Even into the 80's, Northgate was a decent shopping center. I still remember when that sign was lit up at night... the bottom star stayed lit, white neon strips climbed up to the top (think Mustang turn signals on a larger scale), the top star lit up, then it reversed itself until just the bottom star was lit and the process repeated. I barely remember this location being a Sears store... I think I was about 10 when it moved to Fox Valley. And my grandfather played Santa one year when it was Weise.
Yeah. This whole strip is an eyesore. Within a half mile I count 4 pay day loan stores and a few of those auto insurance places for sr 22 insurance because people can't behave. This was a nice area at one time, then the wrong people moved in. I don't know how this Carson's survived as long as it did for 30 years and 20 of it with the other location at the mall.
@@giantleprechaun2350 since 2016, carsons turned into a clearance center then closed with the bankruptcy. Where fashion bug is there is a bargain bin place now. Othetwise not much change. Carsons is being used as a covid vaccination site.
Also Bonton owned that building which is maybe why it stayed open for so long. I worked there before it closed and there were blue prints of that building and various other malls around the country.

These buildings really do bring back a lot of memories. I can always visualize how they looked at one time ! Great work !
Its unfortunate when neighborhoods start getting trashy businesses. It makes the whole area look bad.

The Fashion Bug used to be over there too. That was a popular place for clothes.

@@mallaholicretailadventures I moved to Arizona 5 years ago. Is there anything left over there now?

"Bon-Ton Stores Inc. Corporate Construction Offices" -You can't do any construction when you're bankrupt.
Carson's closed and now that McDonald's burned down this area doesn't get much traffic. The burger king across the street is also feeling the impact.
Yeah needs to be redeveloped. Keep the Northgate sign and green up that lot.

@@mallaholicretailadventures for real but they need a good staple store to draw traffic.
