Yes indeed, when these units are given some TLC they are very enjoyable. You have a lot of nice "specimens" that you refurb and demo, great job! keep up the fine work 🙂

i see one of these on ebay. was it a short somewhere that can cause a "no turn off" issue

Hello there, I forgot to mention in the video what the power switch issue was. Actually there was nothing physically wrong with the switch / circuit. When the turntable is switched to its on position, it powers up the receiver / amp. Apparently the customer had the turntable switch on and thought the power switch on the receiver wasn't working ;-)

@@retroelectrotech yes, i have seen a problem with those too

@@retroelectrotech The manufacturers meant the Turntable to be the master power. It was considered like a sleep timer. So if people play a stack of records and fall asleep the entire system will shut down. It's in the manual but messes so may people up. My most common customer post purchase freakouts! Every time I ask them if the turntable is on, it is! Problem solved

@@areeko Thank you Alan for pointing that out here in the comments. I mentioned in the video that I would reveal what the "power switch issue" was all about, but I got sidetracked with all the other stuff. Yes, that's a feature on these units customers need to know about so they don't think there's a malfunction 🙂Thanks again for chiming in on that.

i found nail polish remover will clean tape heads very quickly if they're very bad

Yes indeed, I use acetone myself when the going gets tough on really cruddy tape path surfaces (metal), typically with reel to reel machines. In fact I wrote an article on that topic, not that you need to read it, but if interested, I've posted the link below:
