- Ever wanted a pair of sunglasses that can sing? I have! The Bose Frames Alto is the second musical sunglass I've tried out, and I've got high hopes for it. $200 gets you a pair of handsome-looking shades with Bluetooth Bose speakers built in. Sounds like a winning recipe. But how's it like to live with them?

UPDATE: I did some more testing, and the Bose Frames will /sometimes/ connect to my phone without the app running. Sometimes they won't. I have no idea when they'll require the app, anyone figure out the method to the madness? Do they just forget the Bluetooth pairing sometimes?

You can also control the volume by turning your head, so you can adjust the volume without your phone not to mention they have new versions out that are louder and provide more bass
I have never had to run the app after the first install. So that is not true
It's true that I've had to launch the app multiple times to connect them. But not every time. Not sure why.

I have being using the Bose frames for 2 weeks now and I have never used the app. I didn’t even know that there was a app until I watched your review. I must say I also like the fact that there is one volume control on you device such as your phone or tablet. I also like that the FRAMES work great with my smart watch , but I totally agree with you about the FRAMES having zero base .
I suspect there was a stealth firmware update to the glasses, 'cause I haven't had issues with the app for a while.

Worth clarifying, the annoying requirement for the app seems to have gone away -- not sure if they updated the firmware or whatever, but it hasn't happened since the video 🤷♀️
Bose app is not required to pair the frames you can pair it normally. Volume button no problem just tell it turn down/up the volume.

Will you review the TFZ X1 true wireless? It has ipx 7 waterproof, metal case and 2600mah, you can call on each side, 4.6 gram each side, 5 -7hrs of usage, bluetooth 5.0, intelligent noise reduction...

i,ve been waiting for an excellent in depth review of the bose frames alto and as a fan of most of bose products i wholeheartly agreed that there,s room for improvement and the frame design isn,t too appealing to me and should have touch volume control in order to avoid having to use your cellphone and they can,t be use for prescription lens like transitions which adjusts to light in and outdoors.
i hope that a sequel design would be more refined and listening to music better sounding without compromising audio in different environments.

They say 3.5 hours on their website, but honestly they're lasting me WAY longer than that.
Using gen 2... Lasted me 5 hours on a workshift using Audible books
Frames is prescripted (Bose warns you to not to create custom lenses)
You never mentioned an equalizer. Try using an equalizer to crank up the bass and tone down the other frequencies. You would be amazed at what that could do!
best thing is if you wear prescription glasses then you can have the lenses replaced with your prescription. mine are clear i ditched the whole sunglass thing.
Only thing with that Is having to charge your glasses. You got an extra pair?
It works for me without the app on my Samsung s10 plus
They don't require an app, I've been running it without any Bose app.Just using the BT connecting with S8
Yeah, oddly mine haven't required the app for the past week. Not sure what's different, but they definitely wouldn't connect before without using the app.
@@SuperReview i think it's a bose thing. For my speakers it works like 70% without the app. Sometimes it just doesn't work without starting the app first. Also the reason i'm sick of bose, their app department is from 2006
vue was the first and its now shipping. to be honest vue looks the best. and has perscription options!
Wow, never knew these existed. Liking the styling, very cool 1950's Mad-Men... Designer Sunglasses + Bose headphones for 200 bucks, sounds like a perfect combo! Sadly, too good to be true. They got the case right tho huh! :)

You don’t need the app to pair...at all. You can turn off the voice prompts.

@@SuperReview maybe do a little testing on video like how handle different scenarios. being on a bus, a crowded area walking in the park .does audio hold up how they are on a call while in one of those places maybe some video transitions while changing scenarios just a little production
@@SuperReview get to the point first before you go in depth. maybe during your unboxing hit your major pros, cons, and HOW IT SOUNDS; since that's normally silent, then just continue with your review normally after that. i personally dont want to wait 12 minutes to hear about sound quality on an audio product, and id rather have commentary over a silent section than royalty free music... or at least some asmr unboxing or something

Good question, that could be kinda cool yeah? Do eyeglass places do that? I don't wear glasses, so I've never tried.
of course you can! You can do that with every sunglass
maybe thats iphone problem because with my phones( s10 )and i didnt have to download the bose app at all. put in pairing mode and connect. if you have owned bose head phones any if them you know thats what they do on turn each and every time. gives you the battery percentage and the device its connected to

I’m wondering if Bose came out with a line of glasses with no tech, would anyone balk at paying $200 for them... adding tech, with the overhead/r&d, to the cost of producing glasses would suggest they could justifiably charge a price ≈ standard glasses. I have several glasses and none are this inexpensive.
It’s a cool concept and I can imagine there are some fantastic use cases for them outside of listening to base? For a first entry they look amazing.

I agree the Bose app is really really annoying sometimes my Bose speakers or Bose headphones don’t connect to my iPhone it drives me crazy

iPhoneX. I have never had to open the app. They even “hot-swap” between my car and the shades. So if I get a phone call I can answer it with my glasses if someone else is in the car.
Yeah, honestly, mine haven't required I launch the app ever since I published this review. They legit required it a handful of times in the week while I was reviewing. Wonder if I got a firmware update without knowing?

