Just got the touring trim. Coming from the 10th gen Accord. Was skeptical at first. Would I do it again… yes! For the following reasons:
-The car works. The ride quality is far superior than the previous generation. Quieter cabin, absorbs a lot of the road and steering is better. It is a great cruiser.
-There is enough power for the highway. Had the 2.0. previously. Not as fast though. If you live in cities like New York City there is more than enough power.
-Great mpg in the city, actual mileage in NYC is around 33 mpg.
-Good build quality. Seats are more comfortable. Less glued plastic material around the cabin.
-Infotainment system is so much faster no lag. Great Bose speakers.
It is a comfortable car to be in. It works.
    The cons I have:
-It only looks good in black (subjective).
    -Gloss black trim scratches easily.
-Honda cut down on standard amenities for lower trims. It forced me to get the Touring to have the same features offered in the previous gen trims.
Its a very comfortable car and a good daily driver.

    • @Waxxumus
      @Waxxumus Год назад +2

I dont think you understand how CVTs work.
They do not let your engine sit at "High RPMS'
What they actually do is allow you to use your powerband through the entirety of your acceleration.
It keeps the motor at an OPTIMAL RPM to allow it to put out its maximum output without gears.
You also dont have the issue of losing power to an automatic transmission while it shifts gears.
Im not sure why cvts get so much hate. Unless youre tuning, then you really do need the 10 speed from last year.

Driving sedans used to be more rewarding and they would have cooler body designs than crossovers. Those were the main reasons to stick to a sedan but looking at this thing, its not the case anymore. Exterior design decisions were all over the place. Fixed the dated front grill. Improved the crab claw tail lights. Shoulder line is pretty good. But now there is so little character in the rest of the side body that it makes a VW look extravagant. Some combination of how the tire and wheelwells, the black trim outlining the bottom of the car, and the upturn in the bottom of the rear quarter panel make the car look floaty rather than the strong grounded stance essential for a good looking sedan.

Great review yet again, thanks! That engine and "ecvt" noise during the 0-60 run hurt me inside though....ouch. Drones. I HATED last gen Accord. Got rid of the V6, ,got rid of the coupe, the ugliest rear end of ANY Accord to date with the stapler or crab claw tail lights, the weirdest looking sport back side profile in the C Pillar.....yeah i hated it. So anything to me was going to better. At least I thought so. This is one is a little boring, and needs some TLC. But people need to realize, most of the Best Honda gens were boring looking, until you dressed them up a little, and I think that is what this one needs...desperately. But that engine, that can't be fixed. Should have kept the 2.0T. I agree that Hybrid is the future, but the 1.5t and all of it's issues, just let it go...let it go Honda, and CVT, just let all CVT's die...go away...forever! Color is nice though. Still disappointing to see the Honda Civic interior in everything now, looks cheap. Accord deserves it's own interior. As does the rest of the Honda's lineup that's not an entry level sedan! or I guess the Civic interior in the HRV is ok too. But nothing else! too much copy paste going on at Honda and prices in Canada are @@#$@$ nuts now with 7+% financing to boot. So Sad to see Sedan dying because of bad design decisions.

I’ve seen two actually being driven and the rest just sitting on Honda car lots and OOF are they atrocious. The only trim that is slightly less atrocious, just ugly, but not full-blown atrocious, is the touring trim. And that’s ONLY if you get it in Red, Blue, or ~maybe~ Black. The front is ugly, the rear is still ugly, the headlights are cheap looking (because they use reflector beam housing and not projector beam housing), the side profile is flat and boring, the inside is boring, the trunk opening/closing sounds hollow and cheap, they cheaper out AGAIN by not using a fully digital dashboard (and yes, I said “not” using a fully digital dashboard because a fully digital dashboard wouldn’t use plastic boarders and analogue fuel/oil temp gauges). No pano sunroof, no fog lights, no rear air vents in other trims, only the front windows are fully automatic, only top trim gets full-rear turn signals, only top trim gets side mirror turn signals, and the list goes on.

Got 20k miles on my sport L so far it’s not slow it’s not fast but it is faster than my old FR-S which is hilarious. The torque is very linear and the eCVT keeps the drive feeling like an EV that makes gas car noises. I know the drivetrain does use the gas engine as a direct generator to the electric motors so you really are getting EV propulsion. Only when under heavier load does the engine link up to help drive the wheels directly it’s quite cool.

This is the most plain, uninspired Accord yet. The front offends the most, especially with those two shiny plastic pieces(?). Why ditch the 2.0L turbo as an engine option? This is a styling and design miss. The last generation Accord looks so much better.

  • @GenXtra65

Honda makes Accords for people who don’t want to think about cars, much less worry about them. Nothing wrong with that. They only think about their refrigerators when they quit running. The new Accord is a SEDAN in a world of crossovers. Its target buyer is age 60 - 80, or slightly younger folks who have appropriated the values and lifestyle of that older generation. They don’t value 0-60 stats. They ask: does my family and lifestyle fit into this car? Do I feel pain bending over to get into and out of this car? I don’t need AWD (I’ll stay home during snowmaggeddons). Can I afford this Accord? Better fuel economy helps fit into my fixed income budget. Even if I have elderly-fears about hybrids, the 1.5 gas engine models get high mpg on the highway, and they offer far better features and value than most of the cars I’ve owned during the past 50 years. The styling evokes 70’s era large sedans and that provides a welcome nostalgia. Honda knows exactly what they are doing. Thank you for thinking of me Honda.

Traded my 2018 Hybrid Touring for a 2023 Touring in Canyon River Blue. The driving dynamics are vastly improved. The suspension is more supple. The power train is smoother. The additional levels of regenerative braking along with utilizing the tail lights vastly improves the experience and makes it much safer. Other than some slight decontenting, this is better in every way over the 10th gen.

This is the first full-size sedan I have seen that has been built to a lesser standard than the suv counterpart. 10 years ago midsize sedans where built to be more luxurious than compact SUV’s. Now SUV’s cost so much in comparison to sedans it seems like Honda half assed this one, and put all the money in the CRV.
