Honestly, this is the most heartfelt video I've watched in the longest time. The fact that you guys showed that you're only human and filming can be a taxing business with so much happening around, touched me. I was a fan and today after this video I feel like I know you. And that really hasn't happened with any youtuber in the longest time. Thank you for the small anecdotes about how your thamma, your mom and your dad. Everything about this video brought a smile to my face. ♥️
Stay blessed 🙌 🙏
The only good thing happened in 2020 is "Bong Eats" is back 🙂
True...

Eagerly waiting to meet her
.......And adds to the human touch ....
Your introduction made me sad. Felt like someone who was in mourning taking the first steps towards moving on. Brave / bitter sweet. The music was soothing. The end made me feel calm and hopeful. Thanks for this video.
OMG!! OMG!! OMG!! OMG!!
Best news till the lockdown started. I was terriblterribly Missing your videos. The best thing about Fridays was your videos and that stopped.
Exactly
Exactly...I was looking forward to this video
Exactly
I'm not a bengali but watching the way you cook and represent your cuisine is just so beautiful and seems like a pure therapy to me. Keep going guys! 😇🥰
I am a “Probashi Bangali” settled in England; very anglicised who loves her pint of beer, red lentil soup 😄😆 ( moshoori dal for us bongs) and carrot cake. I was probashi even when I lived in India coz I was born and raised in Mumbai. So Bengali by ethnicity but not quite so, culturally.
I don’t know how I stumbled upon your channel but watching this video made me so homesick!! I had such mixed emotions, nostalgia, excitement, happiness but more importantly the remembrance of my cultural roots. It was like watching my mom cook when I was a little child. The calm background music, the Bangla references, the honest-to-goodness narration style, the sizzle of the fish frying, the korola bhaja, ohh my the machher jhol(!!), the Bengali accent, the spotless kadhai and the final dishes make this a beautiful piece of work. I have become a fan and I will keep coming back to get a taste of my roots, and my culture. And I will start cooking Bengali dishes to celebrate my culinary heritage, something I had almost let go off. Thank you very much for your time and effort🙏🙏. The shooting style (for want of a better word) is truly earthy and professional.
Eva Luna only the Bongs have the term " probashy Bengali " . Wonder why ?
I enjoyed reading your comments. I have been living in the US and Canada for a long time and miss the authentic bangali ranna at home. Initially it was difficult to reproduce it at any level, but with greater availability of ingredients over the years, it has gotten somewhat easier. Still we cannot ever produce the ambience that we grew up with. This Bongeats video brought us close to the original experience.
Raj B: ohh definitely!! This video is quite close in terms of authenticity and I love the fact that they actually bothered to explain the bong eating process...😃😂 I used to get reprimanded quite a bit as a child as I was too impatient/hungry and wouldn’t eat the food in the correct order. E.g. eating the daal and rice with bhaja and torkari at the same time. 😀
RainDrops: Really? Didn’t know that. Now that you mentioned it, I too wonder why.
For me it was a label that OTHERS used to describe us.... and which I adopted later on as a way to explain away my dodgy grasp of the language, my lack of understanding of cultural nuances, etc.
@@lailarafiq123 no we don't. Probashi would be pravasi in Hindi, meaning a migrant, not living where they're from. Bengali probashi's are distinct in the sense that many do attempt to drop their Bengali heritage, the language the culture, picking up hindi, Bollywood, or no Indian culture at all. We take our bengali heritage to be secondary. What made the word even more common in our vocabulary is probably the fact that we had a magazine called Probashi, that went in print pre-independence.
Uff this is so calm and simple and personal! Loved it sooo much guys! Also, the image of the old bengali dad in the background demanding his rice to be cooked more is golden! Reminded me of my baba.
❤️
I've been living abroad for last two years. This channel makes me feel so comfortable because it makes me feel the there are other people who stayed away from home and found comfort in making food. I absolutely love you guys.
3:20 The sense of documenting these priceless recepies for the generations to come...preserving the very fact of existance of a tribe...its food culture... I must say, its a job hard but being done soulfully.. U guys just stole my heart...😊
I believe we all must feel proud and consider it as our sole responsibility to pass on our legacies to our coming generations and contribute to the existance of our culture, our rich heritage in whatever ways we can!
The fact that you have intertwined cooking with society, conscience and the times we are living in, has made this journey much more than just another cooking channel. It feels so good to read all the comments and see how much love you are receiving. Makes me so happy for you guys although I have no reason to be. I wish I had known you in person and really sat down one evening for some gorom cha and adda.
Bong Eats has become a emotion for me...
I don't know why i become nostalgic after watching their videos...💓💓

I am living in Illinois for the last 4 years. Your channel makes me connect to Kolkata like nothing else. The best thing about 2020 is that you guys are back.
I love you guys & i will always love you. How many bloggers say this - "we felt what we were doing was not relevant with what wrong was going on in the world". You are the best. Thank you💕
Pollution is so low that I can see a BongEats video !

