  • In this video I go over the route service changes and eliminations that took place on June 27th, 2010 due to MTA facing budget cuts. During this day not only were a lot of bus routes impacted by this but this resulted the elimination of the Brown M, V and W subway trains, the W train is now back as of today. A lot of jobs were lost due to these cuts along with a bus depot closing down. Credit goes to the rightful owners who took the photos seen in this video. Atleast the B37 was one of the few routes that eventually returned (like the B39 and n87, although the n87 was discontinued again in 2014 and haven't returned since...)

    Great video, the fact that some of these cuts still affect riders today is crazy, the N94 was actually the only bus service in my area, unfortunately now since that's gone now I have to have a 50 minute walk to the Hicksville LIRR station for the nearest transportation. I really think NICE should consider bringing that route back, it served the Plainview Shopping Centre, the Syosset-Woodbury Industrial Parks and the medical offices in the Syosset-Woodbury-Hicksville-Plainview area, it only ran during rush hours but it would be a game changer for many people and if it ran full time would also be an alternative to the n79 at least for the industrial parks along Sunnyside Blvd/Woodbury Road. Perhaps NICE could bring it back as a mini route.

    • @NeilQVLGA6455
      @NeilQVLGA6455  Год назад

      I think I heard NICE may implement a MINI line up in Syosset, Woodbury, Plainview, around that area soon, I hope that happens. As for me, I have to walk 30 minutes to my closest bus stop, and yes I do live next to the LIRR, but if I need to go somewhere near by, I would take the n81, I really wish that route came back.

    • @ultrafan7889
      @ultrafan7889 Год назад

      @@NeilQVLGA6455 yea honestly by this point I would prefer the n81 returning than having the n80, I feel the n81 is better being that it serves Bethpage LIRR and other areas that don't really have nearby transportation, and tbh while they're probably keeping the n80 because it serves Route 107 most of the time it's only carrying 5-10 riders per run as I've seen, in fact I got on at S. Oyster Bay Road near Route 107 and I was the only one on the bus until Hempstead Turnpike lol but obviously if they could have both they would be great but if the budget is too tight bring back the n81 and cut the n80, also they definitely need to bring back the n72 to Babylon, important intra-island route and not a lot of alternatives where it was cut.

    • @NeilQVLGA6455
      @NeilQVLGA6455  Год назад

      I just now realized I forgot to reply to this comment… no biggie, anywho… There is a lot of things that need to change with the routes, you’ve already mentioned some things NICE should consider bringing back such as the n72 to Babylon, that would be very useful for me because I don’t want to travel all the way to either Jamaica or the South Shore just to get to Babylon, this would be a game changer for people living in the middle of the island! Because of this, I believe that the n72 should operate hourly service during overnights. n19 definitely should be restored to Babylon, of course the n81 and N94(or at least part of it if not the full thing) should be restored and a whole bunch of other routes that should either be restored, rerouted, create brand new routes that would be reliable or have service improvements, there’s so many things I can think of.

      @@NeilQVLGA6455 That round of cuts resulted in the creation of the current B43 bus. They combined earlier incarations of the B47 and B62 into the B43. Also, the B10 was renamed the current B15. I believe an older version of the B15 at the time was renumbered to the now former B51. Not sure what else happened back then.

    Unpopular fact: Their also used to be a QM28 as well. The QM28 is currently the QM3 except the QM28 used to have two routes. One between Little Neck and downtown Manhattan and the other between Little Neck and 6th Avenue. The downtown Manhattan bound was eliminated due to low ridership but the 6th Avenue one remained and was later relabled to the current QM3
