The Coast Guard trains rescue crews not far from there because it’s some of the roughest and most dangerous water in the world. This genius thought it would be a good idea to test out his dilapidated boat there. He’s lucky to have been grounded instead of sunk.

@@johngillon6969 Having lived in Lake O as a child with my snob Grandmother, can confirm: Poors are not allowed to be legally recognized 'boaters', even though they can actually back down the ramp unlike Suburban Dad Steve with his $125k Scarab wakeboat and lifted Duramax that gets taken out once a year, tops.

He won't be optimistic about a crane when he gets the bill. I think first, as long as he's sitting there unable to float it, he needs to get busy replacing the cooling system hoses and whatever else failed in his engine or he's gonna wind up in the same situation if not worse.

It's called "The graveyard of the Pacific" for a reason. Many of the shipwrecks documented in the area were caused by a sudden change in the wind. If you visit the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria, there's a big map in the entrance marking hundreds of shipwrecks.

Just a series of unfortunate events, but at least he’s alright and his dog and chickens too! Then there are the people trying to help him, good folks right there. Wishing him nothing but the best while he makes memories worthy of telling to his grandchildren someday.
If you don't have enough emergency money to maintain repairs in situations, don't take your boat on the ocean. At this point, that's swatting, illegal squatting, trespassing, and loitering. Is he retired yet or he's on a lifetime sabbatical.