Welcome Back!
Wow ma'am u also watch bong eats😊
This is so wonderful. There is no "marketing" or fluff in this. It's absolutely pure and genuine.
I discovered you, folks, during the lockdown. I've just only started cooking and I made alu sheddo/alu chokha looking at your videos. I am stuck with my fiance in the lockdown and my mum is living alone. I've never had to cook a day in my life because "maa kore dito."
But during the lockdown, I decided I'm going to be cooking and since I started cooking I haven't just learned "rannar andaaj" but also lost about 5 kilos because of all the healthy eating!
My fiance is a Tamilian and he loves watching your videos. He is also learning to speak bengali and he loves saying "macher jhol" for some reason!
Sending all the love from a quarantined novice "radhuni" in Bangalore.
Love to see you guys back !! I am sure এমন করে তোমরা thousands of পরিবারের ঘরের লোক হয়ে গেছো | Thanks to both of you for gifting us such a superb RUclips channel with so organized and authentic recipes. (also the fantastic videography deserves special mention!)
And we loved this vlog and will start waiting again on Fridays/weekends for your new videos!
আর last request, একটা dedicated video পেতে খুব ইচ্ছে রয়েছে তোমাদের কাছ থেকে, which will explain the names of the dishes: like, what is কোফতা and what is কোর্মা, the difference between ঝাল, ঝোল and রসা, কিংবা ঘন্ট, চচ্চড়ি and ছ্যাঁচড়া |
“Bong Eats সেরা ভাই, স্বাদে আর গন্ধে,
(তবে) খাবারের নাম নিয়ে আছি কিছু ধন্দ্বে !!
Difference between কোফতা ও কালিয়া,
:)
D.Roy
That difference between the torkaris will be really helpful. And also bangaal dishes like shutki . Please
We stay Mumbai. I have been following your channel for quite some times. Your channel helped many young members of my family to prepare authentic bong dishes. It would great if you can load us receipe alu kachkalar torkari with dicey onion and piyaj kolir parath. My mom used to prepare it.
We moved to Sacramento this January, was watching your Q/A video from 2017, and thought we could connect but sadly (or happily) both of you had already moved back home. Wonderful videos/recipes (some of these recipes were never made at my home but we used to relish them at "biye bari-s"). Glad to see people of our generation trying to uphold our culture and values via cooking. I hope to continue to try making more Bengali dishes from here and impress my non-Bengali Delhi-ite husband :P stay safe!
I am a pure vegetarian. Not sure what I am doing here. May be it's their great work which is holding me back here. All I can do is to appreciate your efforts and share it with my friends.
my father likes his rice to be cooked a little more - awesome, these small anecdotes stands out so well to enhance the joy of watching
Indeed.. it was the case for my mother.. and the way they shoot and speak in the videos it feels like we are also part of their family...
So does mine .....
I began watching your channel two years ago since I met a friend who’s a Bengali from West Bengal. Your channel really inspired me to cook Bengali food, and I’ve always loved it since and still do. Take care and thank you for updating your subscribers. Regards from Australia.
Wow!! Re-using that "Prill" bottle for sorsher tel.. Probably "Ma-er" idea. Same in our family too 😊
Haha i noticed that too. Just the Bong things. ☺
Really... Typical bong thing... I noticed that too... But needs to be washed really well for reusing for cooking purpose!!
Mine too!
Thats what we all Bengali's do.
Totally adored the vlog. What a nicely filmed, earthy, soothing to the eye and ears, aa the way you described every little detail. Lovely !! Make more of these
I love the sounds that your cooking makes. They are like music. The cutting, the khunti on the korai, running water! So happy you are back! 💜💜💜
U missed kokil er daak ...,😆
Awesome...Bro...
I stumbled upon Bong Eats and you just found a new convert/devotee! I hated cooking, could not cook, did not want to learn how to cook... until the lock down happened! I was forced into the kitchen as I had to feed my family (my husband and my daughter). I realized that all this resentment towards cooking was passing on as negativity in the food I fed my loved ones. This realization awakened something within me and it was pretty sudden and something I cannot exactly put my finger on. And then Bong Eats happened one evening as I made your recipe of Cholar Dal and Luchi for dinner...and then your khichuri for lunch... and so many more recipes from your blog. Each one of them came out delicious and today I look forward to cooking and planning meals...coz I have one trusty Bong Eats! Thank you!
Happy to see you back. No matter what we Bengalis do, it gets a soothing poetic touch without fail. Your videos make me smile silently. Thanks.
Bong Eats: Happy to be back
We all : Happy to get you back.
No matter how many times I watch this, I keep coming back for I miss home so much and with Covid haven't reunited with my family for more than 3 years and connected on food. Saparishi's voice and Insiya's warm hands just remind me of my parents.
What a gem of a people you are. Thank you for acknowledging that not everything going on in India is okay / normal / acceptable. It's rare. Last few months have been so difficult , it's relief to see solidarity on such an unexpected front.
WELCOME BACK
BDW missing the “tana nanaaaa naaaa naaa naaaa” music
True but remember it's a vlog 🤣🤣😅🤣🤣
Yup😁
Frying a boal is considered a colossal sin in my family. Since it is already juicy fatty frying it would take out the fat content.
We just marinate the fatty boal with regular masala, a small onion paste, tomato and ginger garlic paste with whole sliced chillies.
Heat the oil hot and just add the whole mix of marinate, and let it cook in low heat. Add coriander at the end.
This produces a very bhapa like boal with it's juicy fat intact.
We call it kacha Mach because we don't fry the fish. Hope you try it. ,🥰
You guys inspire us!! Thank You
Your videos are really soothing. Glad you are back.
Totally adored that last segment where you guys talk about the rice portions kept for various delicacies.

