Practical demonstration of Miata alignment adjustment! Very visually helpful ... Thanks for sharing!

This video saved me so much headache. The previous owner of my miata had the caster all messed up and caused the steering to overcenter and want to get stuck at full lock. This made adjusting everything so much more clear.

Question: I want to lower my ride height on an NA8 with coilovers. Currently running around -2deg front and rear camber, 0 toe. I'd be happy with some camber gain but am concerned the toe would change. Would going down 1 inch make it necessary to get a re-alignment?

Yeah it will be very necessary, even lowering 1/4” will throw off toe enough to need an adjustment

Great video. I will be using my Paco alignment stands and doing my own translation before taking into my race alignment shop to get it correct and then I will put back on my stands to see how close I was so that I can reproduce later. This will help a ton. Did that car have R tie rods? I will be doing my NB on FOX with IL bushings and my Exocet on Xida XLs with V8Roadster arms lower poly upper spherical. It will be interesting to reference this video for both. My lifted NA is just a hope and a prayer I hit some equal numbers lol.

The most difficult and most important part is making sure the floor you’re using is completely level, none of the numbers will match up if your surface is uneven, also some people report slight camber variations when using hub stands like a static offset

So the alignment order for the front is caster -> camber -> toe. However, it sounds like if I adjust my camber it will also change my caster. I've been doing a string alignment for my toe and have an angle finder I put on the rotor to get camber. I wanna adjust my camber but don't want to mess up my caster since I don't know a way to figure out the caster. If I adjust my camber to the same angle both sides will the caster then also by the same?

The reason the order is as specified above is because each has a lower effect on the previous adjustment. So changing camber will have an insignificant impact on caster

What about for the nd and nc multi link rear?

    • @immortanautomotive9221

the NC/ND have separate toe and camber adjustments. They effect each other more than I'd like, but not as significant as the NA/NB

What alignments do you recommend for a Miata na in a race track ? ( no stock, 205/45/15 ). Thanks

Looks like I’m bringing my NA to y’all for my next alignment! Any local recommendations for mounting and road force balancing?

Not sure where to get that done, we have a regular Hunter balancer and don’t get complaints about it if you want to have us do it
