Got one recently. Not a real machine by my standards from when I was a real machinist, but still more than just a toy. Already did a little job facing, drilling and tapping a steel shaft and it did OK, just have to be real gentle with the cuts. Worst was that the tailstock was .025 inch low and there is not adjustment for that like there is for the back and forth alignment, so I had to take it apart and shim to get it close enough to drill with it.
Watching since my cj210a was meh.... I'm eyeing a 9x24 since i ditched using the cj210a as a manual machine. Full blown desktop cnc. Ballscrews, new x axis and waaaay more swing. They are hardened btw. I milled my carriage dovetail off and it felt like tool steel and not cast iron. it is cast iron but VERY hard. That god aweful clunking noise i had as well and it turned out to be chunks of casting trash in the headstock gears.
