Nice. Attempting first oil change today and this gave a few extra tips that the other vids didn’t, like catching the oil from the filter with a bit of cardboard. Ace. Thank you.
You are right. That's my habit issue. I clean the thread on the hosing and when doing it I leave a bit of oil around the housing where the oil filter goes. Having all the oil filter coming with grease on the rubber already at Main dealer also doesn't help haha
I would actually. If it has got a full history and engine oil change on time all the time. Because the main issues with them is that chain can go if not serviced properly. Also advisable replacing the chain at 100k.
No problems. Also parts are not expensive to be honest, which is a bonus. Well done. Yeah try few of them first to see how it feels and check the history please.
Ok got it, I did an 08 today first time I didn’t have to drop any covers, easy enough, did my 92 many times it’s a little easier, I like the NA’s better all around
Yeah you can do it without dropping cover :) I just wanted to show people better on what is happening there and where everything is located. Yeah older ones are much less stress. Loved my mk1
That MX-5 is in a terrible state! It needs some serious care. I wouldn't be surprised if it were rusty. The engine bay needs a serious clean. But at least it has nice clean oil inside! I wish I had a car lift at home - makes the job much more pleasant.
It is actually rust free at the moment. Unfortunately the vehicle is not mine and it lives in a middle of the field constantly. I do agree with you it does need a good tlc. It done well for 145k though :)
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne Thanks Alex! My 2009 NC FL 2.0 Sport is babied and only allowed to play on fine weather days - so it's quite a change to see something different. Nice channel! All the best, Rob
No problems. Well done. Its good to be able to keep them nice and clean and look after them. In my area it is a problem for most of the cars. A lot of farms and etc around me. Thank you :)
I will never understand. You're trying to do a video of a mechanical procedure and people are sounding off regarding how this customer keeps his or her car?!...which you have no control over! Some people have a life which doesn't include doting over their cars.
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne Thanks, not meant as a dig or anything, just surprised- these things are frequently babied. I get it, planting season around here can make a mess of roads.
Not a problem buddy. Haha yeah I think you will be surprised with this one... it takes only couple of days after a wash to get to similar stage.... which is annoying as hell.

No worri3s bud. Good luck. You can also use plastic bag for the oil filter 😀
Thanks, very informative 👍🏻🙂
You are welcome! Thank you for support
Санёк, можно ещё добавить рекомендацию - заливать в новый фильтр масло до установки на место... Это полезно )))
Spasibo ;)
I think someone forgot to pre- oil the rubber gasket before installing the last oil filter!

Would you say the mx5 mk3 was a reliable car ?
I would actually. If it has got a full history and engine oil change on time all the time. Because the main issues with them is that chain can go if not serviced properly. Also advisable replacing the chain at 100k.
4 years of having this one and it started on 80k and now got 140k
Only needed servicing, brake pads and oxygen sensor.
Will need a thermostat now.
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne thank you for getting back to me .. i ask because im seriously thinking of buying a 2.0 sports hard top .. 👍

Did u ever tighten the drain plug?
Yep I did :)
After the part in the video where I said about the torque setting for the plug.

Well funny u should say that. There is always someone looking for an issue haha
Were you off roading or something? What a mess!
Living around the fields ain't that much fun to keep your car clean.