I loved how you guys made us walk through the need for a proper prep before cooking and the post cooking cleaning act. Its a must and people new to the kitchen often do not seem to understand these small yet important things!
Such a lovely video. Loved every part of it

Such a nice video... I felt I was seeing you guys... Can I have kooler tok recipe... I ate it as a 12 year old
Waited for an eternity..Finally !!! Sotti kotha bolte, tomra ki recipe banachho is not that important to me. The fact that tomra jebhabe banachho, the presentation, the backgound music, overall the whole experience means much more. Thank you for coming back. 🙌🏻

Hello from California, we too are "sheltering in place," hoping to flatten the virus curve?
Your videos are excellent thanks for sharing!! :). A gentle suggestion, it would be nice to
see you both enjoying ur meals together, as after all that's the best part of cooking, which is eating together, right? Plus, it makes for a more relatable clip, than a well-choreographed & edited video, please don't mind, it's just my 2 cents feedback!:).
Stay safe & healthy!!
Beautifully put in words. 😊
So so sooooo happy! This is the best thing I didn't even know I needed. Love you both so much. ❤

Making mustard oil bottles out of emptied pril liquid dishwasher gel is an exquisite unique idea....😂 will give it a try...thankz
Try Gatorade bottles with twist open close mechanism. That works like a charm. I have been using it for quite sometime. My mom also became a fan of it as you can squirt oil out of it easily and twist close the cap when done. No fear of spilling. 👍
We are using like this from last 2 yrs😂
What about the soapy smell?
@@nmo3148 wash the bottle properly ..let it be dry in room temperature for 2 days...there will be no anymore soapy smell u will get.. Hope this method helps u😊😊

Love the finer intricacies in your cooking.. 3 yrs back when I attended my BFFs wedding(who is a bengali) I got confused with order of eating. In west we eat Chutney and Papad with rice. But there it was served after it. Your Vlog took me back there. Not to mention my future family is Bengali too.. So this was really helpful. Thank you Bong Eats. Lots of Love 😘😘

Hi Insiya di and Saptarshi da, I am just another probashi bangali who has been following your recipes for sometime now, especially during the lockdown. I must admit your videos have made me extremely homesick and nostalgic at times, but have also inspired me to pick up the "khunti-sharashi" and start cooking. I love the content that you put up and it feels satisfying to see how invested you guys are, in upholding the age old nuskas and recipes that have been so integral to bengali food and culture for generations. I am so thankful to you guys for making me rediscover my love for bengali food. Saptarshi Da, you are my school senior. Proud to see such amazing content. Please keep up the good work, lots of love and best wishes to both of you :)
Got emotional during the intro. Both of you are doing wonderful job! Lots of love and well wishes.
Boal maach reminded me of my childhood. It’s been such a long time I had this fatty fish. Back in those days only me and my father used to love boal maach unlike my mum and brother. After him I didn’t eat much boal maach anymore. Thanks for this sweet nostalgia!
So happy that you’ll are back. I just loved watching how you’ll eat the three dishes, course by course. The division of the rice was fascinating.
I’ve been rewatching old videos of yours during our covid isolation. It brings the feeling of home to my home. In the most elegant way :)
A blessing boomed in the lockdown coz both angels again screened and gave a sunshine to our hope.was eagerly waiting for comeback extremely overwhelmed with joy..just waiting for more blasts of videos..
U people are so real....love that you are back
Loved that point when you said ..."A trick that I learnt from my Thamma." One having a Thamma and learnt cooking from her can relate with your words. Thanks for your efforts of not just cooking bengali food... But more for preserving the processes and procedures of Banglar Heshel and conveying that to the present generation..
this was so heartwarming! and loved the intro..shows your honesty and passion.. I remember the time when we were going through that phase.. the backlash you faced for standing up for your beliefs.. glad to have you guys back.. stay safe!
So happy to see you guys back! Loved the fact that you added a simple dish like the beans er dalna to your vlog. Would be great to see you guys make more not-so-fancy everyday recipes! :D

So good to see a video from you. Felt like meeting an old friend after long time and nothing has changed. Welcome back
I found your videos from a comment on J Kenji López-Alt’s vlog today. I can’t wait to see more of your wonderful videos! I have lived in Japan all my life but I went to India last year. And I visited Kolkata too! I loved that city! An amazing city! I love your detailed approach to teaching how to cook. I think I can follow your directions! You both make such beautiful videos!!
I juzz love Bongeats... Khub bhalo beshe ..😘😘
