thus completely solved. I find that the whawha sounds much better upstream of the TS9.
