Last night a bunch of young muslims waving Palestinian flags and chanting about Akhbar forced their way into a Birmingham pub last night which was full of folks with their kids enjoying a karaoke night. It must have been as scary as hell for them. It took the imam from the local mosque and a few elders to persuade the muslim youths to go home and they took food to the pub as a sign of friendship. There was no need for such violent behaviour. There is no way on this earth that I would venture into the city centre - I don't feel safe. Mom mentioned that we may have civil war and told me to ensure that I have enough preps in the house.

Well said. Normal people get caught up in it. I remember being caught up in the Peckham riots in 2011, it happened so suddenly, we heard them coming before they were on the news. People were shouting to go away, people were running away, people were closing shops, people were setting alight to cars and homes, and looting. I think the best thing is not to be in your home if you are near a riot because they can set a light to your home, and hide in the side streets, run as far away as you can from the main roads. make sure you have a wallet for money for a hotel elsewhere if need be. they often happen at night. Parks will often be closed or unsafe too. It is horrible these men are destroying libraries,, citizens advice bureaus, etc. I hope they get jailed and conviction. It will blow over. i am glad I have food prepped for a while so I won't go into town and I live in the middle of the countryside, so i don't have to board up my house. I feel sorry for women and elderly and disabled people who are vulnerable. It is quite disgusting and scary

All that young male anger is very frightening. It has happened before - remember the 70s? Imo, those who experienced the horrors of war didnt need to riot. If society was less unequal and these males had job prospects that could lead to home ownership and a stable income ( rather than than the gig economy at minimum wage) they woyld be less inclined to go off and find trouble to cause. Where are these folk getting the money from to travel to these venues to cause trouble?

Portland, Oregon had protesting going on all summer in the downtown area. The media made it sound like the entire city was in peril - not so. However, plenty of damage was done to downtown businesses, and this added to the rapid abandonment of what had once been a beautiful, thriving downtown area. It is recovery very slowly, but it will never be the same. I don't disagree with what they were protesting, but I do believe the City's leadership has much to answer for. I hope the protests in GB don't end up causing far more damage than anyone could have imagined, like it did in Portland. Take care and be safe out there - rioting mobs with unclear agendas are extremely dangerous, in my opinion.

and then work on getting the ones who are here illegally, returned to France.
I really can't see curfews or lockdowns working but I also have no idea of how to stop the rioters, unless we let the police / army of the leash and let them respond with the same amount of violence 😞

The army would be useless in this fight,, they need a standing army to fight. The soldiers are good when it's man to man combat ,, this type of fighting would be street to street ,, it's a totally different style of fighting. Soldiers are mainly bulky and wear heavy clothing as well,, boots not trainers etc.