Ok the volume thing is annoying that you find it annoying because it makes it better not being on them because your phone having complete control is better. Its one place. And if you cant reach in your pocket to turn them up or down you have to tight of pants and heck if they are tighter you can do it from outside your pocket. Just that little volume complaint is dumb for you to have on these.... besides that i do like the video it was well done and very informative and was done in a good quality

I have an android phone and the glasses connect via bluetooth without the app no problem. I still downloaded the app for initial setup, and I like having the app for firmware updates, but beyond that, I don't see myself using the app with regular everyday use. I think it's just YET ANOTHER case of apple products not playing well with other products that aren't apple. I guess I'm about to sound super bias, but that's why I stay away from apple products. I use windows computer and android phone. Seems like apple is ALWAYS having issues with products unless it's the product that apple wanted you to buy.
14:10 Hit the button once to pause, put them on your head..dont set them upside down, that turns them off.
What annoys me is the length of the frames and how they don't stick to your nose, I guess I'll get a strap.. I got a smaller head and I don't like the style of the small size, Rondo. Also, they advertise as music only you can hear - that's false. Overall, they have great sound... there's not much bass unless you are wearing a hoodie.

I never needed the app at all. Just establish a Bluetooth connection and it's good to go. But then, I'm using Android (Samsung Note 9), so maybe the difficulty is an Apple thing.
I dunno, I haven't needed the app since I published this review :P I wonder if there might have been a firmware update.

I'm a brand advocate, I just got these and had a product review with a bunch of Best buy Reps, and this review is spot on. Everything you said was said during the session. The only things that I discovered that you missed was the fact that the mid and high levels are very clear, one of the reps did actually say Latin music sounds amazing (which was eerie to hear you said that). I had everyone pair it to their own phones and listen to their favorite songs, pairing was a glaring problem (although in Best Buy there are so many Blue-tooth devices its not unprecedented there). SO, yeah, I just wanted to say this is an honest and spot on review.
You mean this can't be paired with a regular MP3 player?
Good question. FWIW, there may have been a firmware update -- mine haven't required the app since after I reviewed them 🙃

I bought both zungle and Bose and the sound is much much betteron the Bose but everything else is spot on with the zungle...

@@Simple_Jack82 Maybe, you could make them pretty minimal so as to not impact the visual much and add some needed functionality. I would take the trade.
Really enjoy your delivery style, albeit a tad long on this one, but... please be accurate. The frames DO have volume control using the press and turn feature which works really well, and the app is great if you have multiple Bose devices. Also, I connected once and never had to reconnect again. As an influencer, accuracy of content needs to be there, otherwise it dilutes down to opinion. Valid as your opinion, but opinion none the less.
I reviewed this over a year ago -- I can't predict they'll change things with firmware. That press and turn volume control sounds like a real hoot.

9:09 "the plastic is slightly translucent so if you have light coming in behind it you can see the frames" Um. Sir. They're lenses, they should be translucent you MIGHT wanna see through them when they're on your face, and when on said mug, the light will not be coming in from behind it.

Jesus Christ, get to the point. I found the headphones on Best Buy's website and did a Google search for reviews. All I want to know, since it is a review of headphones, is...well, do they work well as headphones? How's the sound? After 10 minutes of rambling on about how they operate as sunglasses, I decided to switch to 2x speed. At the 15 minute mark, I started to wonder if I'd been punked. Was the asterisk in Super* Review an indication that this was actually a satirical review channel that made a point of keeping people's attention for as long as possible without actually reviewing things? And then finally, at 18:30, more than three quarters of the way through this review of a pair of headphones, we get to the actual review of the pair of headphones. I love your video editing and your audio quality and the way you talk with your hands while unboxing, but geeze... You tell stories like my great grandma.
If you want a pair of headphones, I recommend a pair of headphones.
BONE conduction will look very ugly on these sunglasses, and i think BOSE thought about this yet it will look ugly. i would not wear a sunglasses with Bone conduction but i would wear these because it is mainly a sunglass!

honestly china had some OEM company making glasses frames with bone conduction audio way earlier than Bose. So i guess Bose one upped the chinese company after their designs got copied all these years

the app smarty is very easy to use so stop complaining like a drama queen about the app. you actually need an APP for all products these days. plus please do your homework before doing a review, the AR is actually very cool feature if implemented, it tells you the price of products in a supermarket the moment you see it or touch it. so don't kill something you actually dont know! and it is a fucking sunglasses that actually gives you AUDIO as a plus that is not a Headphone! and volume control is normally from your phone and not from the sunglasses. last time i watch your reviews lol

OMG.......! You need to revisit the style of which you review a product. 1.) How was the sound in the city, were you still able to hear the music? 2.) Does Bose offer many lens changes like Prescriptions vs other products? Is the music discrete you can go about your work without being noticed? My take away from your review is you are not a BIG BOSE fan and it became evident in your orgasmic love for the case for which you mention three times in the review. You suffer repetition in your review and failed to get to the point in a timely manner. So unfortunately, I have to listen to other reviews so I can get a non bias review. I give your review a failing grade. Sorry.
